Jan.09 – NEW MOON in CAPRICORN (19:13 of Capricorn)

We often think of Capricorn as the dull, boring, all-work-no-play sign. Ruled by stuffy old Saturn, it's all about stern effort, responsibility and taking things seriously. This Capricorn New Moon is also conjunct intense, foreboding Pluto, so this will probably just add a heavy, arduous quality to Capricorn's agenda, right?

"Oh joy," says Grumpy Cat, "Just what I need after the holidays."

However, this is likely to be a kinder, softer, more optimistic Capricorn Moon. This is Cap with an inspired sense of purpose and a clearer vision of the possibilities than it usually has. Why? Because Venus, Jupiter and Sagittarius! This Capricorn Moon is also reorganizing, evolving and growing beyond its usual comfort zone. Why? Because Uranus and Pluto!

So: let's start with the nice stuff: Jupiter, for one. The Sun and Moon are trine expansive Jupiter (120°), which puts Capricorn in a much better mood. No longer feeling she must make do with a limited bag of tools and being stuck in the grunge of the same-old-same-old tasks, Capricorn is able to explore new possibilities by adding to her skill set and plotting a path to exciting new projects and goals.

However Jupiter does much more than just put a slight smile on the face of ol' Grumpy Cat Capricorn. Right now Jupiter is still Stationary, having officially gone retrograde just 2 days before the New Moon (Jan.06). A stationary planet is like a blow torch in the chart—very strong and intense.

Jupiter's bailiwick is populated with joviality, celebration, spontaneity, optimism and confidence. While cautious Capricorn usually feels somewhat ill at ease around these qualities, Jupiter throws a reassuring arm around her square shoulders and encourages her to go fly a kite with him to see where it takes them. Jupiter is in structured, grounded Virgo (a fellow Earth sign), so Capricorn agrees to this adventure on the condition that it will involve at least some constructive productivity. Jupiter in Virgo is only too happy to concur.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity;
an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
~ Winston S. Churchill

Multiple Trine

Besides his stationary condition making him a powerful player in the chart's drama, Jupiter is also very tightly conjunct the North Lunar Node. These two do a little dance in January between themselves, and during January and February they also waltz with the Sun and Mercury. (See Jan.23 for a detailed interpretation.) In February the trine torch is passed to Venus as she glides through Capricorn. To top it off, the Moon turns it all into a Grand Trine on Jan.18 and on Feb.14 (with a much wider orb).

Mercury does his best to learn as much from Jupiter as he can, as they make 3 trines (120°) throughout his current retrograde cycle. (Oh—did I forget to mention that Mercury is retrograde right now? Well, he is.) This gives us 3 chances—Dec.25.2015, Jan.14, Feb.06—to get a clear, solid understanding of what we can achieve by letting these parts of ourselves work cooperatively.

Mulitple Trine aspects: Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Node

This is done by taking a detailed and imaginative inventory of the goals we're aiming for, and then acting on that vision using analysis, preplanning and methodical steps. This trine energy can be used constructively by allowing yourself to acknowledge, embrace and celebrate all the things that grace and enhance your life. It's a good time to enjoy the skills, material goodies, connections, ideas and understanding that you have gained in recent months and years.

Trine aspects don't necessarily motivate you into action—that's more typical of the squares, oppositions and conjunctions (90°, 180° and 0°). However, you may find that the resources, support, guidance and confidence you need to take those actions are available more easily and plentifully than they usually are. If you're buried up to your eyeballs in stress right now, this easy flowing energy might even pass by without you noticing it, but when you look back on this time later you may find that there were a lot of opportunities, ideas or solutions, big or small, that came through when you needed them.

Invention is by its very nature disruptive. If you want to be understood at all times, then don't do anything new.
~ Jeff Bezos

Uranus-Pluto Square

The Sun-Moon conjunction (a.k.a. the New Moon) is also conjunct Pluto and square Uranus. This is a potentially volatile energy that could interrupt the peace-and-love-fest created by the multiple trine. The trick in avoiding or minimizing this is to not lose sight of the benefits and creative resourcefulness that the trined planets bring.

New Moon with Uranus-Pluto square

With the New Moon hooked into the Uranus-Pluto square, you might experience upsets or disruptions in your career, in your intended life path, your goals, your boundaries, your relationship to authority figures, your ability to follow the rules, or your sense of what to expect from the world around you. With Mercury being retrograde right now, it might be little more than simply being very distractible. If you notice this effect, it could indicate you need a break from what you're doing. It's also possible you need to let go of something about what is being disrupted. Or, it might be necessary to take it apart so you can put it back together again in a more effective way.

