"What's a New Moon?"

Read more about the Sun-Moon cycles.

Read more about how you experience LIBRA energy in your life.

What goes around comes around. What goes up must come down. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The pendulum swings both ways.

Libra is all about the equalization of energy. It's the turning point of the zodiac – exactly half-way around the circle from Aries, where the zodiac begins.

Libra is characterized by the scales which establish, measure and indicate the degree of balance between two things. When one side goes up, the other goes down. Find out where the balance point is and you can bring both sides into a balanced harmony.

BUT—in order to get to that balance point, it typically takes a lot of back-and-forth adjustment. (Think of the Toth tarot card, Adjustment—called Justice in most other tarot decks, also a Libra word.)

It's sometimes necessary to go to extremes to test the limits of what is possible and to get to know the full spectrum of what you're dealing with. After all, how do you know what the balance of one thing is unless you reach over and connect with its opposite? How do you know when the amount of adjustment is too much unless you know what it's like to get a clear experience of both sides?

Although extremes might seem more Scorpio than Libra, Libra is not above going to extremes in order to find a balance point with something that is itself extreme. Remember that Libra is known as both the Peace-maker and the War-maker.

And even when you've found the balance point, it will usually move around. Events happen which influence that delicate equilibrium, and then you have to find that symmetry all over again. So Libran balance involves a lot more than simply finding a calm balance point and hanging out there. This New Moon cycle brings us into a process of making the necessary adjustments in order to find and keep up with that balance point.

At the last Full Moon in Aries, you were challenged to find the tipping point at which balance is manoeuvred. Now, at the New Moon in Libra, you are challenged to tinker with that balance in order to discover what it's made of, which will give you more in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to maintain it.

Venus, the planetary ruler of Libra, is stationary and becomes retrograde just 12 hours after the New Moon is exact! The retrograde cycle itself consists of that back-and-forth swing from one side to the other and back again. We move through an experience once, then go back and experience it from the other side, and then go forward through it again, this time with a greater appreciation for what the experience is truly about. By the end of the retrograde cycle, we've seen the situation from "both sides now" and can respond to the situation with greater clarity, understanding and knowledge.

Venus is currently conjunct Mars in Scorpio. These two planets are engaged in a drama worthy of any TV soap opera! You can read all about this and more in my new article on Venus Retrograde 2010.

So what does this mean for the New Moon in Libra? A lot! Libra is the sign where the zodiac's archetypal energy, having swung to outer edge, turns a corner and begins the process of rebalancing by moving back and forth between the outer edges. Venus, Libra's ruler, is doing the same thing—she has moved far past the Sun and is now turning to go in the other direction.

This parallel reflects the energy of the Libra New Moon. What do you need to reconsider, re-evaluate or regurgitate in your life in order to understand both sides of the situation? Where have you become extreme in your reactions, feelings or desires, requiring moderation, balancing or grounding?

The house where the New Moon occurs (14 Libra) is likely to be a major area in your life where this process unfolds. The house(s) where Venus will be retrograde in your natal chart (27 Libra to 13 Scorpio) will also show where this will probably be played out. The aspects Venus makes to your natal planets indicate other parts of your psyche and your life that may participate in this process.

The New Moon chart doesn't provide much help. There are more conjunctions per capita in this chart than I've seen in a long time: the Sun-Moon in Libra, of course, as well as Mercury-Saturn in Libra (this gives a serious mindset that can analyze and deliberate over the Libra-retrograde dynamics), Venus-Mars in Scorpio (passion, desire and deep emotional commitment to whatever you're focused on), Chiron-Neptune in Aquarius (healing and acceptance of longing to be part of something greater than yourself ), and Jupiter-Uranus in Pisces (inspiration for future change).

Beyond these conjunctions, the only major aspects are squares (90°) from Pluto to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Pisces, and from Pluto to the Mercury-Saturn conjunction in Libra. There are semi-sextiles (30°) which also indicate the need for adjustment and openness to subtle connections. And there are sesqui-quadrates (135°) and semi-squares (45°), both of which are square-like aspects. They can feel irritating and annoying, and tend to require adjustment, tinkering and fine-tuning problems to make solutions work better. So adjustment and back-and-forth fiddling are written all over this New Moon!

