NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

Although you prefer to identify with your fiery enthusiasm, it will help now to remember that fire must have fuel in order to continue burning. This is a time to gather fuel and create some grounded stability, in order to maintain your flame of spirit. This four-week cycle begins in your 2nd House of finances, resources, possessions and values. With the Full Moon in Earthy Taurus, it is a time to get real, concrete and methodical—not areas you are always comfortable with, Aries! You may need to slow down a bit in order to strengthen and maintain the flow of energy in your life. What you lose in exciting spurts of activity and passion, you will gain in endurance, stamina and consistency of effort. However, this may be a challenging time for you, Aries, since your preferred method of dealing with challenges (namely, charging through the obstacles) is likely to leave you feeling like you're tilting at windmills. You have the opportunity now to find better ways to work with situations that are intangible, vague and clouded by over-idealism. You are encouraged to go with the flow of the natural pathways in those situations, and allow your receptive intuition to guide you, rather than trying to deliberately and consciously calculate your every move. Listen to what your body is telling you and the instinctive intuition it brings. And keep your ear to the ground when networking with friends, groups and community. You may be shocked and/or inspired by unexpected discoveries.

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The focus has now shifted to balancing thought and communication with knowledge and understanding. The New Moon began as a struggle between physical necessities and non-physical inspiration; the spiritual versus the actual. The next step is to assimilate your experience of this into a new balance between your conscious perceptions and your broader understanding; between your actual words and the higher meaning you want to convey. You have a profound resource in your experience of groups of people, be that friends, associates, community or any other collective. This resource surprisingly includes both your fulfilling and painful experiences with these areas, as well as the potential for healing through a detached acceptance of the ironies and paradoxes of those experiences. You may find it frustrating to gain a sense of rational peace of mind when your ability to act directly seems blocked or stalled, but there is much benefit to be found in even trying to work out a solution to this, whether you succeed or not. Strive in the next two weeks to maintain a sense of conscious balance between asserting yourself in a way that is neither threatening nor manipulative, but seeks to negotiate clearly and directly for your interests.

TAURUS

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

Your highest aspirations come to inspire you to reach for new goals, but first you need to clarify your path and trim the overgrowth of wishful thinking. This four-week cycle begins in your 1st House of personality, self-assertion and how you appear to the world. This New Moon is important for you, Taurus, since it is in your own sign and therefore has special impact for you by reinforcing your inherent traits of stability and gradual growth. You now have the opportunity to manifest a higher vision of who you are and how you assert your sense of purpose, but to do this you must shed the illusions and (overly) wishful thinking that cloud your vision. Your goals take on special importance now, and you may have to confront the ways that your ambitions don't quite match your ideals. This confrontation is not there to discourage you (although you may feel some disillusionment or disappointment), but is meant to inspire you to make changes so that you can achieve a higher level of potential. To do this, it will help to examine your root beliefs and hopes, and then make adjustments according to what is realistically achievable—but don't sell yourself short! Then look at the values, methods and resources you are using to get where you want to go, and consider whether you are being true to the highest ethical, spiritual and creative truths you know—but don't aim so high that you set yourself up for failure. This is a time to bridge the gap between these areas of yourself through a new healing balance.

TAURUS

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

You are now ready to take the growth that began at the New Moon to a higher level of ethical self-honesty and spiritual transformation. Your struggle between the physical and spiritual, and between the realistic and the idealistic, might have felt like a catch-22 that had no clear solution—and yet, the struggle itself is a transformative effort that you can now start to reap the benefits from. These benefits might come through your career, goals or mother (or mother-figure), and are likely to emerge from being at peace with the way(s) in which you are a bit of a square peg trying to fit into the proverbial round hole. This paradox requires a degree of acceptance that may seem passive on one hand, but still requires that you take action to ensure that you stay on track with your strategies. Think of it as allowing the stream to pull you along, but you still have to steer the boat to keep from crashing into the rocks. This cooperative effort (with your boss or other people's expectations or society at large or the Universe) can provide the creative outlet for the inherent tension produced by trying to strike a balance between getting what you want through conventional means versus aspiring to a higher truth and a greater good.

