Dearest Readers,

Unfortunately, due to an urgent family matter, I am unable to provide an article for the Solar Eclipse. With a bit of Jupiterian luck, I hope to be back on track for the Full Moon in Taurus (Nov.06). ;-)

In the meantime, please enjoy the day-to-day planetary transits for Oct.23 to Nov.06.

Thanks very much for understanding. :-)

Warmest regards and happy transits!

Oct.25 – Sun conjunct Venus (01:48 of Scorpio)  (Oct.24 in HAST, AKT)

Your ability to radiate an aura of love, pleasure and beauty is very strong right now. You have the ability to soothe the rough edges – both your own and others' – and to spread joy and love around you. You are more able to come across in a diplomatic, gentle and easy-going way. This can also enable you to glide through tricky interactions with others with strategic finesse, as well as to negotiate through difficult conflicts with ease (at least, relatively speaking). Your ability to attract your heart's desire to you is especially strong right now...so be careful what you ask for! This is a good time to take a look at your choices, to see how much you are living according to your values and how much your values bring joy and satisfaction into your life. Relationships may also be on your mind, either looking for someone new in your life or rekindling an existing one. This could apply to committed intimate relationships, business partnerships or close friendships. Your focus could be pointed at acquiring material abundance, gathering resources or cultivating self-worth. You are as beautiful and as prosperous as you feel!

This Sun-Venus conjunction is part of the Scorpio Venus retrograde cycle. The last time Venus was retrograde in Scorpio was 2010, as part of the 8-year cycle. The time before that it was 2002, and the next time will be 2018. When the Sun and Venus conjoin, it resonates with other times when Venus was retrograde in that sign, the last time of which was 4 years before the conjunction. You may therefore find that events, insights, desires and interactions around today—and for up to a month before and after—form a theme or pattern with what was happening in your life in 2010, or even in 2002, 1994, 1986, 1978, 1970, 1962, 1954, 1946, and so on. These themes and patterns are most likely to be connected to changes and developments in relationships, finances, values, beauty and pleasure. However, they may also reflect experiences to do with the house or sign of your natal Venus, the house(s) that Venus rules in your chart, and/or any planets in your 2nd or 7th houses.

As the Sun and Venus approach and separate from their conjunction, they both form a sextile aspect (60°) to Mars and a trine (120°) to Neptune.

Oct.25 – Mercury Stationary Direct (16:45 of Libra; in the shadow until Nov.10; direct until Jan.21.2015)  (Oct.26 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Mercury Retrograde.  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Mercury finally turns direct! Yippeeee!!!! ;-) But we're not out of the woods just yet. For up to a week before and after today, you may experience mental intensity, confusion, and miscommunications or simply changes in your outlook. After being Retrograde for the last 3 to 3½ weeks, Mercury is now taking a slow turn to resume Direct motion. This period has challenged you to rethink and rehash things that required some fine-tuning or revision. The Direct station can be a time when clearer decisions start to emerge from the issues and struggles you've encountered during the retrograde period. Or, it might turn your perspective around so that you're seeing your situation fresh again.

Over the next couple of weeks, while Mercury is still in the Shadow, your brain may feel a bit like it's gradually waking up after a deep sleep. During this time, you can gradually put into practice the learning and knowledge you've gained from your retrograde "dreams" and moonlight visions. It will take time to get fully back into sync with the Mercury direct energy. So, take it slow, one step at a time, and untangle yourself one strand at a time.

Here are the key dates of this Mercury cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Oct.26 – UK resumes Standard Time

If you live in the UK or Europe, among other locations, it may be time to go back to Standard Time again. To do that, you must turn your clocks BACK one hour ("Spring forward, Fall backward."). If you're not sure whether your area resumes Standard Time today, you can check TimeAndDate.com to see if and when your location changes.