It might be a bit difficult to feel like you're getting a solid handle on a satisfying solution to problems or challenges in your life during this lunar cycle. Most of what can be done is to keep moving forward, one small step at a time. Make an adjustment, then watch to see what happens, then make another adjustment according to what emerges from the previous one.

The one thing that's probably best to avoid is extreme or radical actions—although these might produce dramatic results, they're also a lot harder to control and usually require a lot more subsequent adjustments. Aim for changes that are enough to know how much is too much, without swinging wildly between extremes. Remember, the purpose is to find the balance point, not to take yourself on a wild ride.

Do you feel overwhelmed by the choices in front of you? Maybe you're not even sure what those choices are? Are you feeling like the "ducks" you're trying to line up in a row just keep wandering off in all directions despite your best efforts? Oct.08 – Venus stationary Retrograde (13:13 of Scorpio) ("What does Retrograde mean?"   READ MY NEW ARTICLE FOR VENUS RETROGRADE 2010!  Read my general article on Venus Retrograde.   Read more about Retrograde planets.)

For up to a week or more before and after this date, you may experience intense energy in the areas of relationships, finances, beauty, self-worth and harmony. Similar to Mercury retrograde, Venus retrograde is a time when we go back over the same ground we just came through in order to refine, polish and adjust the affected areas in our lives.

Venus retrograde can be a time when latent problems in relationships (all kinds, not just romantic) become outright conflicts. Or, previous ongoing conflicts may take a rest and go underground for a while, as everyone regroups and reassesses what is important to them. If you have been keeping the peace at any price, this could be a time when that peace suddenly falls apart and you are faced with having to deal with old unresolved problems.

Finances also can shift direction. Income and resources might become somewhat scarce, forcing you to let go of or rethink your material focus. Or, you might find your material resources booming ...possibly along with your spending. Issues about personal appearance, fashion, beauty and charm may also become conspicuous by their absence or by their sudden importance. In general, it is a time to examine your value system and decide whether the people and things that you have cherished still hold the same high priority for you, as well as whether you are truly living according to your values.

Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, which can make Venus energy very intense! Venus' desire and ardent passion are likely to be very strong—possibly even obsessive. Be careful about letting jealousy or possessiveness get the better of you. On the other hand, this can be a time when you reconnect with your sensual and sexual energy in a whole new way, which unfolds and evolves throughout the Venus retrograde cycle. It is also possible to achieve a much deeper experience of intimacy with those close to you—not necessarily in a sexual way, but more like a soul-to-soul connection. Creativity can flow from a passionate, loving heart, so you might find you are drawn toward art forms that express deep feeling, angst and longing. This might be music, art, poetry, dance, etc.

Oct.08 – Mercury conjunct Saturn (08:39 of Libra)

It's time to take a serious look at the circumstances and situations in your life. This transit may not exactly be "party time" but it's a great transit to have when you need to take a dispassionate, objective, clear view of life. You may be called upon to make a decision about something. For example, you might need to commit yourself to a particular plan of action, or start developing plans toward a particular goal. In either case, it may be necessary to limit or let go of other options. You might come to the conclusion that something has run its course and it's time to leave it behind – like an opinion or project or mindset. It's a time when your perception, thoughts and words may not be exciting, imaginative or entertaining, but you're probably more able to be clear, grounded decisive and hard working.

Oct.16 – Sun conjunct Mercury (23:33 of Libra) (Oct.17 in UK, AU)

During this transit, your sense of self and purpose can become merged with what you think, perceive and say. On one hand, this can make for an easy flow of ideas and communication from inside your brain to the external world. It can also increase your perceptions and observations of the world, as you file it all away in your internal database. On the other hand, you may find yourself a bit tongue-tied, as it could be hard to separate your sense of self from your perceptions and ideas enough to find the words to adequately express them. In that case, just observe and go with the flow; the words will come later. It can also be a time when it's not easy to be objective, especially about yourself and how you bring yourself to the world around you. It's like your Being automatically expresses and sets into motion the things you think, perceive and want to say. This can help you to feel like your sense of self is shining effortlessly, but if your thoughts and perceptions are in conflict with other parts of you (e.g., emotions, needs, objectivity) then it might become a time when you act a little too quickly with blinders on. Strive for balance and self-honesty before you act.

