NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father (or Mother), childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

Since the last Full Moon (Jun.11), you've confronted some boundaries, limitations and responsibilities in your life. Your mission now is evolving into a quest to acknowledge your ideals, hopes and dreams. You may have to challenge some illusions that have blocked your awareness and prevented you from clearly seeing those realities that you have been running into like a brick wall.

At the same time, you will likely find interwoven with those illusions some of your highest and most noble humanity—the part of you that strives to align yourself with the Universal Spirit (in whatever way that is meaningful to you). It may take some time and effort to see this clearly through the fog of wishful thinking. In fact, this may come to you as a revelation that could feel a bit unnerving.

At the heart of this process are echoes from the past that have amplified your vision of what you want the future to hold, as well as your perception of the people whom you believe can help you reach those heights. You may find that friends or groups can't give you the support you crave deep inside, but they can help and encourage you in unexpected or unconventional ways. You really are a Child of the Universe, although it may take some Adult courage to recognize that.

ARIES

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother (or Father), social reputation and roles in society.)

This is a time when you can take a few steps in the journey of growing up, which we tend to do in phases and stages. In fact, you have an opportunity now to bridge the worlds between the past and the present, between your Inner Child and your Adult, and between your foundation of support and the goals and achievements that you build in your life.

You also have an opportunity to connect with your sense of love—self-love, love of another person, enjoyment of your surroundings, or just the joy of being. You are probably feeling more empowered and in balance now, although perhaps uncertain whether that is enough to reach the heights you are aiming for. Don't let perfectionism or idealism unravel what you've worked hard to win.

With Mercury still retrograde in your solar 4th house, you may be rethinking decisions about your home, family, emotional security needs and/or your style of nurturing others. It's unlikely you'll have to unravel everything—probably mainly tie up some loose ends in order to make adjustments and put the decisions behind you in August (after Mercury goes direct).

TAURUS

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

This is a time to speak and act from the heart—to give a voice to your feelings, hopes, dreams and ambitions. However, you may also find that what comes out of your heart is a mixed bag of confused or complex thoughts, feelings and expectations.

You might be focused on the acquisition of finances, possessions, skills, resources or profitable ideas, but find that clarifying or manifesting your plans becomes elusive or unsatisfying. There may be more that you need to examine in the context of your overall ambitions and goals—especially whether they demand a higher standard of perfection than you can realistically reach.

You may find you get farther if you aim for smaller goals that are more easily reached. Allow your experience to guide you, both from the past and your immediate situation. Keep your eyes open and watch for opportunities that appear in subtle, unexpected or intuitive ways.

TAURUS

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

You've been gathering basic information and giving a voice to your feelings, dreams and ambitions. It is now time to start to formulate decisions that are based on the big picture of what it all means. In other words, you may need to deal with specifics but that doesn't mean you have to be restricted or pessimistic about your conclusions.

You may be dealing with tensions under the surface, especially to do with secrets or hidden agendas or power issues around wealth. However, you also have resources, support and a sense of vision that help to balance the stress and allow you to make the best of the situation.

With Mercury still retrograde in your solar 3rd house, you may be rethinking your emotional perspective. You may have to repeat your requests for support or emotional connection, especially with friends. Or, friends might provide feedback that makes you think twice about what your real feelings and needs are.

GEMINI

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

You are challenged to grapple with existential and philosophical questions about material security, especially in terms of how this affects your sense of self-worth and your perceived place in the Universe. For example, does a lack of money make you feel alienated from the Universe? Or perhaps you are reaching for a more stable container in which to manage your finances, resources and abilities.

Aside from the fact that it's natural to feel vulnerable when these areas are disrupted, you may discover that it feels like this rips apart the way you are interwoven into the fabric of the Universe. You may need to rethink your approach and attitude toward these areas, as your ruling planet Mercury goes retrograde (Jul.04-28).

You may have an opportunity that eases your situation at the start of July, and new plans may start to fall into place more easily around mid-July. In the meantime, hard work is the best way for you to make progress in building your supportive nest of finances, resources and well-being. It may help to aim for short-term opportunities for a while, giving the long-term goals more time to gather themselves into a more solid plan.

GEMINI

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, transformation, death/rebirth, the occult, secrets and resources from other people.)

This is a time when issues about money, possessions and abundance are in focus, as well as your ideals and self-image that are connected to these issues. You may have to rethink your whole strategy around finances.