The multiple trine can help you keep a sense of positive vision of what is possible, which can guide and support you through the dismantling process. This upbeat reminder that there is life after {whatever is coming apart} might not be as obvious as the changes you're going through. So, it's important to be open to a more encouraging viewpoint and perhaps even make a conscious choice to reach out for it.

This was when I learned that you have to give up your life as you know it to get a new one: that sometimes you need to let go of everything you're clinging to and start over, whether because you've outgrown it or because it's not working anymore, or because it was wrong for you in the first place.
~ Kelly Cutrone, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You

Saturn, Neptune and Venus

An examination of the New Moon in Capricorn wouldn't be complete without looking at what was happening with Saturn. Being that sign's planetary ruler, Saturn is the driving force behind what direction Capricorn takes, along with its strengths, resources, complications and hindrances.

This year Saturn is square Neptune (90°), which puts hard realism and whimsical imagination on a collision course through conflict of interest. This combination of energies pushes Saturn to soften his harsh edges and pressures Neptune to squeeze the genie into the bottle where it can be brought out for specific purposes. Naturally, neither one is terribly happy about this, but it's "good for them" and brings out the best in each of them, even if they don't want to admit it.

Saturn square Neptune, 2015-2016

After a close preview of Saturn-Neptune in early 2015, there are 3 exact passes: Nov.26.2015, Jun.17 and Sep.10. We are in mid-process at the moment, with Saturn and Neptune still square but not precisely—close enough to feel the fizz but not enough to feel like you're drowning in it. This is a good time to take stock of how you're doing with the job of integrating these energies into your personal journey into the dark woods. May the forest be with you!

Saturn is also graced by the conjoined company of Venus, who just recently stopped by to say Hola (Jan.08) on her way to Spanish class. Venus invites him to come along, thinking an expanded vocabulary might give Saturn a fresh perspective and new solutions to society's old problems, especially those that relate to differences of opinion, belief and morality.

Saturn's natural instinct is often to address these discrepancies between people by pulling authority and deciding on a one-size-fits-all answer for everyone. The Saturn archetype believes that if you just build the right system then everyone should be able to fit somewhere inside it, even if it means many have to take responsibility to adjust themselves to fit in.

However, Venus is whispering in Saturn's ear that there may be a kinder, gentler, more harmonious way to establish order without treating human beings like bricks in a wall. And Jupiter, trining the Capricorn New Moon, wants to remind Saturn that growth happens because one size does not always fit all, and that the structure needs to expand in order to accommodate those who can't simply scrunch up to fit in.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.
~ Bob Marley

Saturn in Sagittarius - The Up Side

Last year Saturn "slipped the surly bonds" of Scorpio and soared into Sagittarius. This shift in Saturn's mode of expression has provided inspiration (personally and globally) for many to go beyond mere facts and seek out a broader perspective of truth and its greater meaning. This in turn can be used to forge new guidelines and strategies for visionary goals.

At its best, this is a Saturn concerned with justice and integrity – doing what's right because it's the right thing to do, not just because it's what's expected of you. Building your life to reflect your heartfelt beliefs, the best vision of your potential and simply walking the walk (not just talking the talk) is one of the best ways to use the Saturn in Sag energy. This New Moon in Saturn's own sign of Capricorn is an opportunity to explore how you are and are not doing this as effectively as you could.

The fact that the Sun and Moon are in an easy flowing relationship with Sagittarius' ruler, Jupiter, suggests that this doesn't have to be an arduous process of self-recrimination or putting your actions into a straightjacket. On the contrary, it may be more constructive to look for ways to enhance or expand what you're already doing by adding new activities aligned with the spirit of your highest intentions.

For example, rather than restricting your diet to exclude carbs, fats, meat or other foods that are too tempting to resist, you might have more success by focusing your meal menus on healthier foods you want to include. You just might find that by pre-introducing something to fill the gap, it's easier to pare back on the food you want to avoid. This follows the philosophy of catching more flies with honey than vinegar.

If we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.
~ John F. Kennedy, Commencement Address at American University, June 10 1963

Saturn in Sagittarius - The Challenges

On the other hand, Saturn in Sagittarius could also swing to the other end of the spectrum by slamming down the morally righteousness gavel and pronouncing everything and everyone as either all-good or all-bad. In this case, the trine from Jupiter to the New Moon could just amplify this effect.

