ARIES

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother, social reputation and roles in society.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging.

But Aries is always up for a challenge, right? The challenge involves applying your energy in ways that are responsible and empowered, stabilizing and transformative, visionary and practical. This is a time of manifestation, which means there are choices and decisions to be made. You can’t just fly on possibilities or chance impulses now—you will need to decide what you want to do, what path you want to follow and what direction to launch yourself in, based on what you have discovered about yourself and your situations over the last few months.

Speaking your truth is likely to be part of this process, although this may prove more difficult than you imagined or come out more forcefully than you intended. Don’t let impending consequences or implications push you into making a rash or reactive decision. Pick your battles and try not to use a sledge hammer when a fly swatter will do. The good news is that you have the support of extra energy and spontaneous inspiration. The strength to keep moving can be found, in spite of any fear, inhibition, intimidation or disappointment.

Listen to the heart of who you are, what you really want, and what you are realistically prepared to live with. Doing so will help you create a more solid sense of self, rather than just feeling like you're being forced to limit yourself. You might have to revaluate some friendships or alliances with others according to whether they are helping or hindering your career and/or life goals. This process will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

ARIES

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father, childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You're working hard to generate career advancement, advance your live goals and bring stability to your finances and relationships. In order to do this, it is important to look at old childhood patterns, especially relating to your mother and father. Thinking back to the experiences of your past can help you identify patterns of behaviour and reactions that are still with you in your adult relationships. And learning to recognise how these past patterns are echoed in the present will give you valuable information that can help you respond rather than just react.

The final passes of Mars opposite Jupiter (Jan.15) and Mars square Neptune (Jan.18) strongly colour the Full Moon energy for you (Mars being your ruling planet). It is time to apply what you have learned in the past 6 months about how you over- or under-react to what may often turn out to be mostly a projection of your own desires or fears. Think back to the situations that have unfolded during that time. How are you able to manage your reactions and impulses differently now? What have you identified as your worst obstacle or sabotage? How can you respond differently now, so that you get a different result?

It is important to balance the needs of your "Inner Child" (and to acknowledge and validate those needs) with the ability of your "Outer Adult" to respond in a responsible, practical and level-headed way—and not try to support one at the expense of the other.

TAURUS

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have energy and spontaneous inspiration on your side.

This is a time to put structure into place, especially in relationships and how you interact with others. Here are some questions to guide you in organising that structure: What exactly do you and others expect from each other? Where are the boundaries and how are they drawn and enforced? How does the balance of power work between you? And what past experiences (positive or negative) will become a solid part of the foundation on which you will build your mutual future? Some aspects of all this will be explored over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

It might seem as if old relationship problems are just coming back to haunt, but it is more likely that you are returning to old issues to resolve and heal them at a deeper level, which is not the same thing. The courage, fairness and commitment that you establish now will have far-reaching implications for your whole approach to relationships in the future.

The end result of all this is likely to occur in the areas of family, home and your support system. You might be starting to build a new identity within your family, or you may be finding the courage to leave behind an old identity from the past that doesn't work for you anymore. Or, you might have to take on more responsibility at home or with a loved one. Even if this involves an ending of some kind, it also clears the way for new beginnings.

TAURUS

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to formulate a system of ethics and principles, spiritual beliefs and aspiring goals that will take you into the future. It has been a long climb to generate a concrete sense of higher understanding that will give your life new meaning. You've been starting to fit the pieces into place during this cycle. Now comes the step where you need to find ways to express, interpret and embrace what you've formulated.

This is not simply an intellectual exercise of finding the right words, though. It is important to express this in a way that is personal to YOU on an emotional, feeling, intuitive and creative level. For example, this might be accomplished by writing poetry, writing in your journal or talking about it with someone you feel safe revealing your inner feelings to (like a partner, family member, mentor, therapist, etc.). Doing so may take your relationship with this person in a new direction, or you might become aware of the need for change in what you expect from relationships. There is more work to do in this regard, which will take place over the coming weeks.

This is also a time when you may find the courage and the methodology to move forward with your plans, goals and aspirations. You've been struggling with the implications that assertiveness, anger and daring have on your close relationships, and how they change when you exert these (or withhold them). You are in the final stretch of a long-term process (since late last summer) of exploring these areas and finding your comfort zone in terms of how to balance your own interests and desires against the perspective or judgment of others. Draw on what you've learned in the last 6 months.

GEMINI

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, death, rebirth, transformation and sexuality.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of strength of spirit and depth of understanding on your side.