For example, you might question the source of your material support (your own income, help from family, barter or other resources). You might find that this support is provided by the Universe when you need it, or that you are appreciative of what you have, but it may not entirely solve your problems or meet your needs.

This in turn could lead you to doubt whether you're doing the right thing or if you will ever find the direction that works for you (career, goals or just committing yourself to new possibilities). It will be a long-term process to explore what those possibilities are, though. Don't expect to make any final decisions until at least August. In the meantime, allow yourself to appreciate the blessings that you do have for now.

CANCER

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your New Moon, Cancer, since it takes place in your sign! This lunar cycle brings opportunities to increase your self-esteem, expand your creativity and have some fun. First, however, you may have to work at resurrecting your sense of well-being from a place of confusion, illusion or hiding in the shadows.

Is it possible that when you are open to your intuition lately, you tend to get a bit lost, disillusioned or overwhelmed by the shining possibilities? It may be that your emotional needs are out of sync with your ideals that seem to promise salvation and satisfaction. It may help to allow both (spiritual ideals and ego-based needs) to co-exist without requiring one to be the answer for—or to compete with—the other.

In the meantime, keeping your focus on your work and dealing with the realities that are in front of you will help to keep you grounded. This may not seem glamorous or uplifting, but there is a reprieve of fun, joy and opportunity that's not far behind.

CANCER

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of "Significant Others," relationships, partnerships, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, and balance.)

Your close relationships now take a role in your quest to bring balance between your spiritual and personal needs which began at the New Moon. For example, your partner or spouse might need to talk about the division of responsibilities, chores or finances. Or, your best friend might give you some feedback that causes you to rethink the expectations you have of them (or their expectations of you).

It seems that what began as a duality between the personal and the spiritual has evolved to now be applied in a "self versus other" context. Perhaps you need someone close to you to provide more solid or committed support than you're getting. Or maybe you need to consider how secret ideals, hopes or fantasies are distracting from establishing a more stable close relationship with someone.

Awareness is the key, especially at an emotional or intuitive level. The question is: How do you tell genuine intuitive perception from wishful or paranoid thinking? Try using your intuition as a guide rather than hard fact. Then let the test of time and clear observation show how much fact there really is. Final conclusions will probably have to wait until well into August.

LEO

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, solitude, privacy, alone time, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

You have been through a challenging time lately, Leo! Mars and Saturn doing battle in your sign throughout June have brought you (more than many other signs) through a time of hard decisions, hard work and hard-headedness. For another week or so your main focus will be on finishing up this work, and then you'll be able to clean up the debris and apply your energy to new plans.

In the meantime, you are now able to connect on an intuitive, emotional and creative level with the realm of the imagination, dreams, illusions and meditation. You might feel the need to spend some "alone time" (either physically or just intimately connected to your innermost thoughts and feelings). There is definitely value in this, although it might feel a bit conflicted with another urge to stay connected with others who are close to you (e.g., spouse, partner, close friend).

You may wind up feeling like you have to sacrifice the chance to connect at an intimate level with someone if you take the time with yourself. Yet, taking that time may be the only way you can nurture and connect with a deeper part of you that very much needs your awareness right now. It will help to be a kind and wise parent to yourself for a while, which can feed your well-being.

LEO

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service, paid or volunteer, health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

This is when that "alone time" is likely to be most important. You may be out in the world a lot now, focusing on your work, and need that quiet space in order to recharge your batteries. Or you might need that "inner sanctum" to connect with your reasons for why you're doing whatever you're doing in the outside world.

There may be some confusion still about where people close to you fit into this private agenda. The truth is that you may need more time or opportunity to focus internally, in order to become more grounded in how you want to apply your awareness in your day-to-day life. Or, you might need to share your inner thoughts, feelings and needs with someone close to you, so that they can support you in your journey.

You are probably starting to feel a bit more empowered and balanced now, although perhaps a bit uncertain where you should go from here. Or, someone close to you might be guiding you or reflecting the ideal of what you want to achieve, but maybe you're not sure you have what it takes. You can benefit by staying in that struggle and finding creative solutions that draw on your strengths (not run away from your weaknesses).

VIRGO

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues, associates, co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large, and vision and hopes for the future.)