Oct.26 – Mars enters Capricorn (until Dec.04)

Mars works very well in Capricorn – in fact, Mars can be quite the little workhorse! Action that pursues your ambitions, goals, projects or objectives can make serious progress under this transit. It may be easier to pace yourself and be disciplined in how you use your energy and effort now. Taking a serious, responsible attitude in your actions is likely to produce positive results, even more-so than usual. On the other hand, if you have difficulty with these qualities, and tend to rebel or fight to preserve your freedom, you might feel more like you're being strapped into a yoke and harness and ordered to plough the fields. However, the amount of serious, authentic work you're willing to put your energy into will likely pay off in kind. It can be a good time to show leadership or to make independent decisions that lead by example. Taking risks will make more sense if you prepare your strategy and map out your plan of action.

Oct.27 – Venus trine Neptune (04:54 of Scorpio/Pisces)  (Oct.28 in AU)

This can be a time of romance, creativity, and a sense of oneness with the natural beauty of all that exists in the world. On a social or intimate level, things may run smoothly – even a bit magically! So be sure you are clear about what you really want. In terms of finances and material worth, this can be a time of blessings and abundance that could seem to appear out of nowhere. But be careful – it can also be a time of overspending and wondering where the money went! Your natural beauty and warmth shines through now, so it is a good time to peek out from behind any façade of glamour or illusion you might be cloaked in. You are likely to see the very best in others (and they in you), so that negotiation, interaction and attraction can seem to flow effortlessly. This magical attraction energy could also open you up to seeing wonderful qualities in others that may or may not actually be there, so do a reality check with a trusted friend before you make any important choices.

Oct.28 – Sun trine Neptune (04:53 of Scorpio/Pisces)  (Oct.27 in HAST)

Faith in the bountiful blessings of the Universe is within reach under this transit...but then, so is the fantasy that you will be magically granted anything you wish for. Hope, optimism and imagination spring eternal right now, which can bring some relief from any depression or discouragement you might be feeling. Your creativity can become very inspired under this transit. Your sense of self could also get an infusion of uplifting vision. And you experience a sense of mission, feeling that you are truly a Child of the Universe. There is potential to lift you out of the ordinary and into the sublime – spiritually, creatively, romantically or compassionately. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you make changes based on what might feel like a permanent condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary influence and you will still have to live within the bounds of the physical world after it passes. Don't make overly optimistic promises now, that you will have to fulfil later when the euphoria wears off.

Oct.20 – Mercury retrograde conjunct North Lunar Node (19:07 of Libra)  (Oct.31 in UK, AU)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Ideas are in focus, especially when they're shared with others. It could be a time when you observe or notice something new, giving you a new perspective that you will mull over for the coming several months. Or you might be called upon to give a talk or presentation that shares information with others. It might be an especially active time with emails, Facebook, Twitter or texting. Communication and collection of thoughts and ideas is the central theme here. Keep your eyes, mind and curiosity open – the world could be showing you something important and fascinating!

Nov.01 – Mercury sextile Jupiter (20:28 of Libra/Leo)

You may have an abundance of ideas and words to express them under this transit. There is the potential (if you reach for it) to put ideas, facts and thoughts together into a cohesive whole. You may find you can understand the overall patterns in a situation, or you are able to see the Big Picture, better than usual. New insights and a change of perspective may abound, as your stream of consciousness flows abundantly with optimism and visionary possibilities. You may find yourself more talkative than usual, as you try to share and convey the new ideas, inspiration and knowledge coming into your mind. Write down your best ideas for later development, since you may be having too much fun now playing with ideas to want to stop and make them manifest just yet. There is a chance that you may be so elated and confident that you might come across as a bit overbearing or even as a "know-it-all," so be sure to listen too.

Nov.01 – Venus sextile Pluto (11:23 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.02 in AU)

Close one-on-one relationships with people (close friends, lovers, partners of all kinds) could possibly benefit by being taken to a deeper level now, through creatively combining balanced harmony with deep connection. Just be careful that intimacy and bonding don't go over the top into obsession or domination. There is a brief opportunity now to become more authentic in how you relate to those close to you and how you establish a balance of power with them. The trick is to do this without trying to suppress, control or overpower the other person's interests. Financially, it is a time when you may have an opportunity to profit in your dealings with banks, insurance companies, taxes, and other institutions that deal with collective money.

