ARIES

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 6th House of work and service, paid or volunteer, health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

You may have some surprises or disruptions in your work or health this month, but they are actually an opportunity in disguise to inspire exciting changes. By "work," I mean whatever you invest your time and energy in (paying job, volunteer work, personal projects, etc.) You feel a bit frustrated because you think you should be farther along than you are on your career path or quest for better health. Perhaps you want to change jobs but the opportunities just aren’t there or your courage is sagging. You may feel your goals just aren't coming together as you'd hoped. Or maybe you'd like to get more recognition for your efforts but feel like you're stuck working behind the scenes doing the "grunt work." Attempts to make your case and implement changes may be frustrated, due to being misunderstood or encountering delays. It may be time to let go of old dynamics in a close relationship, but new potential entices you to want to work it through. It's as if you're caught in an "in-between" kind of place that is neither here nor there. However, there is an unexpected gift in this strange twilight, because the "in-between" places can be magical! It is within this transitional space that powerful change can be set into motion. With your forward direction being somewhat unclear, you have the opportunity to explore less obvious possibilities off the beaten path, and consider hidden opportunities that you would miss if you were happily motoring along your preferred path. Take some time to consider some of the less obvious possibilities in your situation. You might decide not to change much about your direction, but what you discover in the shadows could be enough to put a new spin on your goals and breathe new life into them.

FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 12th house of spirituality, compassion, isolation, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

You are fully planted in that "in-between" place now. The new potential in a relationship that emerged at the New Moon may now seem to be hitting a dead end, or it might require some serious adjustments that require a much deeper commitment to problem-solving. Your need to make choices can feel compelling and necessary, yet difficult and unclear – you can't stay where you are, but it may feel like every move you make is like spinning your wheels in quicksand. There are many different levels of energy happening, making your situation genuinely complicated, entangled and hard to get a solid handle on. On one hand, this could feel like an exciting time of promise and powerful potential. On the other hand, you might feel incredibly frustrated because there doesn't seem to be a clear path through the jungle. Part of the problem may be that you're trying to go too fast through a situation that calls for a more patient, methodical approach. By slowing down and concentrating your focus of attention, you can strengthen your understanding of the situation and see your best path more clearly. Other people may be able to help you get grounded enough to achieve this, but you also have resources within yourself that can guide you. The trick is to approach your situation somewhat indirectly, by watching for the solutions that are camouflaged and hiding in plain view.

TAURUS

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and "joi de vivre.")

This can be a time when you may feel inspired to move forward with some of your goals, especially involving major purchases (or selling your possessions), relationships, children, spiritual rebalancing or expansion of your social connections. However, your perception of how to proceed and your ability to put it all into words may be daunted by the limitations in your situation as well as the sheer scope of what you want to achieve. It can therefore be difficult to know how to move forward when you aren't sure of your footing. You have recently been through a time where you became aware of new possibilities and potential, but it will take more time to formulate a solid plan and figure out how to get from "here" to "there." It will help if you regard these opportunities as long-term goals that will take you a few months to achieve, but don't let that stop you from doing what you can do right now. You are at the start of the journey and encountering some confusion, chaos and complications. These require you to pick your way through a bit of an obstacle course, as if you were trying to move past a big thorn bush in your path – very carefully! Prioritize to determine what is important (and deserves closer attention) and what isn't important (and should be let go). Some problems in your situation will require you to transcend them by focusing on the bigger context of the long-term vision. Other issues will require some strategic callisthenics to squeeze through them, since you won't be able to simply eliminate them. And some aspects of the situation will require strength of spirit to help you sustain attention to the details without becoming fragmented. It will help to see yourself as being one of many parts in a larger purpose, without short-circuiting your sense of self by feeling insignificant (you're not!).

TAURUS

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues and co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large and vision of the future.)