GEMINI

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

Your idealistic beliefs, and your longing for stability and endurance, all come together to create an opportunity to identify some of your unconscious stumbling blocks. This four-week cycle begins in your 12th House of spirituality, psychic intuition, dreams and inner silence. You are about to embark on a journey through the sacred spaces between the physical and non-physical worlds, between what is and what ought to be, and between creativity for its own sake and ambition for the sake of results. Your intuitive perceptions and social connections are operating lightening fast, but may be as fluid, elusive and unusual as quicksilver. Networking with others, schmoozing for information, and connecting directly with friends and associates, could be very helpful to you right now. Your body's intuition can be a source of valuable information, if you can listen without taking it too literally or idealistically, and if you can keep from tuning it out because you don't know how to make sense of it. There is an instinctive wisdom and knowledge to be found now, which is non-rational (but not irrational) and spiritual (though not necessarily religious). By paying attention to your connections and confrontations with friends, associates, groups, communities—including the ways you do and do not fit comfortably with them—you can tap into the hive mind around you and learn something about who you are within this greater context.

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The emphasis has shifted now to create a balance between yourself and others within a context of healing, knowledge and individuality. This is a special Full Moon for you, Gemini, since the Sun (one half of a Full Moon) is in your sign. There is a difference between information and understanding, between facts and meaning, and between collecting ideas and assimilating knowledge from them. The Full Moon brings these differences into the foreground, along with the need to find a way to bring them into balance. As a general rule, other people (especially those you are closely involved with) can provide you with a connection to that greater context of meaning, understanding and knowledge, Gemini. However, right now this needs to be (and can be) paralleled by balancing your unique individuality with a sense of belonging to something greater than yourself. In doing so, you may be required to take an assertive stand to defend your goals and social standing, while also having to be diplomatic and charming with others (whether you think they deserve it or not). Keeping your bald thoughts to yourself, and doing a lot of listening, may be a good idea until you have the diplomatic high road well established.

CANCER

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

It's time to plant some seeds for the future, through your friends and associates, but be sure you see your fertile planting ground clearly. This four-week cycle begins in your 11th House of friends, associates, groups, community and the future, so these areas of your life may come to the foreground now. With the New Moon happening in Earthy Taurus, you may also be focusing on money, possessions, resources and values. Your friends, peers, associates and community are always a big part of your resources, Cancer, but right now it will help to look at the ways that you idealise them or play an unconscious drama with them. By "unconscious drama," I mean the automatic or habitual ways of interacting with the world around you, which unconsciously plays out old unresolved issues from the past. In the next 4 weeks, pay attention to the arguments, criticisms and inhibited communication that happen during this cycle—not because they are deserved or accurate, but because they can show you where your stumbling blocks are. There is much opportunity right now for liberation from the past and/or stretching yourself to create a more solid foundation for yourself through your community. The key is to be sure you're not filling in the blank spaces too much with your own wishful thinking, rather than allowing what you don't yet know about the situation (or person) to flesh itself out in its own slow time.

CANCER

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The energy has shifted to stretch toward a balance between the spiritual and the manifest; between everyday routines and universal implications; between participating in the physical world and retreating into quiet solitude. On a spiritual level, you are encountering the raw ideas that that form the very breath of the Universe, mirrored by the vast patterns that are built out of mundane details. Back down here on Earth, it's easy to get overwhelmed by all of this and you'll need a way to empower yourself, but owning your own power can sometimes feel chaotic and disorienting because power dynamics run very deep. As strange as it might sound, that power can be a healing force now, by riding through the chaos in a kind of "submarine" that allows you to be detached AND still immersed. That "submarine" experience could come through dealings with friends, authority figures, parents, teachers, mentors, clergy, or anyone who can help you expand your awareness beyond your immediate personal experience. …Or, through someone you yourself help in that way. Remember this: "You teach best what you most need to learn." (Richard Bach)