Nov.01 – Mars sextile Neptune (04:51 of Capricorn/Pisces)  (Nov.02 in AU)

There is potential for inspired action now. You could achieve a softening or soothing of the blunt force of anger, frustration, confrontation and conflict, without this resulting in powerlessness or passivity. It may be easier to move forward with your plans and intentions based on the power of faith or ideals. It's important to not get lost in those ideals to the point where you lose sight of what's realistic, but this is a time when you may be more inclined to take a leap of faith and say "Oh what the heck!" Your emotional impact on others (or their impact on you) could be greater than is intended or expected, so use this expanded energy wisely.

Nov.02 – North America resumes Standard Time

If you live in Canada or the US, among other locations, it may be time to go back to Standard Time again. To do that, you must turn your clocks BACK one hour ("Spring forward, fall backward."). If you're not sure whether your area resumes Standard Time today, you can check TimeAndDate.com to see if and when your location changes.

Nov.03 – Venus trine Chiron (13:17 of Scorpio/Pisces)

Healing and rebalancing are possible now, especially in the areas of relationships, finance, resources and values. Any problems that have persisted in these areas lately could benefit from an influx of helpful and healing resources now. Relationships and interactions of all kinds can benefit now, since it can be easier to see the beauty and value in others whom you might usually dislike or feel ill at ease with (or they with you). Negotiations and strategic efforts to resolve conflicts may go smoothly now, especially when you balance the results in everyone's interests. You may also be able to attract what you need to heal your wounds (physical, psychological, spiritual, etc.). Like it says in the "Serenity Prayer," you may now find it a bit easier to accept that which you cannot change, while finding you make progress with the things you can.

Nov.03 – Sun sextile Pluto (11:26 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.04 in AU)

Your sense of purpose is potentially strong now, being able to tap into a deeper level of energy and determination. Your personality may be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to make a strong impression but perhaps not so much in situations requiring delicacy or subtlety. You have greater ability to see below the surface of things now, although it may not be as easy to put it all together and understand what it all means. It can be possible to unearth secrets or get at the core of unconscious patterns (yours and others'). However, you'll have to work to harvest the fruit of these potentials, and some of the insights and benefits may not become apparent until later.

Nov.05 – Sun trine Chiron (13:15 of Scorpio/Pisces)  (Nov.06 in AU)

This is a time when you may find that your recent efforts to mend and heal the chronic struggles in your life start to come together. You likely have the confidence now to try new solutions, or at least to approach problems from a different angle that sheds new light on the situation. Some of this progress may come from daring to walk your own path, or from finding the courage to face the hidden shadow of your worries and weaknesses (the hidden benefit that those worries give you). There may be a variety of different struggles and wounds in your life that could benefit from this kind of healing, although it can be tempting to let this transit pass by without taking advantage of it. Strive to reach a midpoint between merely dipping your toe in troubled waters and thinking that is enough, versus jumping in the deep end and marinating in it.

"What's a Full Moon?"

Read more about the Sun-Moon cycles.

Read more about how you experience TAURUS energy in your life.

Dearest Readers,

My family situation continues to occupy almost all of my time and energy. However, I am delighted to present some excellent New Moon and Full Moon articles written by guest writers for the next few updates, until my life returns to some semblance of normalcy. My own day-to-day transit interpretations will also be available here in the Low-Down on the Far-Out, as usual.

This Full Moon in Taurus article is written by fellow Toronto astrologer, Aerin Fogel, who practices astrology, karmic readings, hands-on healing, music and writing. She also co-manages an organic farm share CSA program.

Aerin brings a transformational approach to astrology that comes from karmic readings (also known as core pattern readings), which can be a profound way for individuals to find true liberation from their own stories and suffering. Her own monthly New Moon offerings can be found on her website, and her monthly horoscopes are available online at Fashion Magazine.

My sincere thanks to Aerin for stepping in to help me out at this time!

Warmest regards and happy transits, everyone!

We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.
~ J.K. Rowling

All around us in the northern hemisphere, the earth is preparing for its deep winter sleep.