Oct.18 – Mercury trine Neptune (26:01 of Libra/Aquarius)

Your mind is very open to imagination, dreams and compassion under this transit. This can be a very creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower, whatever!) Listening sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you are more likely to get a compassionate response from others about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Oct.18 – Mercury trine Chiron (26:14 of Libra/Aquarius) (Oct.19 in AU)

Your mental focus and communication now get an injection of healing energy. Cynicism and depression may soften now, as you become more receptive to a more optimistic viewpoint. If you have been caught up in escapism or "stinkin' thinkin'" (thinking you're more in control of your impulses than you really are), you may now find some relief and healing. Mental argument and critical "self-talk" can now find some reconciliation and acceptance that brings some peace of mind. You have increased ability to find the right words and understanding to help others with their problems. Compassion and empathy may be more accessible because you can identify your own experiences with what you see in others. You might also find someone who can give you good advice or support about your own problems – possibly a teacher or mentor – or you could become this to someone else.

Oct.19 – Sun trine Neptune (26:00 of Libra/Aquarius)

Faith in the bountiful blessings of the Universe is within reach under this transit...but then, so is the fantasy that you will be magically granted anything you wish for. Hope, optimism and imagination spring eternal right now, which can bring some relief from any depression or discouragement you might be feeling. Your creativity can become very inspired under this transit. Your sense of self could also get an infusion of uplifting vision. And you experience a sense of mission, feeling that you are truly a Child of the Universe. There is potential to lift you out of the ordinary and into the sublime – spiritually, creatively, romantically or compassionately. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you make changes based on what might feel like a permanent condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary influence and you will still have to live within the bounds of the physical world after it passes. Don't make overly optimistic promises now, that you will have to fulfil later when the euphoria wears off.

Oct.19 – Sun trine Chiron (26:13 of Libra/Aquarius) (Oct.20 in AU)

This is a time when you may find that your recent efforts to mend and heal the chronic struggles in your life start to come together. You likely have the confidence now to try new solutions, or at least to approach problems from a different angle that sheds new light on the situation. Some of this progress may come from daring to walk your own path, or from finding the courage to face the hidden shadow of your worries and weaknesses (the hidden benefit that those worries give you). There may be a variety of different struggles and wounds in your life that could benefit from this kind of healing, although it can be tempting to let this transit pass by without taking advantage of it. Strive to reach a midpoint between merely dipping your toe in troubled waters and thinking that is enough, versus jumping in the deep end and marinating in it.

Oct.20 – Mercury enters Scorpio (until Nov.08) (Oct.21 in AU)

Cunning communication and insight are at their peak, as Mercury skulks through Scorpio. It’s a time for unearthing secrets and delving deeply into the psychological Shadow (Carl Jung’s term for the unconscious parts of ourselves that we don't want to or know how to face). There is opportunity for healing and grounding now, but you may have to resist the temptation to manipulate others to control that process. Your awareness of the undercurrents around you could be increased...or you might stir up those undercurrents in others without intending to, by blurting things out in a blunt or harsh way. This transit presents an opportunity to learn new ways to wield words with the skill of a surgeon – to heal and remove what is toxic, not to wound or retaliate. Use it wisely. If you are not crystal clear with yourself about your motives and feelings when communicating with others, your unconscious or hidden agendas could seep through and cause hurt when that was not your intention.

Oct.20 – Mars trine Jupiter (24:51 of Scorpio/Pisces) (Oct.21 in UK, AU)

Energy, assertiveness, aggression and sexuality are amplified during this time. Physical, mental and emotional energy can run high. Your motivation can take on an air of confidence and purpose. If you normally shrink back from asserting yourself, this can be a time when it's a bit easier to find the courage to take a stand. It can also make you more sensitive to this amplified energy in others around you. If you are distressed by Mars energy in general (afraid of anger, intimidated by aggression, cautious about sexuality, etc.), this transit might bring a bit more of it than you can comfortably handle. However, it can also give you an opportunity to experience and make friends with this energy. If you typically enjoy high energy, this can be a time when you can make progress with plans and projects, and have flirtatious or impish fun along the way.