LEO

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

If you've been thinking of making moves to advance your career or other life goals, this could be a time when you take steps to do that. This four-week cycle begins in your 10th House of career, reputation, goals and ambitions, and being in Earthy Taurus, it is also likely to bring the areas of money, possessions, resources and values into the foreground. Relationships with those close to you (like your spouse, business partner, close coworkers, or even a mentor or someone for whom you are a mentor) may be a bit swampy right now. It's possible you expect too much of others and could be setting yourself up for disappointment, deception or just struggles that are difficult to understand and resolve. Watch for old patterns from the past in these interactions, which indicate that you could be playing out old family dynamics or walking through a "hall of mirrors" that is similar to the past. If you get lost, ground yourself in the basic essentials of what you're trying to accomplish. You have the power to attract the resources you need right now, but might have difficulty integrating these effectively into your game plan...or you might attract more than you know what to do with and, ironically, it slows down your progress...or possibly your resources come sporadically and unpredictably, making it hard to create smoothly paced progress. Take advice from trusted sources (or even unexpected ones) into consideration, but make your own decisions.

LEO

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

Your progress has shifted now to friends, associates, groups, organizations and other community connections that can support the project(s) that began at the New Moon. Your emotional focus is on your personal investment in your creative vision, which could involve the children in your life or just your "creative children." You may experience some tension with others who feel your direction should be different. If you can keep from becoming passive aggressive or manipulative in your attempt to stand your ground, you can probably explain your strategy in a way that will charm the critics. This delicate balancing act in your one-on-one interactions and relationships can actually stimulate a healing effect through the very struggle that seems to threaten your creative freedom. You may have to sacrifice some of your close connection to others in order to salvage and strengthen your own identity in relationship to them. In other words, by acknowledging and accepting the limits of how much others can be in agreement with your own unique path, you can potentially carve out enough space to be yourself without becoming entirely isolated or alienated in the process.

VIRGO

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

The ideals you bring to your work, health, and contribution to the world around you, are about to be challenged by your beliefs, knowledge and perspective. This four-week cycle begins in your 9th House of beliefs, understanding, higher education and travel. Being in Earthy Taurus, this New Moon may also bring areas of money, possessions, resources and values into the foreground. You may become aware of the ways in which you have taken things "on faith" a little too much, which could give rise to disillusionment, disappointment or even deception. However, there is also much opportunity for insight into these areas, if you can get past your resistance to some hard realities that present themselves. Don't let others persuade or coerce you into spending beyond your realistic limit—in terms of money or self-worth, either of which could be invested in something that may be more smoke and mirrors than substance. Health or job issues may require some extra attention now, along with some longer-term research or work, in order to stabilize and balance these areas. You have allies in your support system (including some from your past), who can help ground you and remind you who you are along with the deeper meaning, significance and implications of the challenges surrounding you now.

VIRGO

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The emphasis has now shifted to translating your beliefs and ideals into something more concrete, according to what you've learned about these. Support people in your life, as well as your foundation of knowledge and your innate ability to heal, are your allies in this. It is important to create a balance between where you have come from and where you are going; between your bedrock of ethical principles and your development of how to apply them each step of the way. This can help you transform perfectionism into practical principles through a healing process that involves coming to grips with the limits of what you can change and the acceptance (or transmutation) of what you can't. Co-workers, health practitioners or others who can help you get unstuck may present opportunities to help you bring your quest into balance and manifestation. Clergy, teachers, mentors, or anyone who helps you see beyond your immediate circumstances (as well as people whom you help in these ways), can provide fundamental insight and information that illustrate the ways that idealism and wishful thinking may be clouding your true vision.