Leaves are divorcing the trees, birds and animals make themselves sparse, and the farm season stutters to a close.

The first sign of cold chokes out the last of the life in the plants.

To understand our place in this natural cycle and rhythm, we have to look within. The outward focus and burst of summer’s energy is leaving, and we have an opportunity to see what is reflected within ourselves as this occurs.

This is the season of Scorpio, and we have all felt the heavy process of Saturn’s journey through this sign in the past two years.

After any expansion must follow a contraction; it is the law of sentience in nature. We cannot exist in a state of expansion forever, or else we are fooling ourselves. Like the plants that cannot survive the cold of winter, we can lovingly let go of any part of ourselves that is no longer life-giving, that will not survive what is required to move forward.

We all fear death on some level, yet death is only the contraction that follows the expansion of life. Through an acceptance and embracing of this inevitability we can intensify and deepen our experience of life.

As we do so, this Full Moon in Taurus brings us a chance to assess our relationship with power. With the Moon in Taurus opposite the Sun in Scorpio, and the Moon opposite and Sun conjunct Saturn, and still further with Mars in an applying conjunction with Pluto, power is the only meal being served on the table.

Power is one of those words that trigger a completely different association for each person. Some of us believe that we should hold power tightly in our fists and never let it go. Some of us believe we should cast it out over others. Some of us don’t believe we have any. Some of us believe we have some, but that we should give it away to others. And some of us think it’s a downright awful thing that no one should have.

None of the above is really true, though. There is a possible expression of humanity (and maybe one that existed before we can any of us remember) where each person stands completely and fully in their individual power, and through this, supports rather than suppresses the expression of the community. It’s hard to even imagine what it would be like for each of us to be completely self-actualized, standing in the fullness of our being. It might actually seem terrifying to some of us, and yet it is our birthright.

So look for where you make yourself small. Look deeply and honestly into those areas of your life where you don’t stand completely in the fullness of your being. And look into those areas of your life where you appear to seem larger in order to hide a feeling of smallness underneath. And ask yourself what you are afraid of in relationship to your own power. Which of those (untrue) beliefs above applies to you?

If we contemplate the theme of power in the context of our changing, contracting environment, and the heightened presence of death in the natural world, it becomes clear that in order to come into our power, we have to look into our fears and the part of us that knows death on literal, symbolic, and egoic levels. And especially during this Full Moon, we have to look into whether we face our fears on our own or project them onto others.

Saturn and the Sun opposite the Moon tell us that we are powerless when lost in projection. Often, if we are too afraid to look at something, we cast the light on those around us (and those closest to us) in hopes that they will look at it for us. We make others feel what we don’t want to have to feel ourselves. This pattern leads to so much of the manipulation of power we see around us, on a global and personal scale.

Mars conjunct Pluto in Capricorn sees the massive power struggle going on in our lives and on the global scale, a struggle for resources and a struggle to take the reins and make the decisions for others. It’s full speed ahead, but blindly ahead when the deeper work of Pluto is ignored; that train will get derailed with its own unconscious speed.

As the myth of Theseus goes, he accepts the magic and help of Ariadne and her thread that leads him in and out of the labyrinth to slay a monster. He promises himself to her, but later discards her for her younger sister once the task has been achieved. He is considered a brave hero, but really, he manipulates Ariadne because he alone does not have the power to journey through the labyrinth and slay the monster.

We must be wary of how easy it may seem to take power from those willing to give, or in the reverse, to give our power to those who seem to need it. The journey into the labyrinth, or underworld, or dark night of our own psyche, is one we essentially must make alone. And though this may seem a lonely journey, no one else can slay the monster for us. Once we descend to the heart of it all, we are not accountable to anyone else; we must stand in our own strength because we are the only one who can face the monster in that moment. There’s no telling how that story might have gone if Theseus was truly as brave and powerful as he professed to be.

So the question becomes, how exactly do we come into a healthier relationship with our power? It can start with the body, for this Full Moon. When we arrive fully in our bodies, explore and enjoy the richness of sensual experience, and take our time to feel things out through the physical, we give ourselves a doorway. The Moon is in Taurus, after all.