The new potential that began at the New Moon may seem to have hit a wall now, but there are hidden benefits! It may be necessary to let go of some dynamics and issues that aren't working very well, concerning a lover, partner, family member or support person. Or, you might find that your one-on-one interactions right now are dredging up old issues from the past and getting in the way of the present. It's important to dig down deep below the surface of interpersonal dynamics to get at the source of the conflicts in order to resolve them. If this can't be done or if that situation has outlived its purpose in your life, it could mean having to let go of the relationship, the person or the situation. In any case, there are old issues from the past coming up that can't be ignored or dismissed, and need to be squarely faced and dealt with. Your greatest strength right now is to combine an attitude that seeks fairness and healing, with a strong stance that seeks inner truth and moral purpose. If you can keep these elements in focus, it will help to stabilise the conflicts and keep the need for change from getting bogged down. Around the end of the month you will be in a better position to see those dynamics more clearly and, if you haven't already, make some decisions about what to do about them. You are taking a step through the first rite of passage in the long-term goals you have been working with since the New Moon. Don't be surprised if it looks different than you had expected – it's all part of the developmental process. If you find you need to make some radical or unexpected changes in your direction, that's part of the process too, and it doesn't mean you were wrong the first time. Sometimes the thing that gets us moving in the right direction is not the thing that keeps us there.

GEMINI

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father, childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

Change is in the air! Both excitement and irritation rise up easily during this cycle. This is a very complex time and it will take a few months to work through all the layers. There is very little that is straightforward about life right now! On one hand you have (what "should" be) a clear focus on your purpose, your sense of self and your creative direction. On the other hand, you may be haunted by an undercurrent of misgivings, doubts or indecision that threaten to paralyze you. However, in the midst of this murky confusion is an "in-between" space that contains potential and possibilities that may not be visible on the surface. By being patient, methodical and waiting until it "feels" right before you act, you can find your way through the fog. It may feel like your internal radar has broken down or that your intuitive sense is a bit scattered and unreliable, but allow yourself to just "sit with" your situation for a while before you take action. "Notice and allow," as the meditation Masters say. Your confusion, doubts and indecision have a deeper story to tell, which will unfold over the coming few months. In the meantime, there is a close relationship in your life that may need attention, or perhaps just your general approach to relationships and negotiation. It is time to let go of perceptions that aren't realistic or accurate, which keep you stuck in negative dynamics with others. By beginning that letting-go process now, you will not only bring better health to your relationships in general, but you will also begin to tap into that intuitive undercurrent that may seem difficult to get a handle on.

GEMINI

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(In your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother, social reputation and roles in society.)

Your intuitive faculties are wide open right now, as the vision of where you want to go in your life is played out across the screen of your imagination. You are able to pick up on both the positive potential for change, as well as the hidden issues about control, trust and perfectionism that haunt you from below the surface. This could spark a transformation, or it could keep you stuck in indecision and the desire to have everything "just so" before you will move forward. The relationship issues that emerged at the New Moon have also come to a crossroads, and it is time to make some choices. It will be important to let go of the dynamics in that situation that aren't working for you or that have outlived their purpose, but doing so will also be a liberation. It may also be a time when impulse purchases could lead to difficulties, so let caution and patience be your guide. You might have to make a deeper commitment to a more structured or disciplined approach to relationships and finances, even though it might seem like a rational approach will not help your situation. The worst thing you can do right now is act on impulse, unless you are totally in touch with and comfortable with your intuition. Rather, allow yourself to be guided by a higher sense of wisdom and understanding, combined with a depth and authentic connection with the person you're interacting with – but be careful not to mistake these qualities for over-confidence and manipulation. By the end of the month you'll have a better sense of whether you're on or off track, when it's time to make some choices about which direction you want to go in. At that time, you'll be at a crossroads involving a relationship, finances, work or health, and you will be able to work more directly with your intuitive vision of possibilities.

CANCER

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

You may feel inspired to help people by exchanging information and helping them gain a broader, more liberating perspective. Alternatively, you may seek a new way to organise, prioritise or categorise your knowledge and understanding, so that you can increase your self-awareness and bring healing to toxic ways of thinking. These are all noble and worthy aspirations, although they are not likely to be quick, straightforward or easy to do. You may instinctively reach out for spiritual, philosophical or educational guidance, but there is a risk of falling into an all-or-nothing kind of perfectionism. The energy in your life right now is quite complex, contradictory and enigmatic, with many layers to understand over the next few months. For example: relationships, especially your perceptions of others and your communication with them, may be a source of frustration, uncertainty and misgivings during this cycle. The purpose of this situation is not to annoy you, but to motivate you to learn how you might be unconsciously sabotaging relationships and interactions. This might happen because you're letting your ego get in the way, or it could be that you expect more of others than they can realistically give. Or, you might be choosing people whose expectations of you are too high, and then you try to pump up your sense of self to match it (which can't be sustained for very long). This is an opportunity to increase your awareness of relationship dynamics in your life, so don't let yourself get caught in a trap of beating yourself up for not being perfect. Money, income, possessions and values may play a role in this unfolding drama, and you are cautioned to be neither too impulsive nor too restrictive in your spending. Family and friends may put conflicting demands on you right now, but this will have shifted by the Full Moon.