LIBRA

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

This is a time to dig below the surface and discover the hidden jewel of your instinctive perceptions, Libra. This four-week cycle begins in your 8th House of empowerment, transformation and deep psychology, and with the New Moon being in Earthy Taurus, it is also likely to bring a focus to areas of money, possessions, resources and values. It is a good time to take a deep look at the ideals and unconscious projections you bring to creativity, children and your sense of self. You may have to face some disappointment, disillusionment or confusion in these areas, but it's all in the name of finding the deeper truth that is more real and enduring than the illusions or wishful thinking. You have the power to sense below the surface in these areas right now, especially by becoming more aware through your intuition and body language. You may not be entirely comfortable with what you see down in that underworld, but there is a kind of lunatic wisdom that can be found there. If you are in the position to help others connect with their inner instincts, you may find this happens more effectively through indirect encouragement or accidental coincidence, than through your direct efforts. And that's okay.

LIBRA

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

Your journey below the surface of things will have prepared you for a new vision of possibilities, as the emphasis now shifts toward a quest for truth and understanding. The revealing of hidden reality that began at the New Moon requires that you negotiate and communicate the "natural law" that emerges from those previously obscured dynamics. In other words, your mission now is to clarify the guiding principles that are indicated by what you have experienced since the New Moon. These spiritual values may not fit easily with your impulse to act on your intuition (rather than being guided by your conscious beliefs). This is a problem to be worked out in time, which will ultimately allow you to hone those principles into a form that can be applied pragmatically and realistically without losing the ideal. Ironically, the ways that you feel somewhat imperfect or out-of-sync in your creativity and self-expression can be a valuable resource right now, since this can keep you humble and focused as you work with all these high flying ideals. This can provide a nice balance for your creative inspiration and flow of loving compassion, which are working just fine.

SCORPIO

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

This is a time to dig below the surface and discover the hidden This is a good time to explore the grey and ambiguous areas of your close relationships—including with yourself. This four-week cycle begins in your 7th House of relationships, partnerships, close friendships and style of interaction. Being in Earthy Taurus, this New Moon may also bring finances, possessions, resources and values into the picture. In particular, old relationship patterns from the past are likely to come back to haunt, and could be behind some disappointment, disillusionment or even deception that you may experience now. This is an excellent time to examine your idealistic expectations and unrealistic hopes and longings that cloud your ability to see others clearly and accurately. Doing so can bring some much-needed healing to persistent, stuck problem areas over the next few months. You may feel the instinct to take a leap of faith in the area of liberated fun, aggressive creativity, out-of-character romance or children (actual children, your own Inner Child, or your creative "children"). However, be alert to the intuitive, subtle wisdom that is camouflaged in the background, which may contradict or show a different view of the surface events in the foreground. You may struggle with a bit of moral dilemma now: there is a fine line between drawing on others as a resource versus using people for what they can give you, and you may struggle a bit with how comfortable you are with the nature of your relationships with people. Straightforward and honest (but not caustic) communication is important—both with yourself and with others.

SCORPIO

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

You now have the opportunity to manifest a lot of the learning you've been doing since the New Moon, transforming it into realistic values that empower you. The homework you have (hopefully) been doing about examining old patterns from the past can provide a healing foundation now, if you focus on detaching from your old mindset and don't just get stuck on feeling disconnected from others. Swap that old mindset of disconnection and non-belonging for a new worldview that strikes a balance between "positive" and "negative" views of yourself and others. This can create a more empowering self-image and self-awareness, and a stronger vision of abundance (material and spiritual). There may be some conflict between other people's resources (e.g., of information, money, etc.) and the creative action you are trying to bring into being. This is a problem to be solved, not simply conquered, and requires a willingness to speak diplomatically (not just cleverly) and act indirectly or gently (not manipulatively). In the background is a struggle between what is necessary to have what you want, versus the ethics and standards involved in getting it. You might not come up with an ultimate solution, but the struggle will carve out a new awareness that will be worth the effort.