This leads us deeper into ourselves, as the body is our vehicle in this life. It’s amazing how many clues the body will give you if you listen, clues into what your needs are, your desires, your fears and resistances, and your pleasures and joys. It’s all there in the body. You will find your power in building this relationship, and the strength that comes from being in your own skin. No one can take that from you, and similarly, you will not need to take it from others.

This means also finding a healthy balance of taking responsibility for yourself, and taking on responsibility for others. This is a time to balance what’s mine from what’s yours, to give back what’s not yours, and to take what rightfully is. The Moon opposite Saturn in Scorpio may feel confused about this balance of responsibility.

This pertains to energy too – be aware of how much you absorb from those around you, and whether you are holding appropriate balance. Take on responsibility to help others wade through the depth of their feelings with healthy boundaries. And don’t project your own feelings onto others.

Through this give and take process, over time, trust is built. Trust is not something that has to appear overnight. An effort to trust anyone you meet might leave you feeling limited. Instead, let this be a gradual process, like cultivating a tree from seed. Trust is fragile, and must be earned. It requires both individuals to be aware of and responsible for their own feelings and unconscious behavior.

Now that you are in your body, enjoying the senses, deepening your individual power in a balanced way, and building trust, it’s time to take a pause. Slowness and precision are the way to go with this Full Moon, allowing things to unfold in their own time without trying to control them too much, and reveling in the unfolding process. Sit in silence and ponder the nature of reality. Observe what is around you and imagine, from there, the unobservable. Make space to connect with the unobservable, to know it, to be comfortable in it, to integrate it into the senses and your day-to-day reality.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
~ Jimi Hendrix

Nov.08 – Mercury Direct enters Scorpio (until Nov.27)  (Nov.09 in AU)

Cunning communication and insight are at their peak, as Mercury skulks through Scorpio. It’s a time for unearthing secrets and delving deeply into the psychological Shadow (Carl Jung’s term for the unconscious parts of ourselves that we don't want to or know how to face). There is opportunity for healing and grounding now, but you may have to resist the temptation to manipulate others to control that process. Your awareness of the undercurrents around you could be increased...or you might stir up those undercurrents in others without intending to, by blurting things out in a blunt or harsh way. This transit presents an opportunity to learn new ways to wield words with the skill of a surgeon – to heal and remove what is toxic, not to wound or retaliate. Use it wisely. If you are not crystal clear with yourself about your motives and feelings when communicating with others, your unconscious or hidden agendas could seep through and cause hurt when that was not your intention.

Nov.09 – Venus square Jupiter (21:18 of Scorpio/Leo)  (Nov.10 in AU)

"Your eyes are bigger than your stomach" (as Mom used to say). That means you are more likely now to over-indulge, especially in the areas of relationships, spending, desires, pleasure and social contact. Your desire for fulfilment and satisfaction may exceed your resources, and you might not even realise it until the bill comes in later (probably under a Saturn transit ;-). You may also find you require more knowledge, understanding, faith, freedom or optimism than you have available, making it tempting to compensate by inflating what you really have. For example, you might want to resort to flattery, manipulation or over-optimism in an effort to make up for a lack of genuine confidence, rapport or preparation. However, this can also be a time when your creativity is running high and you are able to pull rabbits out of your hat on a moment's notice. The problem is that you could over-extend yourself by doing so.

Nov.10 – Mercury leaves the Shadow (02:18 of Scorpio)  ("What's the Shadow?"  Read my articles about Retrograde Cycles.  Read my article about Mercury Retrograde.)

Mercury finally leaves the shadow—the part of the zodiac where it was retrograde. This means the confusion, delays and miscommunications of the last 2 months have mostly dissipated and things should be more or less back to normal (whatever that is). The difference is that you now have the benefit of seeing things from a different perspective after having reconsidered, rethought and rehashed information and perceptions over the past 2 months. This gives you more choices than you had before. In fact, you may find that although you thought something was a good idea a month or two ago, you now realize that a different approach, decision or way of understanding it is better. If you've been waiting until Mercury finished with the retrograde cycle before you made a final decision about something or taking action on something, this is the time to take another look at whatever that is. Just don't forget your common sense, and remember that Mercury is only one factor to take into consideration regarding the timing of a decision. Use your best judgment and wisdom.