However, life doesn't usually operate in an all-or-nothing way. If you get stuck in a restrictive mindset and are unable to balance it out with a more open-minded viewpoint, it might be helpful to check if there's a more personal issue pushing up from under your conscious awareness. Try listening to the subtext of your conscious assumptions. Perhaps you are drawn to a black-or-white view in order to clarify muddy shades of grey? Or maybe you are afraid of losing control over the world around you?

Saturn in Sagittarius could bring out an unbending need for the entire world to be what you want it to be. We all instinctively look to the outside world to mirror back something of who we are, but we are just one among many in that world. As co-creators of what happens here, it's unrealistic to expect the world to present a 100% perfect reflection of just ourselves.

We may feel inspired to try to make the world a better place through our own vision, but then others with whom we disagree are also trying to do the same through theirs. It's never easy to know where to draw a clear, healthy line between our own and others' vision of the world – between acceptance of that which does not match our view of what the world ought to be, versus feeling compelled to challenge or reject something we can't live with.

The struggle to choose where to draw that line is a lifelong process of growth, evolution, expanding awareness and exploring our own assumptions and expectations. As Saturn travels through Sagittarius until the end of 2017, we are challenged to examine where, why and how we draw that line and whether we should consider changing it.

Capricorn: a Friendlier Old Goat

This Capricorn New Moon cycle provides another step on that journey. We are challenged to scrutinize how we understand and work with boundaries and differences—not so much through the stern, demanding window of "how it should be," but through the softer, distant, telescopic lens of what it might become.

This 4-week lunar cycle unfolds both challenges and opportunities; circumstances that present difficulties and situations that open the door to new potential. This can be a good time to bring a productive, effective focus to your direction this year. Happy New Year!

I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way
we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.
~ Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

Jan.11-16 – Multiple Trine: Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Node (23° of Capricorn/Virgo)

On January 13 and 14 (plus a couple of days before and after these dates) there is an excellent multiple trine taking place. The Sun conjoins Mercury Retrograde on Jan.14, and both of them make a trine aspect to Jupiter (120°) at that time. On top of that, Jupiter is also tightly conjunct the North Lunar Node right now (exact on Jan.23), so Jupiter's expansive, jovial and visionary nature is even more amplified.

Mulitple Trine aspects: Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Node

The overall effect can bring ease and flow to money matters, communication, discipline and other things that may otherwise be a bit difficult lately (especially considering Mercury is retrograde right now). It is a time when understanding the big picture may come more easily, with smaller pieces falling into place within a context that makes it all make sense. You may feel more confident than usual, and you might feel a sense of comfortable connection to your place in the grand scheme of things.

On the other hand, the effect could take a weird turn and become too much of a good thing. You might find yourself blurting out what looks like truth, insight or feedback, while others feel you're coming across as arrogant, self-righteous or overbearing. You may find "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" which could lead you to overindulge in food, spending and other pleasures. Give yourself some time before taking final action on visions of how your life could be improved – it's probably wise to think it through on a step-by-step basis before committing yourself.

You're especially likely to feel this if you have natal planets around 21-25 degrees of the Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and perhaps Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces).

Jan.12 – Venus trine Uranus (16:41 of Sagittarius/Aries)  (Jan.13 in uk, AU)

Spontaneity and liberation burst into your relationships, finances, resources and pleasures. You might feel compelled to try something completely different that shakes up the "same-old-same-old" routines you're used to. The upside is that you have the opportunity to break free of some old habits and breathe some fresh air into your life. But the downside could come in the form of impulse spending beyond your budget, or recklessness in your interactions and relationships. Strive to break free of what holds you back from being your true self, without destroying the structure of order in your life.

Jan.13 – Sun trine Jupiter (23:11 of Capricorn/Virgo)  (Jan.14 in AU)

This is a time when your understanding of the Big Picture and your place within it can click into place. As a result, your confidence and self-esteem can be quite high right now. Your ability to see opportunities and possibilities more clearly can produce an experience of being "lucky." Your insight into life and the world around you may be especially bright, optimistic and inspired. This is a "feel-good" transit, when your sense of self can seem to expand and become free. You may feel especially connected to spiritual energy during this time, finding new meaning in your live and the events that unfold around you. Self-confidence can run high now, and you could feel inspired to fight for justice or some cause. At the same time, there is a chance that all this self-assurance and "knowing" could go overboard into over-confidence, dogmatism or over-indulgence if it's not grounded in realism and humility. Just use your best judgment and enjoy this warm, shining energy!