SAGITTARIUS

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

By surrendering to your higher intuitive perceptions, ironically you can achieve a more rational and practical result in the commonplace areas of your life. This four-week cycle begins in your 6th House of health, work, daily routines and your contribution to the world around you. Being in Taurus, this New Moon is also likely to bring finances, possessions, resources and values into play. You may struggle between your idealistic, wishful thinking and what can be realistically achieved in these areas. Friends, associates, co-workers or family members could be a source of frustration, possibly by mirroring back to you the ways that your actions are somewhat erratic or based on a bit too much faith. You may feel it is time to build a bridge between your community contacts (your "adult" connections to the outside world) and your efforts to liberate yourself from the past, but this is more likely to happen in an unpredictable "fly by the seat of your pants" kind of way, rather than the logical, straightforward, "fall into place" way you might be hoping for. Your communication can be empowered and powerful now, but be careful not to make too many assumptions about what constitutes right or wrong, or presume that the truth you see is the only truth. By bringing your highest vision into a more workable balance with your most basic assumptions, and your greatest potential in line with your simplest actuality, you can move farther in manifesting something of substance.

SAGITTARIUS

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

This is a special Full Moon for you, Sagittarius, because it is in your own sign, emphasizing all the basic themes of your sign. Interactions and communication between yourself and others now form the lightning rod that grounds all the energy of the last two weeks. There is much about you to be seen reflected in those interactions, which can be used to create a self-image that brings new awareness and acceptance to the "warts and all" aspect of your humanness. Your relationships can benefit now by thinking and communicating from a paradox—it is ultimately through our acceptance of shortcomings and imperfections (our own and others') that we can truly liberate ourselves from the existential pain and complications of being human. What gets in the way is old unresolved anger from the past and the impulse to just blast those old patterns away, which only makes it harder to relate in a non-threatening way and negotiate effectively with others. The old anger is a long-term issue, whereas you need support now, so stay focused on that self- and other-acceptance. Remembering that in the eyes of the Universe/God(s)/Cosmic Muffin/etc., each of us is "only an egg"only an egg" that still has a long way to go before hatching time.

CAPRICORN

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

This is a time to focus on creativity and pleasure. This four-week cycle begins in your 5th House of identity, fun and children—be they actual children, creative projects or your own Inner Child. Being in Earthy Taurus, this New Moon is also likely to bring finances, possessions resources and values to centre stage. There is an inspirational tension happening between your creativity and the way you draw on resources to fuel that vision. Perhaps it feels like the building blocks available to you fall short of the concrete certainty you need, while the reality of what you can build with what you have falls short of your vision. What you imagine to be available to you in terms of support from friends, community or the Universe, combined with your fantasy of what "should" be at your disposal, may be getting in the way of your ability to accept and work effectively with the reality of "what is." All of this impacts your close relationships—whether your spouse, partner or your close friends, co-workers or competitors—and provides a proving ground on which you are challenged to find better ways to speak your mind more clearly and directly, but without causing more problems than you solve. It will help to allow those elusive resources to take a winding path on their way to you, and don't lose faith if it doesn't happen in a straight line.

CAPRICORN

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The New Moon focus on creativity now shifts to translating that creativity into hard work and maintaining your vision of where you're going with it. Although you're no stranger to hard work, Capricorn, the challenge now is attending to the day-to-day details, and leaving the broad-reaching vision to the Universe to take care of. Alternatively, you may have some health matters to take care of, forcing you to take some time out from your busy schedule—which could be an annoying delay or a blessing in disguise, depending on how you look at it. The undercurrent here is just that—an undercurrent, which can bring intuitive inspiration that can be made tangible through focused thought, or a disturbing undertow of obsession and control issues. Your strongest ally in finding a workable balance is to remember that your resources (be they finances, possessions, friends, community, etc.) don't have to precisely match your fantasies to be useful. In fact, the creative tension you're experiencing now can help you find a healthy and healing detachment by being "in the world but not of it." In other words, you are learning to dwell in two worlds at once right now—the material world and the world of vision and spirit.