Oct.22 – Mars square Neptune (25:58 of Scorpio/Aquarius) (Oct.23 in AU)

For up to a week before and after today, you have a chance to discover and work with your blind spots and the hidden motives that trip you up. It may feel like you are spinning your wheels or "shadow-boxing" and not even sure why. You may be fighting a hidden agenda or unconscious motives (yours or someone else's). You might also be trying to apply a concrete solution to an ambiguous situation, and then wondering why it isn't working very well. Responding to conflicts in a passive-aggressive or manipulative way can be tempting under this transit, since you may not know how to take direct and effective action. Resentment might become a defiant way to express toothless anger. Part of the problem may be that you are fighting against your own idealism, and resisting the acceptance that the other person or situation can't be the way you want them to be. Feelings of disappointment or helplessness may trigger much deeper feelings from your unconscious, making it difficult for you to know how to respond effectively in the here-and-now. It will probably help to work on owning your feelings, needs, longings and (hidden) agendas. Being honest with yourself about what's really going on inside you will go a long way toward increasing your empowerment.

Oct.22 – Mercury sextile Pluto (03:10 of Scorpio/Capricorn) (Oct.23 in AU)

Penetrating insights and passionate communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when your mental concentration can come together so easily that you become obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to explore the depths in your interaction or communication with others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you gather the deeper qualities.

Oct.22 – Mars square Chiron (26:10 of Scorpio/Aquarius) (Oct.23 in AU)

It may be time to confront issues in your life that involve how/why you get hurt by others, how you yourself hurt others, and how healing can take place in either of these situations. Your awareness of this may due to a conflict in your life, but this can be a valuable learning experience for you, more-so than usual. Part of the problem may be that you need to tread your own path but are avoiding this for whatever reasons – perhaps circumstances compel you to satisfy others' expectations, or perhaps you are still struggling to muster the courage to find and walk your own path. Whatever the reasons, this transit may give you a push that will help to steer you in a healing direction, possibly by showing you how and why the path you have been on does not lead to where you want to go. If you start to feel overwhelmed, take some time out from the stress to get re-centered and grounded.

Sabian Symbol for Aries 30: A duck pond and its brood.

Sabian Symbol for the
Full Moon in Aries

Aries 30

A duck pond and its brood.

There are a couple of ways to look at this Sabian Symbol. ("What's a Sabian Symbol?")

Dane Rudhyar (An Astrological Mandala) sees the ducks as symbolizing our spirits and imagination that long to soar through the "galactic field." However, these parts of us must ultimately be brought down to a focused, limited, concrete "karmic field"—the pond, where "the substance of concrete action has to be found."

In other words, this symbol shows a contraction of unlimited possibilities which must take place in order to manifest that potential. This reflects the transition from Aries, a Fire sign, to Taurus, an Earth sign.

A duck pond is a safe, calm environment where adult ducks can raise their young. Eventually those ducklings grow up and are ready to leave the pond and explore the outer world.

So this symbol might also be seen as a duck family becoming ready to make its transition to venture beyond the limited boundaries of their pond. This symbol is the final degree of Aries before it moves beyond the sign's boundaries into Taurus, a new unexplored territory.

Either way, it reflects a division between the "here-and-now" and the "there-and-then." The question is: are you coming or going?

Are you coming in for a landing after exploring the universe of potential, ready to manifest and develop one of the possibilities you found out there? Or are you reaching the limits of what is possible in what you've been involved in and are now ready to move into the next stage of growth?

Feeling a little déjà vu-ish? Thirty days ago, we had a Full Moon at the first degree of Aries. Today we have another Full Moon in Aries, this time at the final degree of Aries. That's two in a row. How unlike Aries to repeat itself!

The last degree of any sign is a very noteworthy degree. It's like teetering on the edge of a precipice, no longer where you were but not yet where you will be. You're in mid-step forward. It's a place of anticipation, transition—and a bit of anxiety!