CANCER

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

The spiritual, philosophical or educational support you've been reaching for is now within sight, but that doesn't mean it will be easy going and solve all your problems. Your quest now is to find a workable balance between the (apparent) freedom of surrendering to absolute trust versus the certainty and predictability that can (seem to) come from micro-managing everything yourself. Yet there are distractions. For example: family, friends, associates, co-workers and groups may become a source of irritation and frustration right now. This may have been triggered by you taking a more confident approach to work and family involvement, or by standing your ground in the face of ambiguous family boundaries. This may have leaked out into your interactions with friends and associates, and perhaps made you wonder if it is even possible to achieve what you hoped would come from these changes. You'll need some "hair of the dog" to deal with this kind of frustration – by staying strong with the higher purpose and vision of the changes you have been aiming for, you can stabilise the fallout which will gradually settle down. By the end of the month, you will reach a turning point that might involve a confrontation (having to assert your own interests) but might also help you be more receptive to the needs and concerns of your friends. This may start out at the Full Moon as a conflict between your external material resources and your inner sense of self as an intangible resource, this can be resolved through a liberating attitude where you dare to give yourself permission to be yourself.

LEO

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

It's time to take inventory of your blessings! This applies to your finances and income, as well as your possessions, what you spend your money on, and your values that help you decide if the price is worth what you're getting for it . It also relates to resources (material or otherwise), including talents, skills, support people—whatever you "have" that you can draw on when you need some extra assistance. These areas may be a source of confusion and frustration this month, as you examine what is and isn't working efficiently. Employment as a source of income (or lack of it) is likely to be a central part of this frustration—problems that can't be easily or fully resolved. That doesn't mean the situation is impossible, just very complex. Your preferred style of creativity and sense of purpose may have to take a back seat to necessity and responsibilities for a while, to ensure that you have enough finances and resources to meet your needs. Irritation can arise when your creative self-expression wants to come forward but finds it can't take a leading role. You know you need to move in a new direction (career or goals), but might not be sure how to proceed. And the need for money and other resources is higher on your priority list. Redirecting your energies in a more fulfilling direction is a long-term process that will unfold over the next few months, so don't be discouraged if it takes time. First you need to find a more workable balance between your creative Fire and the demands of physical reality (food, bills, rent/mortgage, etc.). You can't eliminate one without impairing your ability to do the other, but right now they are as difficult to mix together as oil and water. A broader use of your creative instincts can help find a path through this quicksand, by thinking outside the box and accepting short-term, temporary answers (as are the obstacles in your way, too!). Be willing to settle for short-term workability for a while and the long-term success will come later.

LEO

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, death, rebirth, transformation and sexuality.)

You now have the opportunity to apply those creative ideas about how to find short-term solutions to irritating problems. In fact, if you are able to rearrange your perceptions a little, you will see that you are using just as much creativity (in the broadest sense of the word) by finding imaginative solutions as you would if you were channelling that creative energy in your preferred direction. By having to think and act outside the usual box, you are actually expanding and exercising that creativity in ways that you would probably have ignored otherwise. Your biggest strength right now will come from seeing your current situation from a broader perspective—as an opportunity to develop new uses for your creative ability. Although this might seem to distract from your pursuit of a new long-term direction (career and other goals), it is precisely by strengthening this broader perspective that you can fuel a new direction in your life. That doesn't mean your long-term goals will require you to settle for less than you really want, but that this "detour" is bringing unexpected and unusual resources that will open your mind to new possibilities down the road. Meanwhile, back in the present, you might have some serious choices to make about money and spending – possibly involving a loan, possibly involving a family member or other support person, and probably reaching a turning point at the end of the month. Starting at the Full Moon, it may be necessary to make a deeper commitment to a more structured, disciplined approach to money (and perhaps your relationships), although this is likely to be as liberating as it is restricting. Your ability to be objective may feel a bit fuzzy for a while, but it will help to pay attention to the details while keeping the big picture in focus.