Lately you've been working a lot behind the scenes, or trying to achieve a goal by working in private, or perhaps trying to find a way to manifest a vision of meaning that isn't easily captured. You have an opportunity now to get some support from friends, advisors or groups of people who want to help.

However, you may also find it difficult to accept their help without feeling like they just don't understand your vision. Or, others may challenge you to reach beyond your immediate obstacles and problems, to bring a sense of higher purpose into what you are doing. This can be more productive and helpful than it sounds, since it can give you an infusion of new optimism and inspiration that will pay off as the lunar cycle unfolds.

You don't have to grasp it all at once, though. When Mercury goes retrograde in July (4-28), you will have a chance to rethink and reflect on that higher purpose, and discover ways to balance your private struggles with your connection to community and your vision for the future. Don't take it as a step backward—take it as a chance to dig a little deeper where the hidden gems are buried.

VIRGO

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and joi de vivre.)

Although you may not be working behind the scenes as much now as you were a couple of weeks ago, you probably can't move full steam ahead just yet. You might need to confer with others about your plans, or you might be having a debate with someone around ideology or strategy. This is a necessary and important part of the developmental process.

You need to bring your personal needs, creativity, playfulness and "heart" into what you're doing. Doing this may seem a bit elusive because you may doubt whether that will be enough to achieve the grand vision you are aiming for. However, what you want to achieve probably can't be realised until you have grounded it in who you are, your talents and skills. You need to make it "real" to you personally.

Part of how you can make it "real" is to re-examine your relationship to friends, associates, groups and your community, perhaps to identify the differences between your perspective and theirs...and maybe the similarities too. You may also need to refine your plans, hopes and dreams for the future, adjusting these to ensure that all the different parts of you have a say in where you are going.

LIBRA

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother (or Father), social reputation and roles in society.)

Your creative vision and nurturing instinct are calling you, Libra—although they may sound more like fusion jazz than an angelic choir. You may get an opportunity to take an authority role with someone who needs a helping hand. Or, you might be implementing a project whose idea you've been nurturing for a while. Or, you might find your need to be the center of attention is strong now.

The broad vision of creativity or self-image that you carry into this lunar cycle may leave you feeling your meagre efforts are unworthy or fall short. With the struggles you've been through in the last month, to increase your base of resources as well as to balance the practical realities of your life, it's understandable if you are tempted to feel a bit discouraged or overwhelmed. But take heart—you're probably doing better than you think!

There is an intuitive perception that is tickling the edges of your awareness, almost like it's "on the tip of your tongue." But it will likely require deeper consideration and processing over the coming month or so, for you to understand it more fully. This has to do with how to tap into a sense of loving inspiration and creative vision, and learning to see the best in people and situations even in the face of hardship and conflict.

LIBRA

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father (or Mother), childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

It's time to take a look back at where you have been and where you're coming from, before you're ready to proceed toward where you want to go. You are still guided by a sense of vision, which is likely in clearer focus now. However, there is hidden or obscure information that may challenge that vision and require you to dig deeper below the surface appearance of what you want to achieve.

You might feel a little lethargic right now and unsure of where you're going or whether you have what it takes to get there. However, staying true to your vision and shining some love onto the horizon in front of you will help keep you from getting discouraged. You might also feel a little out of your depth where your vision is concerned, or you might be concerned that the more sinister aspects of life could tarnish the glow of what you feel is possible. Taking one step at a time and staying focused on your self-confidence will help to balance this out.

In the meantime, you will probably have to wait until August (after Mercury goes direct) before you have all the facts in—including how you feel about all this, which is yet another ingredient that gets thrown into the mix. Remember that you are in a process, not an instantaneous event. Give yourself the time you need and deserve.

SCORPIO

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

Scorpio, it is time to reach for a more loving, trusting relationship to "Life, the Universe and Everything." However, this may sound preposterous at the moment, since you've been struggling to resolve a conflict between possible spiritual paranoia (wondering if the Universe is conspiring to hold you back) and the willpower to manifest blessings by your own sweat and determination.

Yet, it is time to wrestle with the question of how to fulfil your purpose as a Child of the Universe, and figure out what that means to you. You may have echoes from the past (e.g., childhood) that disrupt or challenge your current ability to trust that the Universe has your best interests at heart. However, it is important that you "stay in the struggle" and not just give up. That struggle has been a blessing in disguise, since it has given you a kind of spiritual and practical workout.

