NEW MOON in CAPRICORN

The Lunar Forecasts give Daily Horoscopes a greater context.

Happy New Year! To start the year off right, the universe has provided a handy New Moon to get you focused, aimed and grounded in the best way. This is a great time to envision your goals for the coming months and plot a course from here to your destination. Worthy goals can bring ease, comfort and rewards but also the challenge of change. That change might be disruptive and destructive, or liberating and exciting. In either case, it may be necessary to break apart something that has been established in the past in order to rebuild it in a whole new way. Remember that transformation and renewal require you to let go of what was in order to make room for something new to happen.

However, this doesn't have to be merely arduous struggle. In fact, easier flowing energy abounds during this lunar cycle, offsetting the difficult aspects of the changes. Think of this like the old saying that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. In other words, if you consciously focus on positive thoughts and have some faith that good things will happen, it will help you see beyond any difficulties or setbacks you might experience along the way.

In particular, it may help to seek out insight and advice from like-minded people, especially those who have some authority or who can challenge you with a reality check. Someone who can spot the little things that are missing or out of alignment can also be helpful. And it's also important to reach out to someone who can help you keep the faith when you feel discouraged (which happens to all of us from time to time). It may also be better to plan out actions and strategies right now, rather than making commitments before you have all your ducks in a row. The better time to commit to action is probably around the end of the month after the next update. In the meantime, watch for added benefits and opportunities in mid-January (11th to 16th). It probably won't solve all your problems, but it could give you resources, support, advantages or relief when you need it.

Creative self-affirmation is just what the doctor ordered! This is a great time to find fun, innovative, expressive ways to show your true self. No more hiding behind a wall of inhibition, suffering or alienation—at least not as much as you have been. It doesn't mean you have to walk around feeling like your bare backside is hanging out, but this is a time when you can find new ways to uncover more of your beautiful self, and in doing so, find some healing and solace.

Surprisingly, what might open the door that lets your inner self come out is the very thing that may have led you to close that door to begin with: woundedness, distress, discouragement or victimization. The difference right now is that you have access to insight that comes from deep self-honesty, and the knowledge that you are stronger than you think. This is not about taking needless risks. It's about taking calculated risks, and having the courage to venture into uncharted territory just enough to explore a new perspective about yourself.

Over the next week or two you may feel an urgent need to make changes...or to avoid them! You may experience a lot of intensity and feel pressured to make critical decisions. Don't let this throw you! The idea is not to feel like this is a "do or die" situation, but to treat choices, decisions and plans seriously. Take some time to reach deep into your awareness and be brutally honest with yourself about what you really want, what is truly necessary, what your priorities really are and what decisions will reflect your beautiful passionate self.