Jan.13 – Venus square Chiron (17:55 of Sagittarius/Pisces)  (Jan.14 in UK, AU)

You may be forced to make adjustments to relationships and/or finances now, as you face situations in these areas that just don't want to balance out the way you want them to. You may feel a bit like you're in a catch-22 (no-win situation), where the more you try to find balance and harmony, the more you feel like you're chasing your own tail around in circles. This is a time when healing in relationships and financial problems may be difficult to obtain. Harmony in these areas can seem impossible or blocked, yet it is still necessary to keep trying. By trying anyway, it may be possible to find a solution that meets your needs, even if it may not be what you wanted, hoped for or expected. Strive to find a creative solution that draws on your best side.

Jan.14 – Sun conjunct Mercury Retrograde (23:49 of Capricorn)  (Jan.15 in AU)

When the Sun conjoins Mercury Retrograde, there is a new beginning in the areas of awareness, communication, use of information and exchange of ideas. This may or may not be heralded by a recognisable event or experience, although for a day or two your consciousness may shift. Your awareness and mental concentration may take a dip into the unconscious, becoming unusually murky and muddy, or it may rise into ultra-consciousness and become suddenly clear and lucid (afterwards returning to the usual Mercury retrograde fog). A new awareness or perspective on what has unfolded during the retrograde cycle thus far may surface now, or an unworkable attitude or perception of these events may fall apart under the weight of new information. This shift of awareness may be obvious or subtle, sudden or gradual, but this transit marks a turning point in the Mercury retrograde cycle. It also marks a time when mental awareness often goes further underground, for the rest of the retrograde period, making it a little harder to operate objectively and rationally in the outside world. Spend some time in your right-brain, intuitive, non-rational mind, which can coax your mental creativity and inventiveness to the surface.

Jan.14 – Mercury Retrograde trine Jupiter (23:09 of Capricorn/)  (Jan.15 in UK, AU)

This is the retrograde pass of this transit, meaning that it is likely to bring back similar or repeating themes from the first pass. The ideas and possibilities that filled your mind at the first pass may now come back to be explored more deeply. Or, you might now see potential in those ideas that you missed the first time around. It's possible you might have second thoughts and doubts about ideas that previously seemed doable and exciting, although you may find that these doubts lead to even better ideas to explore and develop. Communication could suddenly seem like it's on "automatic pilot," where you have a constant stream of words coming out of your mouth but they're not very focused or productive. As a result, this can be a great time for brainstorming new possibilities and just getting ideas out there for future consideration, but might not be the best time to analyze and develop them. On the other hand, analysis could now become much more in-depth and produce unforeseen implications.

Jan.18 – Venus square Jupiter (23:04 of Sagittarius/Virgo)  (Jan.17 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST, CST)

"Your eyes are bigger than your stomach" (as Mom used to say). That means you are more likely now to over-indulge, especially in the areas of relationships, spending, desires, pleasure and social contact. Your desire for fulfilment and satisfaction may exceed your resources, and you might not even realise it until the bill comes in later (probably under a Saturn transit ;-). You may also find you require more knowledge, understanding, faith, freedom or optimism than you have available, making it tempting to compensate by inflating what you really have. For example, you might want to resort to flattery, manipulation or over-optimism in an effort to make up for a lack of genuine confidence, rapport or preparation. However, this can also be a time when your creativity is running high and you are able to pull rabbits out of your hat on a moment's notice. The problem is that you could over-extend yourself by doing so.

Jan.18 – Mars trine Neptune (08:01 of Scorpio/Pisces)

This transit can bring a mystical, imaginative, compassionate aura to Mars' normally direct, fast, aggressive, self-focused energy. You may feel inspired to act on faith, confront with compassion, and react gently. On the other hand, it can be much easier to be motivated by something that turns out not to be what you thought it was. Much can depend on how impulsive your actions are and whether they are based on preplanning and research. We may tend to see our actions as righteous and justified. Creative energy is usually strong, whether this is used literally in the arts or in finding creative solutions to conflicts and problems. Our anger and aggression may be expressed in a way that is compassionate and intuitive, although our assertive edge might also be blunted a bit too much. It might help to think of the snake in the old parable – even if you choose not to bite if someone steps on your tail, it doesn’t mean you can't hiss.