It may feel like there is a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, and that what you communicate and convey about your position in controversial issues will have implications far greater than the immediate situation. And you may be right—but don’t let that intimidate you into paralysis, denial or hiding. You are able to see deeply below the surface of your interpersonal dynamics right now, although that doesn’t mean that others will want to hear you speak the bald truth, much as you may feel it needs to be said.

Negotiations and communication can be tricky right now, requiring a more delicate touch than you may be comfortable with—yet, there are awkward things to be addressed and resolved that cannot be avoided either. The key is to be responsible for what you convey and communicate; to be clear, honest and practical. While this might feel like you're just being stifled, it is actually possible to forge solid and positive change out of this apparent conflict of interest. Keep one eye focused on the vision of where you want to go and the future possibilities that can bring a balance of power into your situation.

Your secret strength lies in your actions, which might be more effective if done behind the scenes or indirectly, rather than “in yer face” or by force. There are spiritual questions that will be explored over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle), but the decisions you make now will affect the direction and focus of the spiritual and philosophical healing that will take place.

GEMINI

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to find ways to empower yourself in fluid and flexible ways, in situations that seem more cut and dried or arbitrary than you'd like them to be. Where you need to nurture yourself is in the area of security and safety, especially finding ways to have a solid foundation supporting you both emotionally and materially.

This may require you to dig much deeper into the roots of relationship dynamics that occur in your life, in order to be able to reorganise your priorities, restructure your boundaries and rebuild damaged relationships. Being willing to acknowledge and speak to the intense realities facing you right now can to a long way to stabilise any difficult situations—provided you resist the urge to either become rigidly controlling or be over-cautious and wind up not saying what needs to be said.

Finding a practical middle road will help you find a path that allows you to take action that is consistent with your highest virtues and puts your higher principles into practice. You've been struggling to find a way to do this for about 6 months now, and you are finally at a point where you are able to put your learning into action. Remember to stay clear, focused and grounded, especially when confronted with power struggles and when you need to address difficult issues with others.

CANCER

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of love, balance, harmony, close relationships, marriage, partnership, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, lovers and adversaries.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of energy, strength and spontaneous intuition to bring to your relationships and your style of interacting with others.

Friends and associates can provide courage and energy to keep you moving through this final phase. This is a time of manifesting the changes, learning and restructuring that you’ve been doing over the last 4 months. During this time, it is important that you be conscious of your mindset—your thoughts, words, expectations, hidden agendas, need for control, etc.—because these will have great impact on your situation.

The areas especially affected include work and money, as well as health, resources and the contributions you make to the world around you. If you have been struggling with issues involving finances, possessions or resources, this is a time when important decisions will likely be made, and the more conscious you are of what you hope for versus what is realistically possible, the better you will be able to control the flow of what happens.

The need to heal and revaluate the power balance between yourself and others is part of a longer term process (during the Venus retrograde cycle), but decisions you make now will set the tone and direction that this process takes over the next couple of months. It will help to keep a sense of ethics, higher purpose and spiritual freedom in mind, to guide you through this time.

CANCER

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your Full Moon, Cancer, because it takes place in your own sign. The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard in the area of relationships lately, very possibly in terms of dealing with others' expectations or boundaries (accepting it when they have to say no, for instance), or needing to find ways to draw better boundaries for yourself (like saying no when you need to). You may be unusually aware of your own personal needs right now, which might be due to a number of reasons. For one thing, you might feel more pressured by those close to you to conform to their wishes...or you could find you are getting conditional support from them (which you might have mixed feelings about).

If you feel isolated or overwhelmed, check to see if you are isolating yourself emotionally and now allowing yourself to accept the support that is offered. This is a time when discussions and negotiations with those close to you can be important because you are likely putting new building blocks into place that will create a more solid structure within which to interact and relate.

You've been struggling for several months with trying to find a balance between your own interests and those of "the Collective" (friends, associates, society at large), and that struggle affects your need to acknowledge and adjust the ideals and illusions you bring to the power balance between you and other people. Discussion and dialogue with the people involved in this dynamic can go a long way in negotiating a better arrangement with them. This might include anything from business contracts to intimate relationship boundaries to work relationships to career promotions. There is more work to be done in these areas over the coming weeks, but you are in a position now to make some strong decisions and progress.

LEO

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service—paid or volunteer—health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of energy, power and support on your side, both from authority figures and from your own sense of authority.