It's like the night before the big move. All your things are packed away in boxes and you're filled with excitement (or dread). You're exhausted, yet you can't really sleep either. Your mind is buzzing with a million thoughts of what it will be like in the new place, trying to think of anything you've forgotten, reminiscing over the time you've spent in the home you're leaving and wondering what events and experiences the new place has in store for you.

Since this is the second Full Moon in Aries in a row, I suppose we could compare it to going for a job interview at the first one, while the second Full Moon is like leaving your old job before you actually start the new one. You know the new job is going to begin, but for now you're saying good-bye to your co-workers and cleaning out your desk. You just don't know yet what the new job will be like or if you'll even like it there.

The fact that we're still in impulsive, impetuous Aries doesn't help! Taurus patience is taking its own sweet time to arrive, and all Aries wants to do is jump into the fray.

Mars, the ruler of Aries, is strongly placed right now in its other sign of Scorpio. Scorpio's style of waving good-bye is to slam the door while erasing their emotional hard drive, just as the other person is opening their mouth to say "I'm really going to miss y—". Not much help there.

In addition, Mars is tightly square (90°) Chiron and Neptune, which could easily increase anxiety about having to let go and go with the flow. Mars in Scorpio needs to be in control of what is happening, and a square to Neptune is likely to feel a bit like being in freefall. Saying good-bye to the familiar might be a bit disorienting, with Mars feeling suddenly naked without its usual attachments and obsessions.

Mars is also in close trine aspect (120°) to Jupiter and Uranus, who are likely to be sympathetic to Mars' compulsion to make a clean break of things, if it can just unwrap its fingers from whatever it's reluctantly letting go of.

On the plus side, this mixed-up combination of energies could also be an excellent time to confront the need to let go of something that has run its course, which you might have been procrastinating about. Mars square Neptune means Mars has little that's concrete to push against, and any action it takes must be a leap of faith to some extent.

The impulsive, spontaneous nature of the Aries Moon, as well as the trine to Jupiter-Uranus from Mars, can be extremely helpful when your Mars energy is ready to make the leap. The fact that the Moon is a singleton in Fire signs adds extra emphasis to this. To access your enthusiasm, drive, courage and playfulness, you will need to engage your Moon—the most personal, emotional, intuitive and vulnerable part of you. On the other hand, any leap you take will need to be aimed and focused with care if you are to have any control over where you wind up.

On the other side of the Sun-Moon opposition (i.e. the Full Moon) is the Sun in the final degree of Libra. This could evoke indecisiveness in its most frustrating form! To step or not to step forward—um, let me weigh the options... The fact that Libra's ruler, Venus, is currently retrograde and in Detriment in Scorpio could easily become more reason to wait before making any kind of move.

However, this could also be a time when there are two ways you might find the most effective type of balance. One is through sustained motion, in the same way that walking is achieved through a controlled, perpetual state of imbalance (think about it). The other type of balance is by using a hindsight glance at what you are leaving and resolving to gather as much understanding, learning and appreciation of where you have come from, so that this can eventually be integrated into where you are going.

Venus is applying to a conjunction (0°) to Mercury, which will reach exact in Scorpio on Oct.25. This indicates a potentially powerful time for introspection, self-reflection, peering into the deeper levels of perception, intuition and divination (e.g. astrology, tarot, etc.).

Wedge aspect pattern

Pluto is a singleton in Earth signs. This means that in order to be grounded, you will need to reach very deeply down into your soul. Pluto also forms a Wedge aspect figure, being trine (120°) to the Moon and sextile (60°) the Sun.

It's kind of like putting a golf ball into a tiny hole in the ground. Once the ball is centered in the right place, with just the right combination of aim and patient momentum, you're home free and you can go on to whatever lies beyond it. In other words, allow yourself to be grounded and centered in your deepest passion, self-honesty, willingness to transform and openness to a secret, hidden level of truth and realism. This will help you aim that Aries impulse in the direction that will bring you to the other side of that chasm, from where you have been to where you need to go next.

Finding that deeply grounded center could be tricky, though, with all that Aries energy wanting to ricochet off in all directions. In addition, Mars square Chiron-Neptune is there to remind you that life can often get in the way of where you're trying to aim, or a stray breeze can come along and blow you off course. This is where Aries ability to act on the spur of the moment can come in handy, in order to make the necessary adjustments as you go along.