AQUARIUS

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

This is a time when you are challenged to build a bridge between the familiar and the unknown, between the present (which your individuality can control) and the past (which is beyond your control). This four-week cycle begins in your 4th House of home, family, need for belonging, and past experiences. Being in Taurus, the New Moon also is likely to bring into focus issues related to your possessions, finances, resources and values. Relationships with family members and people in your support system may fluctuate during this cycle, as your clarity of what you really want and can have from them moves in and out of focus. Part of what you may find, under the surface of the events happening now, is a dilemma about where you really belong—within a "trans-personal" context of something greater than yourself? Or, in the more personal areas of life that are accessible and concrete to ego awareness, like family, home and security? Do you want to acquire material abundance that supports your individuality; or work toward a wealth of non-physical resources that support the greater good? These are complex questions, and your challenge is to find simple, direct answers that reflect both the macrocosm and the microcosm.

Top of Page

AQUARIUS

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The focus has now shifted to the world around you—friends, associates, community and future directions—and finding your individual place within it. Your struggle with the question of where you belong will produce the potential for answers now, but not final ones. Instead, the question is answered with more questions that help to define the problem more clearly, and it is from this redefinition that you can find new direction to pursue further answers. If this sounds like a riddle, it is—a little like a Zen koan, which uses non-rational thinking to arrive at conscious awareness and enlightenment. In some way, you’re the "home" you seek is both in the physical world (with whoever you feel a kinship to) and beyond it (connected to something greater than yourself, in whatever way that makes sense to you). Your mission now is to discover how to "be in the world but not of it"—in other words, being detached without being disconnected, and having your place in the world without believing that's all you are. A vision of your material security also needs to be reconsidered, striking a balance between physical necessity and pleasure versus ideals and freedom that tend to dismiss these as trivial or negative. You are both a physical being who requires and deserves comfort and security, AND a spiritual being who needs to feed your soul with food beyond the physical. You're still working on finding that balance, but you're not as far off as you might think.

PISCES

NEW MOON Cycle in Taurus

May 8 to June 6, 2005

Tuning into your body language and innate intuition is fundamental to achieving what you want, but this is trickier than you might think. This four-week cycle begins in your 3rd House of communication, thoughts, language and awareness. Being in Earthy Taurus, this New Moon is also likely to bring up issues of finances, possessions, planning, resources and values. Your body language and simplicity of awareness is always a natural resource for you, Pisces, but during this cycle you may find it's a little harder to get a grounded sense of what your body is telling you. There is an essential conflict between the physical and non-physical, even though the two are inseparable, and you are struggling to bring the two together right now—to relate to the spiritual in the manifest, and to work with the physical in a way that transcends it. This is underneath the surface of events and situations in your life right now (more-so than usual), and illuminates the ways in which you have difficulty surrendering to the vast, fathomless unknown AND still staying connected to the physical world. This enlightenment may come as the result of a shake-up or awakening in your life that pushes you to accept changes, even though you need to assimilate those changes gradually. Insight and compassion from other people, even though it might seem like it doesn't really fit your situation, can help you find a balance that empowers you in some way.

PISCES

FULL MOON in Sagittarius

May 23, 2005

The emphasis has shifted to the formation of a new foundation that is built on the past but aimed toward a vision of the future. The body wisdom that has been available to you can now be translated into a new awareness about where you truly belong (literally or metaphorically) and what possibilities are open to you that result from that place of belonging. Even though it might seem like you haven't made much headway in your struggle between surrender and physical investment, the struggle itself can produce a new awakening that goes beyond both sides of the issue. The balance you have sought can now be a creative channel for the inherent tension between the past and future, between your need to belong and your aim to find that belonging in something greater than yourself. This might manifest as a renewed connection to family, or finding a new family that you choose as an adult, or even something as mundane as redecorating your home to make it inspirational and uplifting. Whatever way it comes to you, there is guidance under the surface from beyond your ego consciousness—the Universe or God or your Higher Self or even just your sense of community. You may feel a conflict about how or whether to take action to make the necessary changes. Just remember that there's a fine line between subtle persuasion versus manipulation, and between taking action "as the spirit moves" versus being stuck in fear but calling it creative chaos. You'll need to be deeply honest with yourself to know which end of the spectrum you're closer to.