This could well play out in the areas of work and career. You may feel a great deal of pressure on you now, and there are definitely some hard decisions to be made with far-reaching consequences. You may have to take greater responsibility for your actions, desires, ambitions and activities. It's possible you might have to end something that isn't working for you anymore. Or, you might be ready to take on new commitments. The extent to which you are able to embrace this and not run away from it or rebel against it, will reflect the extent to which you are able to maintain control over the process.

The heat generated from the struggles and challenges of the last four months can now be forged into a creative focus to manifest a result that not only transforms your work and life direction, but also impacts the strength of who you are. A little goes a long way now, so wield this power wisely, especially where other people are concerned.

The need for healing relationships and what you want from people close to you is a spin-off process from this creative work, which will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle). Your greatest strength lies in your ability to take creative and concrete action in areas where you have previously struggled, but keep a sense of ethics, fairness, wisdom and perspective in order to use that strength in the best way.

LEO

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, isolation, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

You are now able to increase your awareness and understanding of the issues described at the New Moon. You might also be in a position to speak your truth as it reflects your new understanding of these issues. However, this is not a good time to simply charge ahead into the minefield without some forethought, even though it could be very tempting to do just that.

You have an opportunity to take a further step in your personal transformation, although it might feel more like irritation, intensity and conflict. But be alert to new insights, new awareness and new perspectives on old situations. You may discover that there's something unspoken that no one wants to talk about (e.g., in group situations or with friends), or something that you've been trying to skirt around something that now needs to be acknowledged and dealt with.

In fact, the underlying truth could come flying out more abruptly than intended, leaving you feeling either shaken or inspired (or both!) There is great potential to deal with this in a creative way, both artistically and innovatively, which can bring some release and relief from any tension between home and work, or between your familiar perspective and having to carve out new ways of dealing with issues out in the world.

Issues involving career, goals and asserting yourself as an authority can find empowerment and movement through well thought out risk taking and originality. Unfortunately, that's not likely to directly affect the delays, responsibilities, setbacks or caution you might be dealing with right now, but these hurdles could make you feel more pressured and stressed out about trying to achieve your goals. This stress can be channelled into creative innovation, calculated risk taking, and daring to step out on a limb to see a new perspective that had been previously hidden.

VIRGO

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and "joi de vivre.")

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of vision, inspiration and motivation on your side. Flexibility in your close relationships can also be a strength right now, and those close to you may provide some encouragement to break free of an old rut.

You are struggling with issues about spirituality, ethics, purpose and how to integrate this into your mindset—your thoughts, words, attitudes and understanding. There is a potential for powerful transformation of this process now. This may possibly come through your experience of home and family; for example, you may be ready to deal with the hidden undercurrents of family dynamics in a new way now. Or, it may happen more psychologically by shedding attitudes and beliefs that have kept you trapped in the past.

This catharsis of change comes out of the spiritual struggle you have been working through over the past few months, especially from being held back by arbitrary or rigid circumstances. All of this comes out in a kind of "healing crisis" in which setbacks and problems are really opportunities for healing in disguise. This healing process is a spin-off from the challenges of the last four months, and will continue to unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle). Recommitting to loving yourself and finding your inner beauty will be part of that process.

VIRGO

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues and co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large and vision of the future.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to build a stronger sense of identity and purpose, especially bringing your sense of who you are into relationships and making yourself more available to others who want to relate to you. This is a good time to try this out on friends, associates, groups and communities, who have something you need or hope to get access to. It is possible that old ghosts from the past may come back to haunt when this happens; for example, you might be repeating old family dynamics if you secretly hope others will nurture and support you in ways you didn't get in the past. But this is an opportunity to observe and learn.

Dialogue and discussion are important now, especially where you take a stand and communicate your philosophy and motives regarding what you expect of others. Alternatively, this dialogue may be in the form of creative expression, if you are involved in some creative project that is reaching a turning point. And if you have or are involved with children, the same dynamics will apply to your relationship with them—communication will be important in order to prioritize everyone's needs.

This will all have implications for the relationships you have with the people involved, and possibly for how you approach relationships in general. You are negotiating a new structure within which you can interact and connect with others in a way that is better defined.

LIBRA

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father, childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging.

However, you do have a great deal self-empowerment and healing energy to draw on. In fact, the issues that you have struggled with over the last few months are now generating a great amount of transformation, especially in terms of changing attitudes, mental perspective and powerful communication. A little goes a long way, so use your words and thoughts carefully—don't use a sledge hammer when a fly swatter will do.