Stay alert, stay present, and don't become too attached to an idealized vision of how you're going to get from point-A to point-B. This needs to be a playful dance that might take two steps forward and one step sideways while it moves toward your destination—wherever that might be.

Oct.23 – Sun enters Scorpio (until Nov.22)

Happy Solar Return to all Scorpios! While the Sun is in Scorpio, we all get to explore our passions and probe the secrets within our depths. There is an intensity to the Scorpio experience that goes right to the core, and Scorpio challenges you to take a closer look at how that intensity manifests in your psyche. What are you passionate about and what fires up that passion? What events and experiences have brought you to "rock bottom" and then turned the tide to rejuvenate you back to a new lease on life? What people, causes, beliefs or physical things are so important to you that you would even risk death for? What secrets do you harbour inside, even from yourself?

Open your mind and relax your brain...

Compliments of EJCrivello.com

Are you finding it a challenge to stay centered, grounded and well rested under all these stressful transits lately?

Train your brain with Binaural Beats – music for relaxation, better sleep, inner peace, rejuvenation, energy & focus, meditation, astral projection and more.

Posing these hypothetical questions doesn't mean you'll bring it on! But doing so can help you tap into the Scorpio experience to understand better how you experience transformation and touch the deepest heart of life itself. The danger is in becoming so obsessed with your passion that you neglect the practical realities. Or, you could become stuck in the "dark side" of transformation and letting go of the old, that you forget that figurative death and transformation are meant to lead into rebirth in order to complete the cycle. During this time, celebrate the endings in your life. Honour the hard times when you have had to face painful losses. And take passionate pleasure in the things that pull you out of your routines and make you feel alive. In some way, they have all allowed you to survive, thrive and grow.

Oct.24 – Mars trine Uranus (27:23 of Scorpio/Pisces)  Oct.25 in AU

This is a very high energy time, although not necessarily predictable or reliable. Your energy may come in spurts or in response to situations that don't normally affect you very much. You may find an upsurge of daring and confidence that seem to come out of nowhere. Or your sexual desire might suddenly come alive. This transit can inspire motivation that is spontaneous, sudden or unexpected. It might make your physical or emotional energy fluctuate or feel a bit "wired." However, it can also give a burst of courage and drive that can propel you out of a rut or inspire you to break free of limitations. Freedom, liberation and asserting your individuality are key areas that can ignite this energy. You might also find yourself involved in group activities, possibly in a leadership role or in a way that your ideas have a greater effect than usual on others.

Oct.25 – Mercury conjunct Venus Retrograde (07:36 of Scorpio)  Oct.26 in AU

Social connections, diplomatic communication and receptive awareness mark this transit. It can be a great time to negotiate contracts or agreements because the communication can usually flow easily. Focus your awareness on achieving a mutual balance between you and the other person. A win-win solution is especially easy to achieve now – so much so, in fact, that it might be tempting to only say what you think the other person wants to hear (which may or may not be wise). This can also be a time of appreciating and expressing beauty, pleasure and sensuality. If there's someone you want to get closer to (in terms of romance, friendship, business, partnership, or even an adversary!), talking gently and listening receptively can be the key that unlocks the door. You may also get new creative ideas from your interactions with people or from observing them.

Oct.26 – Sun sextile Pluto (03:15 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  Oct.27 in AU

Your sense of purpose is potentially strong now, being able to tap into a deeper level of energy and determination. Your personality may be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to make a strong impression but perhaps not so much in situations requiring delicacy or subtlety. You have greater ability to see below the surface of things now, although it may not be as easy to put it all together and understand what it all means. It can be possible to unearth secrets or get at the core of unconscious patterns (yours and others'). However, you'll have to work to harvest the fruit of these potentials, and some of the insights and benefits may not become apparent until later.

Oct.28 – Mars enters Sagittarius (until Dec.07)

This energy flies! You might feel inspired to defend a righteous cause, or to lead others in taking a stand about something. Or you might strive to move heaven and earth to reach toward a dream. You might be motivated to learn something new, or to share your knowledge with others. Inspiration, confidence and optimism can run high during this transit, which may be experienced as a release of optimism, freedom and spontaneous elation. However, it could also be a bit too much of a good thing, launching you or others into arrogance, confrontation or intolerance, especially if challenged by strong opinions. Expanded courage could make it easier to take risks or try new adventures, which will probably work best if you're balanced with realism or common sense. This is a time to act from your highest intention of morality, philosophy, spirituality, compassion and understanding.