Although you may be experiencing some lingering indecision or feeling like you're spinning your wheels and making little progress, there are new opportunities on the horizon that can give you an infusion of inspiration and confidence. Then, no matter how small or hard-won your blessings may seem, or how remote the Universe might have seemed to be—don't forget to say thank-you (and mean it).

SCORPIO

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

It is time to ground your developing spiritual awareness in simple day-to-day information—being conscious of the little things that support you throughout your day. Although it seems like it should be straightforward or easy, this requires that you maintain a tricky dual awareness between the bit picture and the practical details. This requires focus and discipline using a kind of "intuitive logic." But you have a valuable resource to help you do this in your growing ability to break out beyond the normal boundaries that define who you are.

On one hand, you might feel uncertain about how or where to proceed and feel a bit stuck in quicksand. But you have a natural ability now to attract the resources and empowerment you need, at least enough to get you over this hump.

On the other hand, you are facing a powerful challenge to draw enough resources to build a solid foundation of material security, which might make you wonder if you are up to the challenge. However, you have a lot of passionate motivation now that can keep you moving forward, despite recent and current delays, blocks or frustrations. Trust the process. Better yet, have faith in your own abilities which combine in partnership with the Universe to co-create the results you're after.

SAGITTARIUS

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, death, rebirth, transformation and sexuality.)

There is a kind of magical, mysterious quality to feelings, and during this lunar cycle you are urged to explore this enigmatic realm. The best way (perhaps the only real way) to do this is through your intuition, feelings, creativity and sense of the unknown.

However, you might feel like you have one hand tied behind your back and cotton batting stuffed into your mouth, with the obstacles that have been in your way for the last month or so. Lately you have been reaching for new meaning and vision in your life, yet have had to wrestle this out of the iron grip of hard work and what might feel like a rather "un-spiritual," gritty attitude of sheer determination.

Although this will linger for a while longer, the hardest part is pretty much behind you and you will be turning a corner on your efforts as the Full Moon approaches (when Jupiter stations Direct on Jul.06). This lunar cycle also brings some hard-earned confidence, relief and ease. It will help to not reach so far for enlightenment that you lose yourself in it. Instead just tune into the mysteries of your personal feelings and intuition.

SAGITTARIUS

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

Over the last couple of weeks, you have been encountering the mysterious depths of feelings and spiritual connection. It is now time to ground these experiences in something more concrete, so that you will not entirely lose that connection when day-to-day events distract you from it. This will also help you bridge the gap between the spiritual and the physical, and between the sublime and the mundane.

One way to do this is by being willing to let go of attachments to the past that no longer serve you well. This might at first lead you to feel disoriented or disconnected from your basic survival needs. But remember that letting go of something we've carried around inside us is a process, not an event. This process will continue until well into August (after Mercury goes direct).

You might feel a little confused or uncertain of what direction to go in now, and people you are close to can possibly help with that by providing valuable information. You might also wonder if you can trust that information or question whether you should rely on their input. But you will likely find you have more self-sufficient drive and sense of where you want to go than you're giving yourself credit for.

CAPRICORN

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of love, balance, harmony, close relationships, marriage, partnership, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, lovers and adversaries.)

You have made some progress in your quest to find greater empowerment and to find a common ground between this and allowing hope and optimism into your life in a new way. There may have been some struggles with friends, advisors or groups, and there is still some work left to be done in these areas.

However, those close to you (spouse, partner, very close friends) can probably add some ease and freedom from the stress now. Alternatively, that stress could also have a beneficial effect on your close relationships, perhaps because you bring to them some of the strength that struggle has given you.

However, there is still a lingering question about how stable, solid or satisfying your close relationships really are, and this is a deeper question requiring a more complex exploration. It's possible that close relationships will work better right now if you focus mainly on the friendship aspect, than trying to reach a greater sense of meaning, significance or intimacy.

Top of Page

CAPRICORN

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your Full Moon, Capricorn, because it takes place in your sign! Relationships are still in focus now, but there is another perspective required to balance out these issues—yours! Your own personal needs, feelings and security form the missing ingredient. What do you really need to feel safe in a close encounter with another person? What is necessary for you to feel comfortable enough to be emotionally connected to others, yet not so much that you feel controlled or overwhelmed?