Friends, associates and groups may be a source of stress, but may also force you to deal with your difficulties in a realistic way. There is another process emerging now that involves the need to heal your sense of self, your relationship to yourself and your approach to love in general. It's possible that you may be experiencing some heartbreak, loneliness or disappointment right now, which will undergo a process of healing over the coming two months (during the Venus retrograde cycle). Or, you might be rethinking your approach to love, pleasure, creativity or self-expression. Either way, you will likely go through a process of recommitment, restructuring and reorientation over the next couple of months.

In the meantime, you have the opportunity (and the need) to rebuild your support system now, using a new sense of empowerment and strength that is forged from the struggles you have endured over the last four months—and you likely have more than you realise.

LIBRA

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(In your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother, social reputation and roles in society.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to rebuild and restructure your relationships with your family and people from your past, both in your present relationships with them and in terms of how you relate to your memories of them. You may also be relating differently to the people who form your current support system, as well as people you work with or have authority over (or who have authority over you).

In all of these situations, you are in a process of renegotiating the conditions of those relationships—what role you expect to play in the lives of others and what role you are willing to let them play in yours. This is likely to require that you be in the spotlight in some way—which may or may not be comfortable for you. On one hand, you might enjoy the attention and the position of power it puts you in. On the other hand, you might feel a bit vulnerable or exposed and having to make "grown up" decisions when you feel more rooted in your "inner child" self. It is important that you combine both of these components in whatever choices you make.

It will help to establish a cooperative balance between your need to be taken care of and your obligation to take care of yourself; between focusing on authority and equal fellowship in your interactions. You may still be wrestling with the need to be proactive (or even aggressive) in order to maintain an empower position versus being magnanimous and noble and trying instead to earn the loyalty and support of others. A happy medium can be found through structured, practical dialogue and communication.

SCORPIO

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of energy directed toward and through close relationships and your approach to relating.

You have struggled for a few months now, trying to develop your ambitions in a way that is ethical, spiritual, empowered and assertive. This process has been turning a corner and is coming out in the area of finances, resources and income. There is enormous potential for transformation now in financial areas, as well as psychological self-worth, all forged out of the struggles you have endured over the past few months.

Your whole mental outlook is in a position to channel and focus the results of those struggles, but be careful not to try too hard or believe yourself invincible. It's still a tricky situation that requires close attention and discipline. Communication and your mental focus are the areas where this transformation is manifesting, through commitment and forging a more grounded focus through thoughts, words, attitudes and understanding.

There is a spin-off process that comes out of this relating to family, home and the past, especially relationships in these areas. Ultimately this is about healing disruptions in these areas, although initially it may feel more like the situation is just getting worse. Trust that this process will bring you to a better place, as it unfolds over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

SCORPIO

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to create a stronger foundation of communication in your life. This might include learning to express yourself in new ways by being more grounded, practical or restrained in the words that you choose. It might mean bringing communication into your work in some new way. Or it might involve changing the way you frame your relationship to authority figures, or adjusting how you convey authoritative information to people.

This process has evolved into a need to put these changes into a broader context that draws from your spiritual beliefs and your philosophy of life. You have a need to reach a greater understanding of what it all means, especially to feel that this grand scheme of things contains a place where you can belong and feel a welcome part of it all. Therefore, while you're carving out new ways of conveying your position of authority, be sure you don't abandon your "Inner Child." Find ways to include your subjective experience and personal needs with all those objective expectations and "grown up" decisions.

You may still be struggling between feeling you have to be headstrong in confronting other people (or when they confront you) versus wanting to be more laid back, philosophical and inspired to win their loyalty and cooperation. Communication, dialogue and stating your position clearly and pragmatically will help to find a happy medium between these extremes and help bring stability to relationship interactions. Watch for echoes from the past that creep into present dynamics with others; for example, repeating family dynamics in the way you deal with current relationships and interactions.

SAGITTARIUS

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of energy to make things work, provide service to others and improve your health.

You have an unusually powerful presence right now, especially in the ways that you express yourself, like words and body language. A little goes a long way, so use your words and expressiveness wisely! Where this might be difficult is in trying to reconcile the conflicts and differences between spiritual principles and their practical application.

You've been wrestling with this one for a while, and it is now time to begin taking your principles, values and your understanding of the Big Picture, and to commit it all to a systemized structure of guidelines, rules, boundaries, definitions and natural limits. This is NOT intended to suppress your potential or spirit, but to provide a hearth within which your Fire can burn steadily and powerfully. That's why it's important to build a structure that can realistically support and meet your needs, rather than just relenting to others' expectations. The more aware you are of the values, principles and deeper emotional issues that are involved in what you're trying to achieve, the more you will be in a position to consciously choose how to build that structure.

