ARIES

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and "joi de vivre.")

It's time to celebrate your existence! You are encouraged to honour your strength, embrace your talents, express your creativity and enjoy life. It is also a time to acknowledge your psychic wounds (or your ability to wound others) and find healing through self-acceptance. Remember: you are both the Universe's perfect child AND you are a fallible "work in progress."

The trick for you, Aries, is to tread that fine line between those paradoxes by being able to be honest about your shortcomings, without falling into the trap of being too hard on yourself or "nit-picking" yourself to death. Your strength right now lies in analyzing, organizing, and being realistically honest about what is working in your life and what is not. This will work best when you make small adjustments that will help you get back on track, rather than giant strides that could create more problems than they solve.

It is important to find that self-accepting balance point within yourself. If you stray off that fine line, you might fall into the trap of fearing you are inadequate or overcompensating with the belief that you can do no wrong. Neither is correct. Instead, by nurturing and supporting your need for love and security (instead of trying to toughen up by denying your need for these), you can increase your sense of confidence, peace and empowerment.

This is not the best time to take decisive action (with Mercury still retrograde until July 28 and still sluggish for a week or so after that), but is a time to gather information, skills, strategy and "ingredients" that will be there when you're ready to commit to action.

ARIES

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues and co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large and vision of the future.)

The cosmic focus is now shifting toward your dreams, imagination and your highest potential. You are asked to reach out to embrace Universal Love in your dealings with Humanity (and all its subsets, like community, friends, etc.). But it's not enough to pay "lip service" to these ideals. You are challenged to find ways to integrate these ideals into your life in concrete, specific ways. A good motto is: Think globally, act locally.

So, Aries... What dreams do you have for Humanity? What would you like to see the world become (or even just your corner of it) in the next few years? And more to the point: what can you do to help make that a reality? As with the New Moon, it is probably best to think in terms of small adjustments and steps, rather than huge leaps.

Perhaps you have a vision of bringing together people of like minds who can creatively tackle the problems of the world. Why not start an online forum? Or, maybe you would like to find others who share your sense of spiritual connection through service or healing. You might start by volunteering at the local Food Bank. Or, you might try gathering a group of friends together to do something collectively that you have difficulty doing individually. In other words, you could find those "kindred spirits" by doing the very thing that you would like to share with them.

TAURUS

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father (or Mother), childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

The trick for you, Taurus, is to find your voice that expresses your need for nurturing, security, creativity and emotional ease, without falling into the trap of feeling that your circumstances will never fully support your efforts to get your needs met. In the absence of that mythical "perfect world," it may be tempting to believe that what is left is valueless or pointless. Not true! In fact, you are about to embark on a long-term journey that will allow you to bring a higher vision into your life.

You may be able to get some reassurance from others (especially those close to you) that you do indeed deserve the support you seek. However, if they try to comfort you by blaming your circumstances or authority figures, they might mean well but it is just as likely to aggravate your sense of helplessness by focusing on outside forces that are beyond your control.

Better to keep yourself open to unexpected insight and opportunities that will reveal themselves over the coming week or so (especially after Mercury goes direct on July 28 and for another week or so after that). Your intuition can probably guide you in spontaneous or surprising ways. Your optimism and self-confidence will be more accessible if they're not stuck in the mud of feeling like nothing will ever change.

TAURUS

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother (or Father), social reputation and roles in society.)

So, Taurus... What dreams do you have about making your mark in this world? Do you dream of leading a "global family?" Perhaps you want to establish a "chosen family" made up of special people in your life? You might try choosing some famous people that you admire to be your role models, who can inspire you to work toward some visionary goals in your life.

This connection to family may actually be very relevant for you, Taurus, not just symbolic or poetic. It's possible you are struggling with blocks and inhibition from the past (especially from childhood, possibly related to your father) that have interfered with your ability to pursue your dreams. In order to let go of the past, you'll need to pick it up, accept its existence, acknowledge its role in your life, and embrace your learning from it. Then you can proceed into a brighter future without the ball and chain around your ankle. This is a long-term process that you are now beginning.

GEMINI

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

The trick for you, Gemini, is to become aware of your limitations and imperfections without falling into a depressive slump or becoming disconnected from the world around you. Your finances and sense of self-worth may both be a bit sluggish or unclear right now, and one condition may just feed into the other.

With your ruling planet Mercury still retrograde until July 28 (and shaking the sleep from his brain for another week or so after that), it will help to remain patient and self-nurturing. Your mental focus can play a strong role now, so try to stay focused on parenting yourself with gentleness, love, validation, and caring (not harsh) self-discipline.