Maintaining an attitude that is light, free and open-minded can help because it will keep you from getting too stuck in your need for order and predictability. However, this may generate argument or disagreement with someone close to you, or you may have to reconsider if your relationship with that person needs to be reformed and changed.

Much of your vision of what is possible may be buried and need to be set free—perhaps cloaked in secret mystery or walled off by a need to maintain control. Or, possibly suppressed by the fear that the freedom and liberation you desire could have consequences that would be difficult to live with. Give yourself some time to think about all this before you make any final decisions (ideally until August, well after Mercury goes direct).

AQUARIUS

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service—paid or volunteer—health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

You have come through a very challenging time in the last month or so, in which you have likely swung between stressful extremes. Although the worst is probably past you by now, there is still unfinished business to be dealt with. On one hand, you're reaching to find greater meaning, morality or purpose in your life, especially in your career, goals and roles of authority. On the other hand, you may be challenged or blocked by someone close to you (spouse, partner, close friends, etc.), requiring you to be more realistic and deal with the immediate and mundane matters at hand. And you may also be struggling with persistent issues of health, self-esteem, self-expression, or perhaps questioning if the world really wants (or is ready for) what you have to offer.

And in the middle of all this, you must still focus on the day-to-day things you must do to make it all happen. Somehow, your vision of who you are and the inspirational mission you are trying to accomplish could seem to get lost in the shuffle. It might be easy to feel that you are stuck having to take tiny steps when you want to take great strides.

Take heart, though, because those seemingly small steps and humble actions can reach further than you realise. Approach your day-to-day activities like a loving parent who nurtures and shapes their child's development in small ways that have far-reaching effects. Doing so can bring new opportunities, inspiration and confidence to your goals and ambitions.

AQUARIUS

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, isolation, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

You probably don't feel blocked in the same way as you have in the last few weeks, but your plate is still pretty full with many different activities, issues and agendas to juggle. In the midst of so much to do, it might be difficult to know how to proceed with your plans.

You might feel you should be out in the world being productive and making things happen, but there's also a big part of you that needs to retreat and tune inward to your spiritual center. You may need to recharge your batteries, or remind yourself of the reasons you're doing any of this to begin with.

You probably also need to rethink some aspects of how you're going about those plans (until August, after Mercury goes direct). Even though a practical methodology probably feels like it would be counterproductive or impossible to achieve, it's important not to just give up on it. You have the ability to take a creative, inventive approach to this and still satisfy the need for structure and order. There are still some obstacles you'll have to climb over, but have patience. Your quest of combining liberation with practicality and the public with the private is one that will take some time.

PISCES

NEW MOON in CANCER

June 25 to July 25, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and "joi de vivre.")

You have been struggling with the question of how to find inspiration, meaning and a sense of higher purpose, and how to manifest this in your life. But lately it may seem like the higher quest gets lost in the day-to-day necessities and struggles, perhaps leading you to question whether you just need to try harder or if you're tilting at windmills.

Your focus now lies in nurturing and expressing who you are, or perhaps helping someone else do this (like a child or someone else for whom you are a support person). Creative inspiration is available to use in your quest, although it could easily get short-circuited if you get tangled up in believing that your here-and-now efforts pale in comparison to the grand vision of what you want to accomplish. This could trigger you into erratic or inconsistent action in an effort to compensate for what you might feel is your own ineffectiveness.

The truth is the creative, playful Inner Child in yourself (or others) can help you find new inspiration and meaning through innocence and openness. And what you have recently learned about the higher purpose in your life (or what you want that to be) can give your Inner Child a context greater than yourself in which you can belong. But remember: small steps.

PISCES

Full Moon in Capricorn

July 10, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues and co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large and vision of the future.)

It is time to take your creativity and self-expression and test it out in the world. For example, you might try out new ideas, projects, goals or plans on friends, advisors or support groups. It is important to choose a person or group that can be supportive and challenge you in constructive ways, while also encouraging you to aim for your highest potential.

Feedback from others might mean you have to rethink what you're doing, which can be frustrating. But while Mercury is retrograde until the end of July, there is likely more to consider about what you're trying to accomplish anyway.

You are in a long-term process of trying to combine many different components—creative and functional, spiritual and practical, serious and fun, liberating and responsible, etc. Small steps will get you through the tricky places. Being realistic will help keep you on track. And being open-minded and inventive will keep you flexible enough to make necessary changes.