VIRGO

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your New Moon, Virgo, since it takes place in your own sign! That means it will affect you in a special way, by reinforcing your sense of self and letting your natural beauty shine out to the world. This lunar cycle may seem very messy to you, Virgo, because it won't fit comfortably into your attempts to organise it, analyse it or systemise it. Whether need to heal your body, mind or spirit, or if you have a situation that requires problem solving and fixing, you will have to think outside the box for a while. This is a time when your usual logical, rational ("left brain") approach will only go so far, and you will need to approach your challenges in ways that are intuitive, creative and ambiguous ("right brain"). This may come with difficulty—not just because your default mode tends to be "left brain," but also because lately you may be feeling some doubts, limitations or discouragement involving your spiritual beliefs or your sense of being connected to something greater than yourself. Relationships and interactions can bring a wake-up call to alert you to the ways you may be relying too much on your "left brain" mode, by bringing disruption, surprises, spontaneity or unexpected feedback into your life. Financially, this is a good time to pay off debts and shed any ideals and values you have about resources, which conflict with your better judgement and intentions. These better judgements and intentions may, in turn, be at odds with the ideals you try to apply in your everyday life. All this suggests that you could be falling into a trap of perfectionism...but you know better. All this is lurking in the background of whatever events are happening in your life this month. If you find yourself feeling a bit inadequate or dealing with what seems like a no-win situation, watch for insights that are "hiding in plain sight" – they're camouflaged inside of thoughts, feelings and motives that you take for granted.

VIRGO

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 7th House of Significant Others, relationships, partnerships, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, and balance.)

The interactions you've had since the New Moon that have brought you valuable insight (sometimes perhaps not in a way you would have preferred!) are very important now. If you have been able to listen carefully, the feedback and even the shake-ups can be harvested for constructive ideas to help you reach toward a better connection to something greater than yourself. The hump you must get over, in order to do this, is to learn not to put others on a pedestal and essentially turn them into a form of "Higher Power." There is a sacredness that is an inherent part of all close connection to another person. But human nature can also project its own longing for spiritual connection onto the other person. Not only is this not the same thing, but it can result in painful disillusionment and disappointment if/when the other person fails to live up to your ideals about them. This is the kind of struggle you are likely dealing with, and the more you can learn about how this dynamic may be operating in your life, the greater your ability will be to get a handle on the somewhat chaotic energy that is happening now. Although this may be manifesting in your relationships, this is really about your quest for spirituality, truth, principles and how to make these fit with your actions and intentions. Don't be discouraged if this feels like a bigger issue that will take time to work through—it is! The next few months will give you a chance to try out different ways to fit all the pieces together. For now, your greatest strength lies in letting go of old ideals and control issues that you picked up in the past but which no longer fit who you are, combined with affirming and embracing the values and principles that do fit the present You and help you find a sense of peace and balance. Strengthening these areas will help your spiritual struggle become more stable and grounded, and better prepared for the journey ahead. This will reach a turning point at the end of the month, when your awareness of underlying issues can help you pick and choose wisely what is and is not in your highest interests.

LIBRA

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 12th house of spirituality, compassion, solitude, privacy, alone time, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

This cycle is about how to discover and adopt your highest principles and faith, without straying so far into "la-la land" that you can't recognise and deal with "what is" down here on Earth. This quest starts out with great promise and precious opportunities disguised as indecision, disruption and ambiguity. You have an abundance of resources available to you, in material prosperity and/or people to help you on your quest (friends, family, mentors, teachers, advisors, etc.). However, not all of these pieces want to fit conveniently together or seem to take you where you want to go. One source of annoyance could be that there is conflict between your friends and your family. This could take a number of forms: one might not get along with the other, or you may be blurring the boundaries between the two (trying to turn friends into family or vice versa, in a way they're simply not able to do). Or, your hopes, dreams and vision of the future might be at odds with the expectations you carry that have their roots in the past. These conflicts bring up the need to take some time out to check in with your innermost beliefs and your connection with something greater than yourself (which could be religious or spiritual or just a sense of belonging within a greater context of life). For the last couple of years, you have been reaching for a way to awaken a more meaningful connection between your spirituality and your day-to-day activities, and this cycle brings the opportunity to take small (yet complex) steps in this direction. Start by taking some time away from the world to focus into the part of you that is reaching for that higher connection to the Universe, and see what it can tell you about the confusion, chaos and complexity that is around you. Power struggles and sexual tension with others that emerge now are part of a longer process of transformation (a few months). By getting grounded in your own inner space now, as well as acknowledging the pros and cons of the support people in your life, you will gather resources for that transformative journey.