It may be necessary to conserve and budget your energy and your finances for a bit longer. Practicing good self-care and self-acceptance—even (especially!) in the face of hardship or uncertainty—can ultimately transform, strengthen and stabilize your ability to value yourself from within. Both material and spiritual rewards will find their way to you more easily if you can keep from getting stuck in negative thinking or self-doubt.

GEMINI

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

So, Gemini... What dreams do you have about the way the world could be? Do you perhaps have a vision of sharing your spiritual inspiration in a way that embraces diversity and equality? Or maybe you would love to be part of a global education project that allows people to share their knowledge and wisdom? Although your dreams may seem out of reach, it is possible to take some small steps that can get you involved. Doing so will have a greater impact than you might think.

In the meantime, finances may benefit from taking radical action or an unusual approach. You'll notice I said radical, not reckless. This is important because you might be tempted to overreact out of impatience or emotional stress. Let your situation motivate you into action and make you more open-minded about solutions and what you're aiming for. Keep being gentle and nurturing with yourself, even as you're trying to spur yourself into action.

CANCER

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

The trick for you, Cancer, is to find a balance between being too hard on yourself and being perhaps a little too idealistic. One area where this could play out for you is in the area of finances, possessions and material security. The ups and downs of these areas can have a direct impact on one's sense of self and self-acceptance. This is a time to explore and heal the connection between these areas of life.

You have enormous creative, intuitive and magnetic energy available right now, and you have the potential to attract what you need into your life. The "but" is that although you may feel confident on one hand, you might also feel a bit plagued by self-doubt, cynicism or perfectionism, any of which could sabotage your efforts.

With Mercury still retrograde until July 28 (and shaking sleep out of his brain for another week or so after that), there is more intuition, feeling and emotional awareness to explore that can help you gain a more solid feeling of self-worth. And maybe some creative ways to increase your abundance too!

CANCER

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, transformation, death/rebirth, the occult, secrets and resources from other people.)

So, Cancer... What dreams do you have about the world economy? Or (a little closer to home) do you have a vision of how a healthy economy could benefit you, your friends and associates, and your family? You might find yourself drawn to community projects that literally form a financial Collective. For example, a co-op, or a group of people who share costs or services for something you all want. Or, you might have a dream of finding empowerment by going your own way and detaching from the controlling politics of the Collective.

Whatever your vision, in order to move toward it you will need to get your own house in order. That means figuring out a strategy that will provide a foundation on which your dream can grow. You'll need to take responsibility to make it happen. To do that, you may have to find some courage to break out of your usual routine. It is important to be gentle and nurturing with yourself at the same time as you're going out on a limb to make something new happen. The real challenge lies in maintaining your vision while also allowing it to be bent and shaped by the realism of making it happen.

LEO

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your New Moon, Leo, because it takes place in your sign.

The trick for you, Leo, is to find that balance point in your relationships and interactions where you can be yourself without losing the magic and also without losing the realism. It might be necessary to learn to draw better personal boundaries—or to accept them in others.

You likely have a strong sense of self to draw on now, which can help you stay centered and resilient. But don't let this become an excuse to become a perfectionist or be controlling about how you think those boundaries "should" be. It may help to remember that it's wonderful to establish personal standards and adhere to your own integrity; it's something else to lay down rules and put up walls that alienate people.

If you are in an intimate relationship, old issues may come up (again) that require you to find a more stable balance point throughout this lunar cycle. You could be facing a situation where your hopes, wishes and dreams about what you want those relationships to be will need to be re-examined and adjusted. More intuition, insight and awareness has yet to unfold, especially until Mercury goes direct on July 28 (and probably for another week or so after that). Keep your mind open and your courage available to support your patience.

LEO

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of "Significant Others," relationships, partnerships, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, and balance.)

So, Leo... What dreams do you have about connecting with a level of universal or unconditional love? Do you hope to find a new way to connect with another person by reaching for a higher level of that connection? Or, do you harbour a vision about connecting to a place of spiritual Oneness through intimacy and closeness with another person? This is a time when you are challenged to begin finding ways to do something like this, while still keeping your feet on the ground.

On one level, your lofty vision is about surrendering to something greater than yourself. But be careful about idealizing any individual so much that your connection to them wouldn't survive them falling off that pedestal. It could take a great deal of discipline to maintain a healthy balance between seeing the very best in the object of your affection and staying grounded in yourself. Avoid falling into traps like "you're wonderful, I'm bad" or "you're my dream come true, I'm unworthy of you." If these kinds of thoughts or feelings come up, it's possible they are echoes from the past that you will need to work on letting go.