Nov.10 – Mars conjunct Pluto (11:35 of Capricorn)   (Nov.10 in AU)

This transit is a volatile and powerful combination of energies, with enormous potential for both creative healing and destructive damage. At its best, this transit can spark a creative force for transformative change that rises from a deep, underlying truth and unconditional acceptance of ourselves, warts and all. At its worst, this energy can be cruel, violent or relentlessly obsessive, aiming to impose power and control over others. How you experience this will largely depend on how you deal with your wants and desires. Are you so attached to the outcome that you are focused only on the external effects and results? Or can you also focus on strengthening your empowerment from within, so that desired change begins with yourself? The urge to express sexual, passionate and intimate feelings may also run high now. Have fun with it, but remember to use good judgment too. Your powers of persuasion can be ardent and strong now...but since this transit applies to everyone, so can other people's. This could lead to zealous competition (think "Battle of the Titans") or to a powerful blend of passionate creativity (think "alchemical transformation"). Which will you choose?

Nov.11 – Mercury trine Neptune (04:48 of Scorpio/Pisces)   (Nov.12 in NST, UK, AU)

Your mind is very open to imagination, dreams and compassion under this transit. This can be a very creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower, whatever!) Listening sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you are more likely to get a compassionate response from others about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Nov.12 – Mars sextile Chiron (13:09 of Capricorn/Pisces)  (Nov.13 in UK, AU)

This transit gives you the opportunity to take action that can bring some healing resolution to some ongoing problems you've been having. For example, if you've been suffering from weakened energy or chronic health problems, this transit could bring a bit of relief, especially if you're willing to invest some effort to move yourself forward. Or you might find that you have extra self-confidence to deal with a dilemma that has not wanted to go away. You might also find yourself in a position where you can help others find some relief or empowerment related to their suffering and chronic struggles. Problem solving of all kinds can benefit by taking an attitude of proactively doing what you can do, and then let go of what you can't.

Nov.12 – Venus conjunct Saturn (25:17 of Scorpio)  (Nov.13 in AU)

The serious structure and responsibility of Saturn combines with the desire for pleasure, beauty and material abundance in Venus. This can be a good time to make concrete plans about financial matters (e.g., investments, budgeting, purchases, etc.), although this will work best if you do some serious research first, rather than simply going for whatever seems to "feel good." This is a time to begin a process of commitment, whether that involves developing your resources to achieve a certain goal, or negotiating the terms of a relationship or partnership. However, in order to clear the way for new commitments to flourish down the road, sometimes old commitments must be brought to a close first. So this may also be a time when previous involvements or plans may come to an end, especially if they no longer fulfil your needs or lack enough potential to reach your desired goals. In a similar way, you might find yourself blocked from being able to move forward in the areas of relationships, finances or pleasures. These areas may require some reworking or reconsideration before you're ready to proceed.

Nov.12 – Mars square Uranus (13:10 of Capricorn/Aries)  (Nov.13 in UK, AU)

Erratic action and unpredictable impulses can surface under this transit. Active energy is more available now, but it can be very hard to control its direction, speed, intensity or predictability. Under this volatile atmosphere, unconscious or suppressed emotions (like anger, frustration, fear or desire) can jump out when you least expect them. Being accident prone is not uncommon. This can be great if you're trying to release inhibitions, find courage to sprint forward or break out of an old habit. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that your actions won't turn out to be destructive, counter-productive or too much of a good thing. You might be tempted to take greater risks than is wise, but this risk-taking impulse can also break you out of a rut too. It's important to use your best judgment when faced with this kind of potent yet volatile energy.