LIBRA

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 6th House of work and service (paid or volunteer), health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

You now have the opportunity to take some of that spiritual connection and inner awareness that you've been cultivating since the New Moon, and apply it to the mundane world through your daily routines, your work, helping others or tending to your health. And you will probably need this resource in order to deal effectively with the deep transformative struggles that are likely bringing conflict and frustration into your life. Your greatest strength now lies in embracing the higher principles and understanding that you've been working with since the New Moon, and combining this with a certain level of acceptance that life is not always pretty—and that these two perspectives can co-exist and, in fact, strengthen each other. By embracing these concepts and applying them in little, seemingly insignificant ways, you will help to stabilise and calm any temptation to overreact or to inadvertently invite overreaction from others. There will be a turning point in this evolution at the end of the month, when you may be called up on to demonstrate the ability to own your power without resorting to either domination or manipulation. In the meantime, you may have to draw some kind of boundary with a friend or associate, or deal with them drawing a boundary with you (for example, having to say no). Although this might be difficult or painful, it can be a valuable practice event that lets you exercise your assertiveness and empowerment without overdoing it or giving it away to the other person. This will be a helpful resource at the end of the month. This overall process of learning better self-assertiveness skills will unfold over the next few months, so don't be discouraged if you need some time to master it.

SCORPIO

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues, associates, co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large, and vision and hopes for the future.)

How can you bring your creativity and self-expression out into the world, and to whom? Attached to this question are issues about relationships—weighing the balance between who you are inside versus what you encounter in others. Part of you would rather work behind the scenes or stay protected in comfy solitude where it's just you and the Universe. Interactions and close relationships may seem filled with conflict, confrontation or challenges that you might be trying to avoid. Perhaps you find it difficult to gauge how to be assertive with others without going overboard into aggression. The problem is: if you don't own that assertive power, you wind up giving it away to the other person. On the other hand, you can't live in constant tension with others either. Besides: too much of your passion lies in your relationships with others, and a Scorpio without passion is like a fish without water. Now: during this cycle, your activities with friends, associates, groups and community become the testing ground through which you can ease your reclusive side back into the world. Your first big test involves the planning and communication of your goals and aspirations, possibly creating some indecision about how to do this without triggering self-doubt. Another piece of the puzzle to watch for is the link that exists between current conflicts and your past (possibly childhood, or even a past life), which may be connected to disappointment, depression or lack of support. You may also encounter a conflict between finances and career—between the resources you "have" that you can draw from versus the demands of responsibility and necessity. Financial gain and/or a new relationship (lover, friend, mentor, etc.) are possible during this cycle. However, even though the opportunity may seem like a gift from the Universe, it will still require hard work. In all these things, it helps to "think globally but act locally," as the saying goes. In other words, take small steps in what will be a long-term journey (over the next few months).

SCORPIO

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and joi de vivre.)

Your creativity and self-expression are in full bloom right now, and any inhibition you might have had at the New Moon about how to focus your direction is now probably too busy doing it to worry about it...or else the worry becomes part of the creative process. You have two big challenges right now: your interaction with others (which may bring frustration, tension and the need to tread very carefully) and your ability to attract what you want (including finances, resources, social contacts or relationships). Both are connected through a force of deep transformation of what you "have" that supports your growth potential, which is a long-term process that has been unfolding for about 10 years. Your greatest strength right now lies in combining that transformation process with a sense of intimate connection to the Universe (or at least to something greater than yourself), giving you a sense of faith in a larger process that is guiding your life. Reinforcing this combination of energies will help to stabilise and ground any wonky dynamics happening in your interactions. You also may have some difficult choices to make regarding career direction or life goals versus the creative passion you want to bring to them. It may be necessary to sacrifice some part of your goals in order to keep the rest alive, or else you may have to make a much deeper (read longer-term) commitment to those goals in order to make them work. Either way, although it may feel like something is being taken away, it will also liberate your sense of self and release new creative energy. You will gain as much as you might lose.