VIRGO

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, solitude, privacy, alone time, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

The trick for you, Virgo, is to make progress in the "work," which requires that you get out of your own way. That means being willing to take small steps and make only minor adjustments for a while (at least until Mercury goes direct on July 28, and probably for another week or so after that).

You will likely find that great strides of change are not wise right now. By working behind the scenes and developing inner confidence first, you can start to make a transition that has a greater scope than you might realise. This leads into a long-term process where you will be able to shift your focus from healing and dedication in small ways into manifesting a broader vision and higher ideals.

For the time being, this may play out involving your circle of friends, support people, extended family or groups where you feel you really belong (or wish you did). Someone might lead you to question whether acceptance of a difficult situation is your best choice, or whether you should take a more proactive stance. The feelings this raises will be real, but the objective reality may not be what you think. Best to wait for all the information to filter in before you make any final decisions.

VIRGO

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service, paid or volunteer, health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

So, Virgo... What dreams do you have about healing the planet? Perhaps you have a vision of uniting the world through mutual service? Or maybe you see selfless love as the primary healing energy that can help those in need? Whatever your vision, it's time to take the next step toward embracing your ideals in your work, your health and your daily life.

To do that, it's a good idea to find a balance between yourself and others, between taking "alone-time" and being with others. It may also be necessary to walk a fine line between inspiring others versus pressuring them to see things your way—or feeling defensive about others' attempts to persuade you to their point of view. Be careful that your enthusiasm and impatience don't get the better of you and wind up alienating the people you're trying to connect with. It may help to take some "time out" to check in with yourself and get grounded, as well as to err on the side of diplomacy.

LIBRA

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 11th House of friends, peers, colleagues, associates, co-workers, groups, organisations, community at large, and vision and hopes for the future.)

The trick for you, Libra, is to allow those psychic and creative wounds to inspire you to manifest something in the world that allows you to rise above them. This may be harder than it sounds. You might doubt your own creative ability (and by "creative" I mean using innovative, original or expressive ways to create beauty, harmony, balance or just make choices). Or, you might find that it's complex (not straightforward) to bring your personal creativity to your professional work or a structured project or an authority role.

You likely have a lot of talent, resources, funding, and/or other kinds of backing, to boost your confidence now. However, you may still struggle with a fear that all this won't be enough, or that you must work too far behind the scenes for it to benefit what you are trying to achieve on the outside.

Best to wait until all the options and information are on the table before making a final decision (including/especially about your own abilities). This is especially true while Mercury remains retrograde until July 28, and probably for another week or so after that.

LIBRA

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 5th House of identity, individuality, selfhood, children, fun, love affairs, creative self-expression and joi de vivre.)

So, Libra... What dreams do you have about creativity being a healing balm for the world? Perhaps you want to do something special for children or those in need, to help them feel supported by something greater than themselves? Or, maybe you would like to use your own creative expression as an inspiration to uplift a weary world? Whatever your vision, it's time to embrace it and start to take the next step in making it happen.

To do that, you may need to wrestle with conflicting ideas that could make it seem like you "can't get there from here." Regardless whether that may be true or not, the trying is important because it will anchor you more realistically to others (friends, community, etc.) as well as to your own creative impulse and self-expression. You have broader vistas to explore over the next few years in the balance between your personal identity and your connection to the world. Your current efforts can help to create a structure in which to do that.

SCORPIO

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 10th House of career, goals, ambitions, authority, public recognition, Mother (or Father), social reputation and roles in society.)

The trick for you, Scorpio, is bring your unique talents, creativity and abilities out into the world, while still dealing with the limitations and struggles from the past that were blocking you from doing that before now. You're changing how you work with the past. Recently, you have been finding healing ways to accept, live with and work around the impact of the past on the present (kind of a "do it anyway" mentality). Now you're starting to look at your subtle illusions, fantasies and idealistic vision that have their roots in the past, which all need to be reality-tested and distilled into a more concrete form that you can apply to whatever you build in your life.

So you start with...just what ARE you building in your life? What unique talents, abilities, skills, love, joy, passion, confidence and enthusiasm do you bring to what you do? This could be your career, or your role as an authority figure, or any project or goal that you work at over time.

It may be tempting to think that you must do everything and do it all perfectly in order to succeed. Or you might want to seek out the critical feedback or active support of others. This could be helpful, but don't lose sight of the fact that it's YOUR talents and vision that you are manifesting, not theirs. Your vision will likely remain in flux until after Mercury goes direct on July 28 (and probably for another week or so after that), so ride with the changing tide as it swirls.