Jan.18 – Venus square North Lunar Node (23:28 of Sagittarius/Virgo)  (Jan.19 in AU)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Perhaps you're finding that the people in your life are not being as supportive, encouraging or cooperative as you thought they would be, in terms of helping you fulfil your life purpose. Someone might suddenly withdraw their support, or maybe they contradict or interfere with what you're trying to do with your life. Perhaps an argument or disagreement happens and the upset, stress or hard feelings that result seem to cast a shadow on how you feel about your life. If this happens, it's possible that what you disagree about is something you should look at more closely. Are you responding to this situation in a way that truly reflects your values? Or perhaps your values need to be reconsidered. The agreement or balance of priorities between you might need to be renegotiated. This transit might also manifest as problems around finances or possessions, which requires some adjustment on your part. Since this transit usually lasts only a few days, in most cases its effects will not be major. If it does bring up some significant issues, it is probably hinting at a deeper issue, and you would be wise to look at the problem beyond the current circumstances. Other transits (especially to your natal chart) can give you more information about the nature of the situation.

Jan.19 – Mercury sextile Chiron (18:09 of Capricorn/Pisces)  (Jan.18 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST)

Your mental focus and communication could get an injection of healing energy under this transit, as long as you are prepared to put some effort into getting it. Your spirits can become uplifted now, from seeing a light at the end of the tunnel or from finding a light that guides you along the path in front of you. It will not, however, make the tunnel or the path go away; you'll still have to walk the walk. But your mental perspective can become more accepting of inconsistencies and frustrations under this transit, which can alleviate a lot of stress and make the journey a bit smoother. Mental struggles and critical "self-talk" may find some reconciliation and acceptance that brings peace of mind. You have an increased ability to find the right words and understanding to help others with their problems, by providing insightful feedback. To get the most out of this transit, aim to find a mental outlook and communication style that can tolerate contradiction without having to eradicate one in order to justify the other.

Jan.20 – Sun enters Aquarius (until Feb.19)  (Jan.21 in AU)

Happy Solar Return to all Aquarians! While the Sun travels through Aquarius, we all have a chance to explore our rebellious, individualistic and futuristic Aquarian nature. This heralds a time to explore beyond the status quo and conventional reality, beckoning you to reach out to the lost threads of who you are. You may become more aware of your individual uniqueness and your part in the Great Collective – both your surrounding community and the Collective Unconscious. In order to fulfil the unique fingerprint of your life's purpose, it is sometimes necessary to be rebellious, spontaneous, and to be open to the unexpected. You might become aware of the need for these qualities under this transit. There is always a constant tension between the need to conform to society's formula of what works best versus the need to step off the main path to explore new experiences, and both are equally necessary to the health of both the individual and the greater community. Archetypally, it is in Aquarius that we encounter our personal experience of the battle between "the needs of the many" versus "the needs of the few." During the Sun's adventure through Aquarius, be open to the ways that this dynamic operates in your life. What can trigger or inspire you into rebellion or going against the conventional flow of the world around you? What will motivate you into being a team player, when you apply your energies to support or defend "the needs of the many?" What visions of the future do you see when you are in either mode of being? This is a time when you may have the opportunity to observe and learn about both sides of yourself – the part that feels like it's "me against the world" and the part that feels like a part of that world.

Jan.20 – Mercury Retrograde square Uranus (16:50 of Capricorn/Aries)  (Jan.21 in AU)

Mercury is retrograde while squaring Uranus, so the unexpected is to be expected! You might find new information comes your way that blows what you thought to be true out of the water. As a result you may need to change your point of view or change your situation. If this new perspective significantly disrupts your usual "normal," your reaction might be to resist or fight the necessary change in an effort to force things to return to the old "normal." However, that's probably not going to work very well and might make things worse. Better to take some time to take in what happened and what you're now perceiving as a result. There's probably a lesson in it somewhere for you. It's possible you could blurt out words that aren't thought through very well, so your words may come out as a bit too sharp, abrupt, honest or impatient. You could also be especially sensitive right now to these things coming from other people. If so, try to smooth out your reaction a bit so that it doesn't make a bad thing worse. At its best, this transit can bring breakthrough insight and understanding, where you finally "get the message," even though it might feel like life has just given you a shake to get your attention.