SAGITTARIUS

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(In your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother, social reputation and roles in society.)

How do you bridge the gap between the material and the spiritual? Between the macrocosm (the big picture) and the microcosm (the details)? Between the everyday experience of the sublime and the sacred experience of the ordinary? This is your mission during this lunar cycle, and it won't be as straightforward or easy as you might think. You're being asked to mix the experiential equivalent of oil and water—they don't mix together easily or consistently. This struggle is likely to play out in a number of areas. For instance, your spiritual beliefs might seem to be at odds with your source of income or financial status. Or, to follow your ambitions (career, goals), you have to break away from some of the ideals on which your plans are built. Or perhaps your friends, associates, groups or community support your vision but they can't (or won't) help you put it into practice. However, none of these dilemmas means you have to throw away the benefits just because they don't solve all your problems. Your friends, associates and community are actually a strong resource for you right now. So is your vision of what you hope will result from your efforts to achieve your goals. It's so much easier for you to see the vast panoramic view than to deal with the nitty-gritty details, and right now you need to do both. So the fundamental challenge lies in breaking down your cosmic vision into concrete logical steps, without becoming either fragmented (spreading yourself too thin across too many tasks) or discouraged (feeling like you're just spinning your wheels in quicksand). Ironically, it is precisely by venturing into the territory you would prefer to avoid (dealing with the small details) that you can find the path through your dilemma. By slowing down and treading carefully in between the rock and the hard place, you will find a way through.

SAGITTARIUS

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father, childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

Now is the time to focus on accessing and reforming your foundation of ideals and vision, so that they can support your ambitions and goals better. Interactions with family and support people might play a role in this—either by helping you with this challenge, or by triggering problems that motivate you to find solutions. Your biggest challenge right now is how to take action to make your goals happen. It might be difficult to slow down enough to take one step at a time (instead of a leap or three at a time), or you might be falling into an either-or dilemma, where you can see the detailed steps OR the big picture, but not both at once. And the demands of practical reality might seem to conflict with your values, ethics, principles and ideals—your vision—which makes it easy to get stuck in the preparation stage. The good news is that this is a long-term journey over the next few months, so you have some time to work it out. Your mission in life has been going through massive changes for the last 10 years, some of it underground where you can't always see it. You have the opportunity now to put some of that transformation into practice, by finding creative ways to combine empowered concentration of purpose with an openness to new ways of accomplishing that purpose. This is your greatest strength right now, as long as you don't become fanatical about it and confuse power with stubbornness or confidence with arrogance. Allow the possibilities to present themselves to you, and keep an open mind—they might be obscure or seem to contradict your purpose, and not at all what you expect. You may also find that finances are a bit sluggish, or that a social contact is proving to be more of a problem than a support. You might have to let yourself be guided by your own gut instincts, instead of relying on your conscious understanding of the situation or your principles. There may be consequences from this at the end of the month, when you must make a decision about what actions to take, even if there doesn't seem to be a clear best choice. You'll do fine if you keep your balance in the areas described here.

CAPRICORN

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

How do you mould yourself into the best person you can be, when you see the ways that you fall short of what you're aiming for? How do you empower yourself and strengthen your sense of self, when you feel vulnerable and inadequate sometimes? And how do you move forward toward your ambitions when the individual steps don't seem to be getting you there? These questions are on the agenda this month. The common thread between them is the need to examine the principles and ideals by which you measure your success—in your work and goals, in your relationships, and as a person. A couple of months ago, there began in your life a two-year process of confronting the secrets that guard (what feels like) the "unacceptable" parts of you, and the ways you try to empower yourself as a result. The first step (which is happening now) is to become aware of what the issues are. Initially it might be easier to see what doesn't work than what does, so be careful not to get stuck in negative criticism or blame. But do take a careful critical look at yourself and your life to see what is and isn't working, and how it all measures up to the principles you aspire to. There is someone (mentor, advisor, co-worker, lover/spouse, close friend, etc.; probably female) who can help you approach this in a balanced, fair way, so don't let your pride or ego get in the way by trying to do it all yourself. This is a time to begin shedding unrealistic expectations, outmoded beliefs, improbable hopes and secret fears that have been camouflaged in the background of your psyche. You will ultimately need to do this in a logical, step-by-step fashion, but because you're exploring unknown territory you will also need to "feel" your way along to some extent.