SCORPIO

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 4th House of family, Father (or Mother), childhood, home base, need for nurturing, security and belonging, and the past.)

So, Scorpio... What dreams do you have about nurturing a "family of Humanity?" Perhaps you see the need for healing through surrendering to the ideal of a Universal or Cosmic Parent? Or maybe you feel inspired to let go of the past by embracing a positive vision of the future? Whatever your dream, it's time to start building a structure that will allow you to actively integrate those ideals into your life.

It may be tempting to want to leap into action by reacting (or over-reacting?) to feedback from others. Or you might want to completely break free of (or rebelling against?) established forms of self-expression and your self-image. This impulse can be stabilized and balanced by applying your deep inner wisdom that gives you a broad perspective on your situation. It may also help to reach toward a sense of spiritual connection and greater meaning in terms of why you want to do whatever it is that you want to do. Aim for a vision that has depth and breadth, as well as a balance between the past and the future.

SAGITTARIUS

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 9th House of spirituality, beliefs, truth-seeking, justice, philosophy, knowledge, teaching/learning, publishing, long-distance travel, foreign lands and languages, and multiculturalism.)

The trick for you, Sagittarius, is to discover your sacredness, specialness and wisdom through what may seem like ordinary, jaded or even tainted experiences. The philosophical question of "whether good can come from evil" becomes a moot point in light of the greater question of HOW to create transformation, freedom, enlightenment and meaning out of limitation, distress and disappointment.

You are challenged to re-examine how you empower yourself and what the cost is (materially, spiritually or emotionally). Although you might be willing and able to pay that price, that doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the empowerment, strength, protection and peace of mind that you bargained for. It may be time to make some adjustments.

If you feel like you're going through a "crisis of faith" right now, it will help to treat this as a turning point in a greater process. All is not lost, but you might have to let go of something that gets in the way of getting a greater return on your investment. Try to resist forming final conclusions until all the facts are in (after Mercury goes direct on July 28, and for another week or so after that).

SAGITTARIUS

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 3rd House of intellect, communication, ideas, perceptions, learning, neighbours, commerce, short-distance travel, and information exchange.)

So, Sagittarius... What dreams do you have about healing the world through education and information exchange? Perhaps you would like to bring knowledge to the world that will inspire others to look deeper into their souls? Or maybe want to connect with the Universal Mind through which you can access intuitive wisdom and understanding? Whatever your vision, it is time to take the next step in making it happen.

To do this, your instinct may be to sever your ties to the past in some way, or to break free of your dependency on others for support. Although this is probably a good move, there is a risk of overdoing it and "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" as the saying goes. To keep your impulses in balance, it will help to keep checking in with your inner wisdom, spiritual connection and deep psychological honesty. Trust your instincts, but don't automatically assume that your impulses are the same as your instincts. Dig a bit deeper.

CAPRICORN

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 8th House of power, empowerment, control, intensity, deep psychology, death, rebirth, transformation and sexuality.)

The trick for you, Capricorn, is to gather all the empowerment, vision and passion you've been cultivating for some time, and get ready to turn a corner on manifesting your creative efforts. For a while now, you've had to "make do" with what you have. Outside circumstances may have forced you to walk a path that was more about others' expectations than your own goals. As a result, you have developed skills, understanding, empowerment and strength of self. You are about to "graduate"—to manifest these qualities in ways that will challenge you on new levels.

You may have to look at what you assume is available to you (be that money, possessions, friends, support, resources, skills, connections or faith) but might not be in the way you think. Or, you might believe you lack these, but actually have them in a form you don't recognise. Either way, you're heading into a long-term process of doing a reality check to flush out your illusions, dreams, hopes, wishes and any other ways that you might not be seeing things clearly.

You might be very aware of this lack of clarity now, which will likely continue until after Mercury goes direct on July 28 (and probably for a week or so after that). Use this time to identify any distortions in your assumptions, beliefs and conclusions. This may present itself in the form of communication, feedback, argument or disagreement from friends, associates or loved ones.

CAPRICORN

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 2nd House of finances, income, expenses, possessions, resources, self-worth, and material security and values.)

So, Capricorn... What dreams do you have about healing the world through faith in the abundance and blessings of the Universe? Perhaps you want to reach a state of financial independence that isn't dependent on your enslavement (or you want to help others do this)? Or maybe you long to attract the support, resources and abundance you need by floating on a river of prosperity (by working smarter instead of harder). Whatever your vision, it's time to start putting a system together that can make that happen.