Oct.28 – Sun conjunct Venus Retrograde (05:30 of Scorpio)  Oct.29 in UK, AU  (Read my NEW article on Venus Retrograde 2010.)

When the Sun conjuncts Venus retrograde, it initiates a new beginning in all things related to Venus. That includes self-image, beauty, love, relationships, interaction, finances, resources, pleasure and sensuality. However, this new beginning is small and largely hidden, like a seed beneath the earth that is about to sprout. You are the co-gardener of your soul now, in partnership with the Universe. Therefore, be gentle, consistent and supportive of yourself, as you would a sprouting seed. You may not be clear on what the new beginning is until well after Venus goes direct, so be patient. Now is a good time to gather intuitive thoughts and impressions of what kind of changes you would like in Venus areas. Would you like to improve your self-image so that you are more loving and accepting of yourself? Perhaps you would like to stabilise your material security and help it grow gradually? Or maybe you want to bring more pleasure and harmony to your relationships and interactions with others? Start by connecting to the loving and blessed person inside yourself first.

Oct.31 – UK returns to Standard Time.

If you're in the same time zone as the UK and your region has been observing Daylight Savings Time, it's now time to return to Standard Time. That means you turn your clocks back one hour on the night of Oct.30, so that when you wake up you'll be looking at the correct time. If you're not sure, you can check if your region is returning to Standard Time today.

Nov.01 – Venus Retrograde sextile Pluto (03:23 of Scorpio/Capricorn)

Close one-on-one relationships with people (close friends, lovers, partners of all kinds) could possibly benefit by being taken to a deeper level now, through creatively combining balanced harmony with deep connection. Just be careful that intimacy and bonding don't go over the top into obsession or domination. There is a brief opportunity now to become more authentic in how you relate to those close to you and how you establish a balance of power with them. The trick is to do this without trying to suppress, control or overpower the other person's interests. Financially, it is a time when you may have an opportunity to profit in your dealings with banks, insurance companies, taxes, and other institutions that deal with collective money.

Nov.04 – Mercury trine Jupiter (23:49 of Scorpio/Pisces)  Nov.05 in AU

This transit can make you quite talkative and flooded with ideas, along with those around you. Your stream of consciousness can flow abundantly with optimism and visionary possibilities. Write down your best ideas for later development, since you may be having too much fun now playing with ideas to want to stop and make them manifest just yet. Your outlook is usually optimistic and open-minded under this transit, although it might simply neutralize an already pessimistic frame of mind. You are likely to be more open to spiritual or philosophical perspectives, being more able to see yourself as part of something greater than yourself. You might even find that luck comes your way because you are more receptive to opportunities and possibilities.

Nov.05 – Chiron stationary Direct (26:04 of Aquarius)  ("What's a Station?"  Read more about Retrogrades.)

For up to a week before and after this date, you may feel a bit like you're caught between worlds—the spiritual versus the physical, the mental versus the emotional, or the outer objective world versus your inner subjective experience. Chiron has been retrograde for the last 4½ months, giving us time to assess the places in our lives that need healing and to discover the ways that we might be wounding ourselves or others. This includes physical health issues, emotional vulnerability and mental perspectives that create more problems than they solve. As Chiron turns direct, everything we have learned over the last five months becomes ready to be applied over the coming three months (while Chiron is still in the Shadow). Right now, you might find you reach a decision or turning point about issues you have wrestled with since May concerning goals, career, expectations or authority. If these issues have been stressful, this might come out now in the form of health problems, so it's a good idea to be gentle yet disciplined with yourself in this area. It could be a time of ambiguity, feeling like you're caught in a whirlpool that mixes up possibilities with limitations. Or, you might experience some clarity, as the paradoxical coexistence of realities and potentials on the path before you come into clearer focus. Either way, it is a time that can be magical because of its ability to bridge the gap between what is and what might be.