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

Your perceptions and awareness of the deeper issues operating in your life are now easier to see, although perhaps not easy to know what to do about them. You might feel you have to be aggressive, domineering or manipulative in order to acquire the resources (material, emotional, psychological or spiritual) or the self-esteem to make necessary changes in your life. But doing so could contradict the principles and aspirations you hold dear, and risk disapproval from people you look up to. Your greatest strength right now is to wield your power quietly behind the scenes, but allow yourself to be guided by your highest principles and ethics. In other words, use your power with restraint that is honourable, moral and fair. However, it may not be clear how to translate this into practical action, and this is your one of your biggest challenges right now. It will help to strengthen your ability to exercise control without becoming a control freak, and to stay focused on the big picture of your highest aims. This can help to smooth out what may feel like a somewhat rocky path and guide you through that unknown territory (mentioned in your New Moon horoscope). On another front, you may encounter conflict with someone (perhaps the person who helped you since the New Moon) in a situation that also involves control issues – but are those issues yours or hers? Actually, the issues are probably coming from both of you. The important thing about this situation is not so much who's right and who's wrong, but that fact that it is showing you something important about yourself. Learn from it! Regardless of the objective events happening right now, you have a unique opportunity to observe the reactions and feelings that come up in you when you encounter a situation that involves control, exercise of power, stealth persuasion and the use of personal power. If you allow yourself to be open to it, this could bring a flash of insight that could liberate and release a lot of old misconceptions.

AQUARIUS

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, death, rebirth, transformation and sexuality.)

How do you empower yourself as you interact and communicate with other people, when it feels like there are hidden agendas lurking under the surface? How do you liberate yourself from the temptations of material attachment, when it's so easy to feel controlled by the practical details that are necessary to live in the physical world? And how do you aspire to the exalted principles of justice, equality and peace, when you have to plod through the material world to take care of your everyday needs? Exploring these questions can lead you to discover how to empower yourself by living down on ground level for a while, instead of just soaring up in the clouds. For the Aquarian, the quest for empowerment involves paying attention to the nitty-gritty specifics—which can feel like you're trapped in an anthill! "The devil's in the details" (to borrow an old saying) but right now those details form an essential lesson about how to hold your own with your material and relationship needs, without becoming so detached that you lose the connection. There's an element of necessity, obligation or extra commitment that has just recently shifted the balance of power and harmony in a close relationship (lover, spouse, partner, close friend, etc.), and you might even be questioning whether it is still workable. It likely feels like hard work to hang in there solidly enough to work through the problems and invest the additional energy that's required. But there are more advantages than the obvious ones if you can do this, which is to teach you about how to create more fulfilling relationships. Of course, I'm not suggesting you should stay in a relationship that's abusive or clearly not working, but do try to stay connected to what the situation can teach you, even if you feel you must disconnect from the person. It's also possible that these dynamics could emerge in the area of finances, resources and possessions, where you might need to get your hands "dirty" in the mud of material necessity while finding a way to reframe this in a spiritual light.