It might be a challenge to stay focused on a SYSTEM that draws on the big picture, rather than micro-managing every last detail and possibly burning yourself out. You may have to let go of established or limiting ways of thinking, and it might be tempting to (over)react by going to extremes at first. Stay focused on your original vision, on empowering yourself with knowledge, and possibly listen to the advice of friends or associates, to help stabilize and balance the extremes.

AQUARIUS

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 7th House of love, balance, harmony, close relationships, marriage, partnership, inter-connectedness with others, style of interaction, lovers and adversaries.)

The trick for you, Aquarius, is to find that delicate balance not just between yourself and the Universe, but also between yourself and other people. For a while now, you have been challenged to develop better boundaries with people, especially those close to you. You've worked hard to achieve a more realistic alignment of your needs, priorities and goals with others.

This is about to shift. It is time for you to take all the learning, skill, strength, understanding and "homework" you've been doing, and put this into action in ways that will challenge you on new levels. As you do this, your focus will shift from striving to find acceptance of existential limitations to facing your subtle hopes, wishes, ideals, dreams, illusions, fantasies and ways that you might not be seeing things clearly.

You are moving into a long-term journey when your creative vision and beliefs will be put to the test. You will likely have the opportunities and resources you need to start putting these changes into place. But be careful you don't become so obsessed about being right or perfect that you sabotage your efforts. There is still a bit more planning, schmoozing and details left to gather while Mercury is retrograde until July 28 (and for another week or so after that), so pace yourself.

AQUARIUS

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 1st House of self, outer personality, appearance, vitality and self-assertion.)

This is your Full Moon, Aquarius, since it takes place in your sign!

So, Aquarius... What dreams do you have about healing the world through creative imagination and a connection to something greater than oneself? Perhaps you long to nurture others through your sense of spirituality? Or maybe you believe that transcendent release from current difficult circumstances is the best route to rise above the petty struggles? Whatever your vision, it is time to grapple with whatever it will take to make it happen.

Your interaction with others is likely to a central part of this long-term process. But it is paramount that you bring your own identity, creativity, spirituality and aspirations into the picture. Your mission over the next year or so is to find a workable balance between your interests and those of others, which can speak to the future and manifest your dreams. For now, be careful not to indulge in over-reaction about finances/resources or power struggles. You will likely find freedom/independence in your vision of where you're going and the wisdom you want to manifest, so check in with it frequently.

PISCES

NEW MOON in LEO

July 25 to August 23, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 6th House of work and service—paid or volunteer—health and healing, analysis and organisation, and your contribution to the world.)

The trick for you, Pisces, is to find ways to experience and express this in your everyday life, but without turning your life into a shrine of perfectionism. For a while now, you have struggled to find ways to bring your ideals, beliefs, vision and spiritual quest into your life in more immediate ways. This might be focused on something as basic as finding a job that doesn't drive you crazy, or something as exalted as a vision of living your spiritual ideals mindfully in everything you do.

This about to shift. For a while now, you've been tripping and stepping over obstacles that have made this goal difficult to achieve. This lunar cycle begins a long-term process when your inspiration, vision, creativity and ideals will be put into place and put to the test. Other people may help to ground you by offering feedback or confronting you with disagreement or criticism (uncomfortable perhaps, but useful nonetheless—don't just dismiss it).

Manifesting is not the same as planning, dreaming and aspiring toward a goal. There are choices that must be made that can be emotionally draining. It will help to pace yourself and give yourself time to take care of all the details. This is especially true until after Mercury goes direct on July 28 (and for another week or so after that).

PISCES

FULL MOON in AQUARIUS

August 9, 2006

(Takes place in your solar 12th house of spirituality, compassion, isolation, inner focus, meditation, escapism, addiction, and universal love and beauty.)

So, Pisces... What dreams do you have about healing the world through a connection to something greater than oneself? Perhaps you want to inspire others to reach for their highest potential? Or maybe you want to reach for a higher spiritual connection by developing an increased inner presence? Whatever your vision, it is time to take steps to make this happen in small but specific ways. This might flourish through meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, chanting, prayer or ritual—in other words, at a crossroads between practical activities and a higher purpose.

You might have to walk a fine line between your own agenda or goal and that of others. Someone might come on strong to challenge you, inspire you or argue with you, and you might be tempted to react by either distancing yourself or engaging in some intense interaction. You can find some balance and stability by focusing on the big picture which encompasses all sides; everyone has their perspective that makes sense to them. Be open to other viewpoints, but don't let that pull you out of alignment with that "still small voice" within that can guide you if you take it slow.