If you find you're facing immovable barriers, ask yourself what purpose and higher meaning they might provide—closing a door in one area may be the only way that another one can be opened down the road. You may need to go back and gather better resources for the changes ahead, or perhaps there are questions about self-worth that have been stirred up. Or there may need to be adjustments in your close relationships and friendships. This will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

SAGITTARIUS

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, transformation, death/rebirth, the occult, secrets and resources from other people.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to build better resources, both in terms of material wealth and internal personal strength. But it's hard to do this in a vacuum, and inevitably one must bring the outside world into the picture, which tends to also bring in power issues, ownership issues and dealing with what goes on under the surface of interactions. You are challenged now to empower yourself in the very place you feel most vulnerable and open. This might seem like a contradiction in terms, but it is important now to explore this. You may find that there's a magical or mysterious quality in that vulnerable place, which leads you to find a much deeper intuitive truth below the surface of the circumstances in your life. You may also find there is a "dark" side to your situation that needs to be explored on a very personal level.

In order to access these deeper levels, it will help to feel safe and supported so that you can let yourself be open emotionally, intuitively and/or creatively. You might find that questions about material security or physical safety (or the lack of these) seem more important because they're easier to define, but don't dismiss the deeper aspects of what is happening now.

Check in with your body and your feelings which can provide access to the deeper mysteries of life, rather than just relying on your usual fiery inspiration to guide you. By allowing yourself to perceive the intangible, invisible and hidden aspects of your experience through your body and the physical world, you will begin to build a new structured approach to the spiritual side of life that can give you a more solid connection to it.

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of creative energy and spontaneous expression at your disposal.

There is a lot of intensity and energy going on under the surface, both in you and around you right now. You are probably able to perceive intuitively the hidden dynamics in your environment, but either you can't find the words to adequately communicate this or else your words may be too blunt and therefore unwelcome by the recipient who might prefer not to know. This may cause considerable stress and tension, since this could feel like a personal rejection or an attempt to keep you controlled. Alternatively, you may attempt to control the situation yourself, in an effort to resolve a conflict between your personal interests versus the interests of others.

The trick is not to doubt your inherent talents, integrity or your place in the grand scheme of things. It is one thing to question, examine and delve below the surface to see the true nature of your motives, feelings and ambitions, but don't strip your self-esteem to the bone trying to live up to expectations (your own or others').

You may be starting a new process of questioning the inherent worth of both your tangible and intangible substance (e.g., your value as a human being, your talents, the divine spark of uniqueness that is your spirit, etc., as well as financial and material worth). This does NOT mean you're losing ground or regressing, after working so hard to achieve a state of self-empowerment and change over the last few months. It DOES mean that there are deeper issues and implications to that empowerment that need to be explored in order for the manifestation to be complete. This will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

CAPRICORN

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of Significant Others, relationships, partnerships, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, and balance.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to build a new foundation in your life and this cycle brings the opportunity to implement your plans. You are challenged to take these plans and establish a balance between yourself and others who are close to you (spouse, business partner, counsellor, close friend, etc.). It is important to find ways to ensure that your personal need for nurturing, belonging and emotional security are being met and respected in your close relationships.

However, your attempts to negotiate this now may raise as many questions as answers, and create as many problems as solutions. The reason may be that as you bring your own agenda into a relationship, it will alter the dynamic between you and the other person, which will require more adjustment between the two of you. There is a chance that you might (unconsciously?) want the other person to take care of your needs and act a bit like a substitute parent for your "Inner Child," or vice versa – the other person might be looking for you to play that role for them. This kind of interpersonal projection is likely to create more friction because you lose control of what you project.

It is important that you take responsibility now for your own growth and empowerment, as much as you are able, but it is equally important that you not sacrifice or suppress your personal needs in the process. Your approach to relationships is changing a lot right now and will continue throughout the Venus retrograde cycle (until early March), so trust the process and take it one step at a time.

AQUARIUS

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, solitude, privacy, alone time, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging.

However, you do have a great deal of assertive energy available to get the emotional support you need as well as a renewed sense of spiritual self-worth. This might involve finally breaking free of old dynamics, toxic relationships or conflicts from the past. It could also release energy to pursue career dreams and a more meaningful life direction.