Jan.22 – Mercury Retrograde conjunct Pluto (15:47 of Capricorn)  (Jan.21 in HAST)

Deep insights and passionate communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that require a bit of delicacy or discretion. This can be a new beginning in understanding the deeper motives and dynamics of what is happening in your life, although this could happen with great intensity or obsession. The light can finally start to go on in the darker corners that have eluded you. Although what you see there might be both illuminating and disturbing, it is ultimately something you can grow from, which can transform your mental outlook into something more meaningful and resilient. This is a time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions or ineffective forms of communication. You also have an increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you gather the deeper qualities.

Jan.23 – Jupiter conjunct True North Lunar Node (22:51 of Virgo)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Under this transit you may feel especially idealistic, optimistic and visionary, and start to perceive and understand life beyond your usual horizons. On the other hand, you might also feel an upsurge of judgment, blame or criticism, feeling irritated that you—or the people around you—aren't living up to the best potential. You might also encounter someone who is a mentor, advisor or inspiring teacher, or you might be this person to someone else. Another possibility is you might travel, want to travel, or encounter a person or situation that gives you exposure to other cultures, nationalities, religions or philosophies. Or, you might have a spiritual awakening or feel the need to rethink your beliefs. This is a good time to make a quest for ultimate truth, greater understanding and highest wisdom, using whatever situation presents itself around this time. This transit is in effect for up to a month before and after this date.

This is actually the first of 3 exact passes: Jan.23, Jan.29 and Jun.20. Jupiter and the North Node do a little dance in January, all at 22 degrees of Virgo. Here are the dance steps.

Initially both the Node and Jupiter are retrograde. The Node (in this case moving faster) crosses over Jupiter (pass #1 on Jan.23). However, the Node then turns direct for a few days (remember, this is the True Node; although it gradually retrogrades through the zodiac, it does so by oscillating back and forth; kind of "one step forward, two steps back").

The Node then crosses back over Jupiter (pass #2 on Jan.29). At that time, Jupiter is moving faster than the Node, so it pulls away faster than the Node can catch up. On Jan.27, the Moon also conjoins Jupiter and the Node, bringing even more focus to these energies.

On May.09 finally Jupiter stations direct, so that now Jupiter and the Node are moving toward each other (Jupiter moving direct, Node moving retrograde). They meet in the middle on Jun.20 (pass #3) and go their separate ways, moving in opposite directions. After that, they won't meet again until 2023.

What does it all mean? You may feel called to re-vision where you're going and (especially) how you plan to get from here to there. This is not simply a visualization exercise to guide you into the future – this is about really nailing down the details, which will ultimately tell you how realistic, doable and fulfilling your vision is likely to be. This is a process that will take the first half of the year, starting in January, turning a corner in May and wrapping up the process in June or July. This isn't about making it all come true during that time, but of recalibrating the Jupiterian Archer's aim of where you're going.

Over the next 6 months, you have a chance to test out theories, ideas and methods, so that you expand your options and know which ones will set you on a course to take you to your destination. Around the first pass (Jan.23) you may feel you're getting a good sense of how to manifest this, but by the second pass (Jan.29) you might start to realize the path isn't a straight one, or question if this really is the best direction for you, or see that it's a bigger job than you thought.

Don't lose heart! This kind of long-range planning isn't usually a slam dunk – over with quickly and on to the next thing. This is more like letting your eyes become accustomed to the changing light – give your vision some time to make itself clear in more detail. This is probably best achieved over the next few months by trying out different parts of your vision and ways to make it happen. It might help to take a methodical approach – for example, write in your journal about what you're trying to do, what you do to try to make that happen and how well that works for you. It could come in handy later when you're assessing this time of trial-and-error.

Jan.23 – Venus enters Capricorn (until Feb.16)  (Jan.24 in AU)

Friendly, abundant Venus travels through serious, structured Capricorn, bringing out her grounded, material side. It may be time to make new plans and commitments for material or relationship goals. It can be a time to get serious and make some solid decisions about what works and what doesn't. It may help to organise and systemise the way you approach relationships, finances, resources and pleasure. An example of systemising pleasure is to schedule regular time to pamper yourself, or to make a point of doing the hard work that will pay off in pleasure later (like eating healthier food or working out more). Although this might seem a bit unromantic or uninspiring, you'll find that laying the groundwork for what you want to attract into your life will provide support for the rewards to come.