AQUARIUS

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

Your quest to bridge the gap between the material and the spiritual is now at the centre of your focus. A creative or intuitive approach to these issues is not only possible now but very beneficial. It may feel like you are getting stuck in having to take pragmatic action, which doesn't seem to fit with either your aspiration toward higher justice and equality or your quest to find a way to empower yourself in social situations. In fact, interactions of all kinds (intimate partners, co-workers, friends, associates, authority figures) might seem to echo this theme of power and control. This may feel like a ball and chain around your ankle, but you do have strengths to draw on that can guide you through. The trick is to NOT disown your role in these situations by dismissing the other person as the "bad guy" and seeing yourself as the "good guy." Everyone's issues are participating in this—yours and theirs. So: your greatest strength right now is your ability to focus on higher principles in the face of adversity, intensity and chaos. Although this can be a disadvantage when taken too far, it can also bring a context to your decisions and actions. In other words, aim to nurture an innovative perspective that combines justice and fairness with ethical power. Cultivate the ability to encourage truth as a basis for integrity (rather than a way to lay blame). This can provide the glue that holds messy group dynamics together (e.g., circle of friends, community, etc. that are going through growing pains). And by working closely with the intense aspects of interpersonal and material demands, this can actually liberate you from feeling like you're tied to a rock (like Prometheus). Your family or home may be one of the areas affected by all this, or you might need to delve into the history of the current issues. Keeping the broad perspective in mind will give you a context that helps the ground-level steps make more sense and be more bearable. This is best approached as a long-term process that unfolds over the next few months, so don't be surprised if one solution just leads to more questions. One step at a time.

PISCES

For NEW MOON Cycle in Virgo

September 3 to October 3, 2005

(Takes place in your 7th House of love, balance, harmony, close relationships, marriage, partnership, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, lovers and adversaries.)

Close relationships are the central theme of this lunar cycle. A significant new relationship could come into your life—a lover or close friend, business partner or co-worker, or maybe an adversary to spar with. Alternatively, this could also be a time when you feel it is time to let go of a problem relationship that can't be reconciled, or you might find you are able to heal a troubled relationship by starting to discard a toxic dynamic. Very little of this will be straightforward or easy, though, because there are complexities and undercurrents that make forward motion tricky. For a couple of years now, you've been gradually waking up to new ways to bring out your individuality and uniqueness, and now this is creating ripple effects in your close relationships. This year, you’ve also been building strength of spirit and a better connection to the Universe (intuition, creativity, transformation and spirituality), which is also bringing benefits to your relationships right now. However, currently there are frustrations about communication and how you express yourself that may create irritating problems with friends, co-workers or groups. This may also stir up old worries about whether you can live up to the expectations and standards you feel are put on you, whether by your circle of friends or society at large. However, you're also involved in a process this year of using your connection to the Universe to shine a light into the dark corners of your life, and this can be used to counterbalance other problem areas. Another one of those difficult areas may be learning better ways to express anger and assertiveness, which may seem to conflict with the high principles and spiritual grace that you're trying to bring to (what might be perceived as) "negativity." Your challenge is how to transform yourself into the best you can be, while still accepting that you are human and have human emotions that aren't always about sweetness and light. This is a long-term process of growth that will unfold over the next few months, so don't be discouraged if you can't find fast solutions.

PISCES

For FULL MOON in Pisces

September 17, 2005

(Takes place in your 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your Full Moon, Pisces, since it takes place in your sign! That means it has a special effect in your life, energizing your sense of self and illuminating your inner beauty. This is a very creative and intuitive time for you, full of potential for creative self-expression. It is a time to find inventive approaches to relationships and one-on-one interaction with others. Your recent exploration to find new ways to express your more "primitive" emotions may feel like these are getting worse rather than better. Don't get discouraged! For it is all a natural part of the process of change and growth. When we become more aware of our feelings or the dynamics in a situation, it can often seem to get worse at first. But often this is mostly because we are seeing it more clearly and we are closer to "ground zero." You have strengths and resources that can keep your emotions and perceptions from getting bogged down in discouragement or excessive caution. Stay focused on a higher, spiritual context of where you are going in your life. Keep it all in perspective and remember that you have bigger fish to fry. However, this is not to trivialise or block out the "smaller fish" (which do have importance), but to give them a counterbalancing context that will help you navigate through them. Another area where you might feel some tension is in your work, health or spiritual quest for truth. You might be feeling the weight of expectations, rules, and the demand that you conform to fit a certain kind of image. Or, you might experience a struggle with spiritual dogma and doctrine, where your inborn sense of your own spirituality—as well as some of those "primitive" emotions, like sexuality—don't fit with the rules laid down by the authority figures. However, that developing sense of uniqueness and individuality (mentioned in the New Moon horoscope) can become a resource for freedom and independence. This can help you stay true to your instinctive sense of what is relevant to you. Again: this is not an excuse to disregard things that are necessary (like your job or your doctor), but it can help you find a way to resolve the conflict within yourself.