Close relationships, and your approach to them, are likely to be the pivot point of all this change. You have been wrestling in these areas for a while now, and much of this is reaching a turning point now. You may find you have to end a relationship that hasn't been working for a while, or you might have to assert a strong position with someone close to you—both of which will require courage and a sense of purpose. This may be found with the help of your support system...or might even be found by breaking free of your support system and becoming more independent. It all depends on the direction you've been heading in the last few months.

Some of the changes or conflicts happening in close relationships now are spin-off implications and results of the changes and hard work you've been doing over the past few months. The current shift is now toward healing by beginning to find a clearer sense of spiritual love, universal beauty and intuitive creativity. This will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle).

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service, paid or volunteer, health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard to develop a stronger connection to the non-physical and the non-rational—imagination, spirituality and creativity. This lunar cycle has given you a chance to put some of those building blocks in place. You may be finding that, ironically, it is through the physical that you are able to make progress in connecting to the non-physical. For example, your body may be picking up on the subtle dynamics happening around you, providing you with a kind of extrasensory perception through the senses. The physical world of nature may also provide fertile ground to explore the metaphysical qualities of life.

However, it is now time for you to take what you've been learning and exploring and share it with others, especially in the form of service (giving of yourself for the benefit of others—with or without pay). Healing is another way to channel this metaphysical energy—for your own healing or for others. In particular, you may find that emotional comforting and support for vulnerable feelings is as much a part of the healing process as medicine.

Close relationships may be undergoing a lot of restructuring now, as you reconsider and revaluate what is important to you, especially in light of this new experience of spiritual and creative energy. You might find that you are looking for the Universe to provide some of the support and connection that you have previously looked for in your relationships with other people. Alternatively, you may also find that you are starting to see beyond illusions and wishful thinking that you had brought into those relationships without realising it. This process will continue until early March, throughout the Venus retrograde cycle.

PISCES

For NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

December 30/05 to January 29/06

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues, associates, co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large, and vision and hopes for the future.)

Now that Mars has finally turned direct, this New Moon cycle provides a time of moving forward with the projects, ambitions, visions and intuition you’ve been exploring over the past four months. As usual through those four months, doing so is likely to be complex and challenging. However, you do have a great deal of mental energy available, which could bring some radical ideas and assertive communication.

The question you're facing is: How do you participate in society and your immediate environment in a way that meets your needs as an individual as well as the needs of others, without sacrificing one in order to satisfy the other? There is a strong need to be of service in some way, and you might feel forced into doing something you really don't want to do. And yet, if you look closely, you may see that there are advantages in doing so that can further your career and life goals. In fact, there is enormous potential available to move forward in your goals, especially which involve deep-seated change in/through communication, ideas and change of attitude.

You have the power to persuade, but be careful how you use this. A little goes a long way and you would be wise to pick and choose very carefully what you ask for and communicate. It will help a lot to balance being a team player with asserting your individual ideas and interests, and to take control of only your own actions and direction (not those of others). Keeping a spiritual focus on your higher principles and values will definitely help, although you may be going through a revaluation of those areas right now.

This does not mean you're backsliding after all your efforts of the last few months. Rather, it means there are questions coming out of the answers and conclusions that need to be explored before you can arrive at final answers. This will unfold over the next couple of months (during the Venus retrograde cycle). It will help to take a creative, intuitive approach to cultivating a sense of Universal Love.

PISCES

For FULL MOON in CANCER

January 14, 2005

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and joi de vivre.)

The New Moon saw a movement of energy that required you to cultivate your empowerment by finding a workable balance between assertive action and disciplined caution. The Full Moon now challenges you to apply what you've learned, to support your inner needs and intuition, as well as your identity and creativity.

You've been working hard at cultivating friendships and alliances with people who can help you with a long-term healing process, or whom you can help with this. You might also be busy creating a concrete vision of future goals that you want to develop and bring into being, which involves seeking out people and organisations who can help you make that happen. It is now time for these plans and dreams to be born.

New associates and friends may come into your life now who can support your vision, but don't be surprised if you find yourself taking a different, even uncharacteristic approach to these alliances than you have in the past—your priorities may be very different, now that you can get a taste of what is to come. It is important for you to carefully combine your own playful creativity with a commitment to be responsible for making your own plans happen.

It is this curious alliance between your most vulnerable intuitive creativity and your most concrete strength that will ultimately form the key that unlocks the door to your future. Associates and friends might provide the structure, but it is you own creative ability that is born from this support. And you may have to surrender and have faith that the Universe will provide what you need, but it will be your own elbow grease and hard work that will ultimately make it happen. Communication and negotiation with your support team and friends will help you find a balance between raw information and a more integrated understanding of what it all means.