Nov.13 – Sun square Jupiter (21:39 of Scorpio/Leo)  (Nov.14 in UK, AU)

You may be inspired to expand far beyond your usual boundaries during this time, although this may or may not work in the way you hope it will. It can be a time of challenge, when you decide that now is the time to move beyond your current horizons and make the ultimate push for something you believe will bring you happiness, fulfilment and prosperity. How successful you are will probably depend on how prepared you are for what comes next. Your judgment and your ability to see things objectively and realistically can be a little "off" during this transit, since your hopes and ideals might distort what is actually possible. It can be easy to overestimate the envisioned results, or you might underestimate the amount of work necessary to sustain your dream and prevent it from being just a flash in the pan. Try to avoid being overconfident and making promises you can't keep (including to yourself).

Nov.16 – Neptune Stationary Direct (04:47 of Pisces)  (Nov.15 in HAST, AKST, PST)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Neptune now turns direct after being retrograde for about 5 months. For up to a week before and after this date, you might feel a bit dreamy, disconnected, depressed, sluggish or scatter-brained. The Neptune energy takes you into a non-rational, intuitive place and can stir up feelings and issues from the unconscious. Vivid dreams could give you insight into situations you have been wrestling with, and your intuitive sensitivity might seem to come out of nowhere. Or you might experience the opposite—your dreams elude you and you feel cut off from your usual intuitive sense. What is happening is that your "right-brain" (intuitive, creative, non-rational, faith-oriented) is passing the torch to your "left-brain" (rational, logical, linear, practical), and you can get caught in the whirlpool of transition. Try not to control the process, but allow it to carry you and point you in a different direction. The learning you have gathered over the last five months or so—related to spirituality, longing, inspiration, creativity, imagination, fantasy, divination and intuition—can now start to be applied more directly in your life over the next few months. It may be possible to channel your experience into a creative form—possibly artistic, but definitely creating something new out of what has been, which can ultimately be healing and uplifting.

Nov.16 – Mercury sextile Pluto (11:43 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.17 in AU)

Penetrating insights and passionate communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when your mental concentration can come together so easily that you become obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to explore the depths in your interaction or communication with others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you gather the deeper qualities.

Nov.16 – Venus enters Sagittarius (until Dec.10)  (Nov.17 in AU)

Venus focuses her passion on truth-seeking, philosophical exploration, a lust for knowledge, spiritual intimacy, music in foreign languages and multicultural social discourse. It is a time to explore the meaning that your close relationships bring to your life, and the value that you bring to the Significant Others in your life. It is also a time when you might seek to increase your income (or your spending – careful!) and expand your potential for material wealth and self-worth. You will likely find that negotiations, interactions and transactions work best when you apply spiritual values to them and keep the big picture in mind. You may also find yourself involved with people and transactions that involve other countries, cultures, languages and travel. There could be a teaching-learning element in your dealings with people, so aim for the highest good of all concerned.

Nov.17 – Mercury trine Chiron (13:07 of Scorpio/Pisces)

Your mental focus and communication now get an injection of healing energy. Cynicism and depression may soften now, as you become more receptive to a more optimistic viewpoint. If you have been caught up in escapism or "stinkin' thinkin'" (thinking you're more in control of your impulses than you really are), you may now find some relief and healing. Mental argument and critical "self-talk" can now find some reconciliation and acceptance that brings some peace of mind. You have increased ability to find the right words and understanding to help others with their problems. Compassion and empathy may be more accessible because you can identify your own experiences with what you see in others. You might also find someone who can give you good advice or support about your own problems – possibly a teacher or mentor – or you could become this to someone else.

Nov.18 – Sun conjunct Saturn (25:55 of Scorpio)   (Nov.17 in HAST, AKST)

For a few days before and after this date, you may feel serious, studious, stuck, blocked, committed and/or hard working. It could be a good time to manifest well prepared plans, or you might have to get real and deal with difficult realities in new ways. You may have business with authority figures, or you might be called upon to act in a leadership role. It can also be a time to own your own authority – that is, to BE the authority figure, either to someone else or just to yourself. It might be a time of decision, when you have to choose one path or option over another. This can feel like an ending, as much as it is a new beginning, because selecting one possibility means you must let go of the other possibilities (at least for now). This is a necessary part of the process of manifestation and maturity. Doing closure on the people and situations that are passing out of your life will help to complete the process of growth and learning they have brought into your life, and can help clear the space for something new to begin growing in their place.

Nov.20 – Mars square North Lunar Node (18:49 of Capricorn/Libra)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

For a week or so, it might feel like the actions you must take to deal with current circumstances are at cross purposes to what you see as your higher purpose or optimal direction in life. You might feel at odds with others, or in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the other hand, this can be a time when being forced to take a temporary "detour" off your chosen path can bring an opportunity to gather new resources, information or insight that can actually help you more, in the long run, than if you had stayed on the main path. However, there's never any one way to experience a given transit. The question becomes: is veering off the main path something that enables you to avoid something you should be facing? Or is does this detour bring you to a new perspective or resources that you are resisting because it's off the main path? Either way, it's a good idea to balance your impulses and passions with mindful awareness.

Nov.20 – Venus square Neptune (04:48 of Sagittarius/Pisces)  (Nov.21 in AU)

Money, material resources, relationships and pleasure could be subject to confusion, deception, or unrealistic wishful thinking under this transit. It may seem that what you thought you had (love, friendship, pleasure, money, resources) has suddenly disappeared or isn't as dependable as you thought it was. You might feel disappointed, disillusioned, sad or alone, but this is more likely to be a passing phase than a serious crisis. The question is: what are your secret longings and subtle desires that may be operating unconsciously? These could be clouding your ability to relate to people and situations in your life. Old addictions, depression or idealism may surface as way of dealing with feelings. A better outlet would be to channel your feelings and experiences into creativity, beauty, inspiration and compassion; for example, art, music or helping others.

Nov.21 – Mercury sextile Mars (19:40 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.22 in AU)

There is a potential now to find the courage to speak your mind and say what needs to be said, if you focus consciously on doing so. In fact, your ideas and words may come so quickly and easily that it's hard to stop them from tumbling out of your mouth before you've had a chance to evaluate the best way to say them. Communication is probably easiest and most effective when it's direct, concise and quick, although it might also be a bit blunt or pointed. If you need to confront someone about a difficult situation, this transit can provide courage and clear words to help you do that – although perhaps a bit too forceful when a more delicate, sensitive touch is called for. It is a time when you might find the nerve to take risks, or to defend yourself if the need arises (especially verbally). This is a good transit for creative problem solving and trying on decisions to see if they fit.

Nov.22 – Sun enters Sagittarius (until Dec.21)

Happy Solar Return to all Sagittarians! While the Sun is in Sagittarius, we all get to explore our horizons, seek our highest truth, discover our spirituality and gain fresh wisdom. Sagittarius energy encourages us to reach beyond our grasp, to exceed our limitations, and to rise above our primal impulses. Whether we are encountering other cultures, countries and languages, or expanding our horizons through new knowledge or spiritual awareness, this is a time to be uplifted and inspired. We are challenged to explore meaning in our lives and to connect with whatever we regard as sacred and sublime. In Sagittarius we also gather new knowledge and understanding, making sense of the patterns and themes within the raw information around us. It is not enough to simply have facts and data. Sagittarius presents us with the opportunity to reach for the highest truth we know, and then to exercise that truth in moral and ethical ways. The trap we must be careful to avoid is that it's easy to assume that our truth is truth for everyone else too, which is not necessarily the case. Our well-meaning wish for others to experience the inspiration and passion that we feel can seem to turn us into self-righteousness know-it-alls. It's tempting to believe that we are privy to knowledge that others are denied. There can be a fine line between sharing passionate knowledge versus shoving opinions down someone's throat. Everyone has their unique perspective on life, and therefore their own sense of meaning and truth that works for them. And yet, debating and challenging each other's knowledge, beliefs and values are also an important part of the Sagittarius passion for exploration. As the Sun journeys through Sagittarius, expand your awareness of how these issues play out in your life.
